"...Welp, this is a strange place... And oddly famili--" The nebula stops as she realizes that she proooobably shouldn't be talking aloud when there might be monsters around. She shivers. Maybe the darkness is starting to get to her. But what to do about the oil in front of her? Light is important, but the trap door might be the only way... But the light might light up more ways to go. Hmm... The nebula decides to opt for light, putting the oil in her lantern. She hopes that she'll find more oil along the way. That, or another route. She becomes very still, craning her ears for even the slightest sound of movement, and if she finds none, she tries to light the lantern. You wait a moment, but no further sounds are apparent, so you light up the lantern. I casts a soft yellow glow about the room, and you sigh with relief. You can see now, albeit not very far. With the trapdoor still jammed, you continue through the prison. Eventually you find your way to some sort of room that looks to be a kitchen, illuminated from within by the light of a cook fire. You are drawn to the light like a moth to flame, but pause- just to your left, one of the cell doors hangs open. Inside you can see a bed, and under the bed, a large crack leading to a hole in the floor. You could explore one of the rooms... or you could double-back. Maybe find some oil for that trapdoor, or for your lantern. It's getting a bit low. What do you do? Hmm, the nebula thought for a moment. The crack under the bed might lead somewhere interesting... But on the other hand, the kitchen may have useful supplies, especially if it has oil. She decides to try to dim the lamp if she can before peering into the kitchen, looking for anything useful... Or out of place. Or dangerous. Or anything, really.

The shadowkyne gives the flickering technology an uneasy look and tries the light buttons a few more times, to no avail. Something feels very, very wrong here, and as much as it wants to at least stay where it's light, some deeper part of Sporty is insisting that she get the heck outta this room. After only a moment's hesitation, she bolts through the right-hand doorway. You bolt out of the door, just as behind you, from the left door, you hear a shuffling noise, and a soft, eerie groan. You book it. No way are you finding out what's making that sound. You find yourself in the wide dining room, but this time the curtain in front of the stage is wide open. A large, animatronic bear stand there, holding a microphone. Odd, the stage looks far wider than would be needed just for the bear. You glance around, spotting a nearby door from which the pizza smell is emanating. Another door, a little further up the wall, is marked "restrooms." You could follow the pizza smell- it has to be better than whatever is in the bathrooms. But if you want, you could explore in there. You might could use a splash of cold water on your face or something. Or... this dining room is interesting. There might be some stuff on the plates you could take. It looks set up for a party, maybe the staff left out a goody bag. You look around the kitchen, and see numerous hams hanging from hooks on the ceiling. At the far end of the room, a huge urn sits, emitting a weird greenish glow. Something bubbles inside, giving off a smell that burns your nose. Acid? You see a glass bottle nearby- empty, conveniently- and scoop up some of the acid into it. Might come in handy later. You exit the room, but before you can consider looking into the cell with the crack again, you hear a loud, bloodcurdling growl. You jerk around, and in the distance, you see a figure lurching towards you- a monster, like a man but taller, with a wide flapping jaw and razors affixed to it's hands. It sees you. And it's coming right for you. You only have two options- try to run around it, or dart back into the kitchen and try to hide. What do you do?

"Oh, oh dear, oh dear, he saw me, not good, not good," sums up the nebula's thoughts right now. She does not like the size of those razors, they look like they could probably kill her... So she feels less than inclined to try her luck at running by him. Ah, how she wished the kitchen was dark... Well, kitchen may be the only way to go, especially since she doesn't know the size of the crack quite yet. She slams shut the door to the kitchen (if there is one) before running and hiding by the big hams, huddling herself into a small corner and trying to be as obscured by the hams as possible, hoping it won't find her there. My reaction above is 100% accurate to whenever I had to hide in that kitchen in the game when I played it.

There is a loud slamming noise, and wood splinters fly from the door as the monster beats it down. Eventually the flimsy wood collapses inwards, and the monster shuffles into the room. You try not too look at it- doing so gives you a headache. You cower, silent, until finally the monster seems to get bored and wander off. Phew. A close shave. You wait until you're sure the monster is gone, then emerge from your hiding place. You see that in it's pursuit of you, the monster has kicked in another door. This one has a ladder going down, down, down into blackness, and you can hear splashing at the bottom. A thin film of the fleshy matter is visible, but maybe you can burn it away with your acid. You could go down it, or you could explore the crack under the bed... or you could poke around the cellblock some more. What do you do?

Well, the shadowkyne thinks, this is certainly an improvement over the last room. She barely suppresses a shudder and glances around the dining area. It does look interesting, but the pizza smell from the room nearby is even more tantalizing. That and it seems to be just a little further away from whatever's waiting in that last room. This thought, combined with an inexplicable curiosity regarding the kitchen in this place, ultimately wins her over. To the pizza!

Azzie comes in, probably completely sugar high. "Hi there, happy Halloween! Is this an arca- ooh..." She trails off. It's a little documented fact that Azzies are scared of horror games. Or of horror in general, really. You're not entirely sure what she's doing out on a day like Halloween, unless it's just because she loves candy that much. "Um... I don't think I need any candy," she says, grinning sheepishly. Figuring it would be rude to just run off, she adds "But how are you doing, ma'am?"

I don't think I need any candy," she says, grinning sheepishly. Figuring it would be rude to just run off, she adds "But how are you doing, ma'am?" Unfortunately, this effort to go off the rails backfires. Instead of answering, the woman responds with a series of videogame NPC loop dialogue about arrows to the knee, shorts being comfortable and easy to wear, and that Mr. Miles should get in the animus. Guess the lazy writer did not characterize her shopkeeper NPC much because she's supposed to be a prop. The nebula-person breathes a sigh of relief before pondering their options. The ladder sounds like a good way to go, but so could the crack under the bed. She ponders where to go before deciding to go down the ladder, using the acid to burn her way through the fleshy matter. You reach the bottom of the ladder, and find yourself in a hallway that is flooded with water up you your knees. You wonder who owns this place and why it's in such shabby repair... Whatever. You wade through the water, passing boxes floating in it occasionally. You make it around a corner, noticing a crank on the wall- and then blackness. Did you forget your lantern oil was running low? You hesitate, standing in the water unsure of what to do. Then you hear a noise. Splash.
Splash.
Splash. The splashes are regular. Rhythmic. And they're getting closer. You look around frantically, and then... Pain, a lance of sharp pain as water splashes up to drench you from top to toe. You turn sharply, bolting in panic, but you can hear the splashing thing right behind you. It lunges up again, taking part of your costume with it. You feel yourself crash into one of the boxes in the water, and lunge up onto it- FLASH-And lurch up onto the desk in the arcade, startling the woman there. She stumbles backwards a few steps and gives an awkward laugh. "Well then- welcome back, and congratulations. You made it! Here's your prize, I hope you had fun!" Well, the shadowkyne thinks, this is certainly an improvement over the last room. You poke your head into the kitchen. In the far corner of the room you see a security camera, pulled off it's moring and haning by wires, with the viewfinder burried in a pile of flour. You doubt it's getting any visuals that way. Looking around, you realize there is a box on the counter- a pizza box! Success! You dash over to the box, and open it. The pizza is a little lukewarm, but still smells perfectly fine. You stuff a slice into your mouth, chewing enthusiastically. Out of the corner of your eye you notice something. Glancing over, you realize it's a poster of the bear robot in the dining area. Except no... this bear is yellow, the other bear was brown. You curiously step closer, pizza box in your hands, but then you hear a noise; a child's giggle. It's me...You jerk backwards, your vision going blurry. Slumped in front of you is the yellow bear, lifeless, limp, but somehow exuding malice. You backpedal, and a spectral image of it's face consumes your eyes- FLASHYour pizza goes flying as you land with a thump on your back in the arcade. The woman in the Mickey costume grins. "Oh, so you found some pizza- cool! I could just let that be your prize, buuuut, rules are rules. Here you go! Hope you had fun."

The noise seems to be coming from a vending machine nearby, with a clown on it. Across the room you spot a pile of rubble, which appears to be concealing something underneath, though you can't tell from this far away. And at the far end of the room you can see another airlock. Do you approach the Circus of Values, dig through the rubble, or go through the airlock? Laurtoria squints across the room, listening out for every sound, searching for other exits or hiding places. They glare at the noisy machine that prevents them from listening properly. They are intrigued by the rubble, but loathe the idea of walking across the open space. They turn instead to the Circus of Values and inspect the machine. The word "value" has such a nice ring to it, even in this forsaken place where Laurtoria does not expect to find much of use, much less a place to resell it. If an item in the machine happens to be useful, however, it would be a pity to miss it.

You approach the machine, and look through the items for sale, but sadly it seems to require a currency you don't have. You take a step back from the machine, but then notice something sitting in the dispenser- a hypodermic needle, filled with some sort of blue liquid. Huh. You pick the needle up, wondering what's in it and why it would be dispensed by a vending machine...Then you hear a noise behind you, and whirl around. Something has come in through the airlock behind you- two somethings. One looks to be a little girl, though her skin has a sickly grey pallor and her eyes glow with a soft yellow light from within. The other...The creature points towards you, making a threatening gesture with it's drill. You maybe should run- forward or backward. Unless you want to try and lob a brick at them or something to make sure they're distracted first?

Laurtoria is almost distracted by the little girl, but the size of the other is enough to make them bolt away. Forward, because the hulking opponent seemed to be coming from behind rather than in front. Laurtoria is not pleased about this choice, as they haven't yet explored what lies ahead. They hunch as low as they can while hurrying across the room, covering the ground quite fast, glancing all around in case something had been lurking in the shadows, too still for them to notice. The needle is still clutched in one of their fists, pointed away from them. They slink somewhere between the rubble and the door and glance back, hoping to put the rubble pile between them and the creature for a moment at least, and maybe even find something to throw, provided that they don't spot anything dangerous in the rubble first.

However, before you can fully process this and decide what to do next, the airlock ahead of you opens, and a man in a rabbit mask steps through the threshold. He sees the monster, and makes a soft noise like a snarl... then aims a pistol at the monster, and fires. The reaction is instantaneous.
