Chiller hesitated, then stood back. Tuce, still clinging to him, gave her a wild look. "Chiller! Help me!" He pulled higher up, but the room wasn't large enough to support his full wingspan. The feathers scratched and beat the walls with every flap. With both hands Artemis tried to wrench Tuce's grip off of him. |

Artemis slammed through, bounced against the ground underneath, then kicked off again. He was already gaining height, but each flap was shaky and harder than the last. |

Tuce cried out, but lost her grip on him. He tucked his wings and immediately dove for the window. Artemis slammed through, bounced against the ground underneath, then kicked off again. He was already gaining height, but each flap was shaky and harder than the last. "You okay? Where did you take them?" Tuce clutched at her hand. "I'm not telling you!" Chiller shrugged and went through the window after Artemis. "Whatever." |

He tucked his wings and immediately dove for the window. Artemis slammed through, bounced against the ground underneath, then kicked off again. The sound of running steps came down the hall. --- After he managed a glide over the top of another torn building, Artemis stagnated. Another flash of white light shot out from him - it quickly dissipated into an upward wisp. Then he crumpled and dropped from the sky. |

"Ash... he's acting like a wild animal." Her damaged parts were emitting soft light.--- She lowered him slowly to the ground. "Artemis?" |

Ash stopped short of the door, out of breath and panicked looking. --- He hit Chiller's sand limply, covered in a ball of his disarrayed feathers. "Ash... he's acting like a wild animal." Her damaged parts were emitting soft light.--- She lowered him slowly to the ground. "Artemis?" He spoke between heavy breaths. "Artemis? ....I.....told him.....he ran...sent weewoo..... where?" --- As he unfolded, it was immediately apparent that there was no more glowing. His hair had changed to a full gray, and his forehead was cleared. He lay still, eyes closed. His breath was there, but it was shallow. |

Chiller pet his feathers. "Everyone is okay, Artemis. It was scary, but we're okay." Artemis was still, but Chiller was able to start smoothing his feathers down. Chiller slung Artemis across her back in a fireman's carry and headed back to the research facility. Art's wings dragged behind them. Ash stopped. "Is he.....what happened?" "Spirit told me we were hurting him and needed to let him go. I did, he fled. When he was flying he released some white energy and then he fell from the sky. I caught him." |
