"Did someone say you didn't? How would they know? If there's no god in your universe then how would anyone know?" They paced around for a bit."But as long as you're alive, it shouldn't matter. Spirits aren't always useful. Be glad you do not have to deal with this mess." "I've been told several times I have no soul. I don't know there's no god. It's what I believe, because there's no proof. The religions I'm aware of all demand you believe blindly, and tell its followers to condemn followers of other religions for doing the exact same thing. It's stupid." "Proof or not, sometimes there is and sometimes there isn't. Most people in this universe believe in other types of gods, of course that are not true. I'm not really sure if this universe even has a god....maybe things that are god-like, but not a singular ruler." They paused for a moment."I find that religion is used to cope. To help humans. They do not like the idea of something more powerful than them that is not human-like as well."

There's a religion where some big tree-creature is the one true god. If there is a god in my universe, I hope it's that one. They're kind of okay. Do all dragons know what you know? Or are there varying religions among dragons?

But no, very few dragons know what I know. This universe is not my own."

Is there an afterlife you will go to when you die?

But if there is an afterlife it won't be like the one this universe has. I've never seen past this point though. So I am unsure if this one even has one."

I'd like to go back now, please... You should come to the city, some time."

"Very confusing. And....i'll think about it. Perhaps if some things go differently, I might visit." They spread their fin-like wings and backed up."It was nice to talk to you this time." They leapt into the air and climbed higher into the whiteness with a couple of flaps. Something small and blue glowed near their neck, and soon enough the air rippled open above them - the view inside was blurry but it was the only other sense of colour or physicality in this place besides them as figures. They flew through and the opening collapsed behind them.

The stillness lasted for only a moment more.

Time for a mouse. She caught one in her sand, stuffing its mouth so it could not cry out. She lowered it down toward the sludge beasts, and flung it towards them. This time the whole group flinched in response. They stared at it in tense silence for some seconds before one took a large paw and quickly batted the dazed mouse into one of the tar puddles.
The mouse tried to pull away, but like hot glue it's movements were increasingly slowed as the consistency around it thickened. It soon became submerged.
As if to a rhythm or pattern the tar rippled, gradually pulling itself in to resemble something slightly more solid. Small tendrils reached out from it to the skull's underside. The mass lifted itself back up to nestle within and begin a slower process of working longer tendrils down the neck and into the body again. With a now secured grip, the creature carefully got back up. A small round of sounds arose from the group. They took some moments to brush against their now-standing member, then huddled around the one that still lay down.

She prepared herself to kill them, but glanced around again, as if looking for another rat. There was a loud thud on the rooftop that managed to dislodge some of the layers of dust from the walls. It was followed by a surprisingly long and loud string of cursing.
The creatures looked up.

He was lying down on his back, wings sprawled and finishing a round of coughing. .....I can't believe you want me to do that again. Another voice was heard, though it sounded rather static-y."Well it wasn't supposed to change. I told you, I checked this over at least three times."

She smirked a little, but slid up quickly next to Artemis."Shh!"
