Haha, well that's good for me, I guess XD My biggest problem with the AC is my lack of commitment. You see, since I'm not good at games, I don't want to play them. And when I don't play them, I don't get better. I also don't have a passion to get better that can help push me through the mediocre, as I've never been into games.
The AC is fun though, just for the community hype and Neopian lore behind it, which I can use as a push. I just haven't taken advantage of that yet X)

I honestly find the Altador Cup very fun. I love the routine of getting up, checking the results, having breakfast, playing YYB while listening to music or WTNV, and all the sandwiches I eat throughout the day! I set my targets high, and I can climb the ranks fairly quickly all in all.
And it's when I describe this that I wonder how on earth I never realised I was autistic before last autumn.

Epic Glitchtravaganza 10...here we come! With the site going down periodically almost daily due to duping, there's probably nothing more frustrating than your AC score failing to send because...oh wait...lag induced downtime.
Honestly...how is this a good idea when Jumpstart hasn't really shown any effective "fix" for...anything? During the previous ACs, I took TNT for granted...sure there were hiccups but they actually tried to fix them, and did a decent job at it. I know I shouldn't judge Jumpstart before the cup even starts but their track record isn't one to phone home about. /rant

I wonder if they'll remember to put the event board up this time.. If not at least we can keep hanging out on Virtupets, or move to Games or something, but not everyone will know to go to those.

Well… I’m still gonna enjoy this (at least if Jumpstaff manage to make such a big event work without making the site crash). As I said once, I kinda love the Altador Cup despite all its obvious flaws and problems. It might be because I’ve only known the current system. I can’t compare it to the old one. I think the event is worth it, even if it’s just for the lore, the fun games, and the team spirit. This is the most similar thing I have to supporting a sports team… and I really like it. Truth be told, I’m not even going to reach rank All-Star. That’s completely impossible for me. I’ve got a real life, a job, a boyfriend to spend my weekends with… I need to accept my limits. Last year, I got rank 14. That’s more than enough. I don’t want to be a slave for the AC. I don’t think I would enjoy it that much if I did. I just want to relax and have fun. And… yes, I do know cheaters gonna cheat. It would be great if JS solved that issue, but I’d say that’s not very likely to happen . Besides, the prizes might not be awesome. (The last prize shops were not really amazing, in fact). I wonder if JS has got some stuff drawn by the old TNT. If they haven’t… Well, let’s see. Despite all this, I’m still ready to enjoy and support my dear team as much as real life lets me. A makeover would be good, that’s a fact. But I’m going to have fun with this for the time being (assuming the event is going to be a copy/paste of the last AC, of course). I’ll try to ignore the existence of cheaters, playing and cheering my team for the fun of it, whether they win or they lose, as I have always done. That’s the spirit. This is just a game! That said… GO TERROR MOUNTAIN!!! ^__^

Well said, saramar. ^^ Ditto here- as long as it's not too glitchy to function, I'm going to have as much fun as I feasibly can with the Altador Cup, and bugger all to the cheaters or All-Star-Groups or poorly set up bracket system. (And anyone who wants to do a lil private competition with is still welcome to do so. We can set something up, should be fun!) Oh yeah, and GO DARIGAN CITADEL!

The biggest slap in the face is when you try to submit a score and it times out. If they manage to stop that from happening,as in maintaining the site through lags rather than pulling the plug, this might be enjoyable.

I'm pretty much with saramar and Shinko here. I've long since accepted that there's no chance at the bugged metagame, and I doubt that Jumpstart will be able to fix those problems, but as long as I can sit and enjoy a few games of Slushie Slinger, I'm sold.

I'm really glad to see some optimism for the Altador Cup here. Because honestly, I feel none myself, it's not even due to Jumpstaff, I just don't care much for the event, it got old before I was even done doing it for the first time. But seeing other people here being excited makes me feel better that it's going to happen, at least some will enjoy it.

Well, although part of me is.... more than a little worried, I actually have great memories of the cup and making friends with the different teams. Krawk Citadel 4 ever, I say. The folks really are supportive and the community makes it worth looking forward to. Part of me really wants to look forward to it since there are some amazing Neopians I've met over the years through the AC. And so many fun articles and stories, too. I dunno. Maybe it's worth being hopeful? Like, one of my favorite things to do was make "Happy thoughts!" boards on the AC chat where folks could say nice comments about players from other teams. It was always a good sight to see good sportsmanship and the like.

Despite my complaints, the Altador Cup is one of my favorite Events. Its why I wanted TNT to skip it this year so they could have worked on fixing it, so it could be good again. I love the concept, all the worlds getting together to compete in a sports game, the idea of the worlds actively doing something together in an Event really hasn't been done then and since. And while there was no major story, it had something no other site event had as it really felt like a live event. Most players playing for their team and their playing effecting whether their team wins or loses. You could say it was sort of alive. Plus we had "small" stories connected around it, heck we had a TON of characters from the players of each team alone TNT put effort into making unique. If I had to pick an AC to base this AC on, I would suggest AC5. It used the updated version of old Yooyuball and added Achievements. Of course it did use Double Round Robin, though maybe they could shorten it to Single Round Robin because, while giving a team a second chance is nice, at the same time if you make it one game it may encourage people to play harder. Of course they may not be able to do anything about cheaters or freeloaders, but personal I like what they did with the trophies last year to award those who actually worked hard. And being TNT no longer awarded the winners any additional prize for winning, whoever wins is just for bragging rights (though past years we essentially determined by cheaters, let's not forget the actual players on those teams who played hard legitimately). Tl;dr, looking through it maybe is possible to cobble together a decent Altador Cup, taking the best parts from previous Events. Though I am curious what they would do about team changes, adding a new team member (like a Vandagyre who could REALLY use a site character), and the prizes & trophies. As of recent TNT had got it down to 1 team exchange and 1 new introduced player, and though I would like to see more for JS's first attempt this might be something they should stick to. As for the prizes and trophies, well they could look through past year's prizes which shared some patterns and brainstorm ideas there. It would be great if they could maybe get some old TNT artists back as freelance (or rehire them), but I could only imagine there would be uncomfortable tension there that JS would want to avoid. Have we seen any JS art yet? I want to try to trust JS but without knowing if they've showed us they can replicate TNT's art style or bring their own which is just as good I can't really say. No matter what happens, I think I can safely say it'll be an interesting experiment on both JS's part and for the player's to witness. This is it JS, you're chance to prove you're really dedicated to Neopets. GO TEAM MERIDELL!

Team Faerieland? What could I lose right?
Shouldn't we have a Yooyuball Hall of Fame now? I'll put one nomination in for "Dasher" Soley.

A YYB Hall of Fame sounds like an excellent idea. If nothing else, it'll make an awesome NT article.
