And no, RielCZ, I'm not putting in the Oxford comma and you can't make me So there's this story I wrote that I'm super excited about. It's about Hannah and her grandfather, an origin story of sorts that explains why she hunts for treasure in the first place, and how she knows the skills that she does. Now I pored through drsloth.com and searched for pictures of Hannah. I can only picture TWO of the 634 images shown being appropriate thumbnails, and that by a mild stretch of the imagination. Any other time, I'd send the story in as is and pray for a custom thumbnail. My question is this: Will we have custom thumbnails with the new editor? I mean, I even considered drawing my own but I'm having a very hard time mimicking the Neopets art style...sigh. This probably means more to me than it should. Heh... Thanks in advance c:

I mean, the real question is if you'd /want/ a custom with some of the current art /snicker Certainly in the short term I wouldn't expect any though.

It's doubtful. Even if it was a custom customization one, I wouldn't bet on getting one in the near future, if JSN's poor track record with Rainbow Pool images and the recent Quiggle Day clothing are any indications

Yeah, I don't think it's a question of who the editor is- right now the team has no artists, or very few very bad artists. I assume whoever did the portraits for the Altador Cup did it as a one-off commission.
Makes me realize my big sendup to the thumbnail artists for issue 650 couldn't have been better timed. =\

Agreeing with the others here, I think the likelihood is low. It's something I've dreamed of getting, a custom image that is. ... Probably sounds silly, but there it is.
Anyway, at least for now, I would say no. My friend Anemone (fairyxhearts) pointed out that Snaw's current story thumbnail was drawn by someone back in issue 200-something. This time, they didn't give the artist proper credit, so... yeah. x_O;; Who knows how that sort of thing will go. At least that means they are looking through old images for the Times thumbnails?

Perhaps you could request someone here to draw a custom image for you, as there are a number who can emulate the Neopian style well.

So I don't know if this would be in the same vein as "testing" the new NT editor, but you know what would be kind of fun? I noticed they STILL have not activated nor released images of the pastel gelert. What if we all submitted stories with the MC being a pastel gelert? Would that force them to finally release the image? Mostly joking. But I still think it would be kind of funny. But if it would also be a bit mean, then it's a no go from my point of view.

I find that rather amusing, actually. And as long as it's done tastefully, I see no issue, honestly. But seriously, though? How long has it been since that color was released?

Totally want to do that. XD
Also have another question: for images and thumbnails can we use tinyurl? I'm LITERALLY about to hit the send button and if it fails I'll be beside myself. XD;;;;

Petty? Selfish? I wouldn't say this question was any of those things. In fact, I'm curious too. Because these custom thumbnails I always took to be Neostaff's insight into what unseen characters looked like.
On the other hand, maybe they wouldn't put that much thought into it and just make an elderly looking Usul talking to a young Hannah. But either way, I'm down for testing the waters, if I could. I have a question of my own though, does this new editor know that they can hold entries for later weeks? A "holdover" if you will? Or do they just accept and reject, no middle ground?
Also, this whole subforum is kinda in limbo, isn't it? Has the new Times editor made themselves public yet? Can't have an NT Staff Call with no staff to call on.

The new editor has not made their presence here, as far as I know. However, just because we do not know who the editor is does not mean that this forum or subforum is in danger. Far from it. NT Staff Call is a bit of a misnomer as we've been able to help our fellow writers even when Droplet was not on the site, based on what we know on Neo and our experiences when submitting.

Apparently they do; I just received a holdover Neomail. (After office hours. Maybe someone's really excited about their new job.)
