Power came back on at midnight last night, so everything's good now. As Celestial said, I think it's fantastic!
Aaah, it's so great! So many nice details! Like how the ice cream is literally glowing, it's so impressive. At least to Fizxy. Slienax is not so impressed. When you've seen one ice cream, you've seen them all. But this ice cream, it's so obviously gross food, it's wonderful. And you can really tell the setting as well, with Terror Mountain and the Ice Cream Lutari there. So much fun, thank you so much!

Okay, so here's half of an art trade with Moni!  I'll be drawing Khamet soon, I just got busy over the weekend and didn't have a whole lot of time to draw! But I wanted to go ahead and post Lissandre.  I hope she looks alright! I tried to put her in a very Brightvalian setting, so motes and stained glass windows were included, naturally. Lissandre has a gorgeous design and was a lot of fun to draw (especially her hair ahhh). Thanks again Moni for agreeing to do an art trade with me! |

Oh my gosh, thank you!! This is really good, I love the way you combine the cell-shading and the color blending; it lends a really smooth look while still giving it that cartoony-neopets-y style. The lighting from the mote (by the way, the smiley face on that mote just makes me inexplicably happy) and the stained-glass backlight are nicely-rendered too... and her hair has so much volume! The background... I can never figure out how to add detail to backgrounds without them overwhelming the foreground, so the way you do that is impressive to me at least, so I thought to mention that I liked that, too, but I unfortunately lack the knowledge to say why I like it.
Her attitude here is definitely accurate to her character: confident and magical. Thank you again!
very quick edit because i've been kind of sparse but also want to comment on some other things upwards in the thread:
The art trade piece for June is great, particularly how you use the glow of the ice cream to sort of draw attention to Fizxy's face! (Too many lighting comments today! Sorry about that.) Also, I got a chuckle out of the comic with Dem and the Supreme Commander. Dem is at the level of Done-ness we should all aspire to be at.

I'm glad you like it! I do try to emulate the cartoony-neopets-y style, so that makes me really happy to hear. As for backgrounds, I try not to plan them too much (as long as there isn't any complex composition going on). I think using broader, thicker lines and strokes helps cut down on the detail. Back when I had Photoshop, I would also blur the background slightly, which allowed the foreground to stand out no matter how much detail there was. Yeah, it's a mystery what even propels Demiex through the day (mostly caffeine). Thank you again, I really appreciate your comments! I think they help me know what to focus on. |
