So they awarded the userlookup spotlight to a premade. A stolen premade. At least they are consistent - theft is okay when staff /and/ users do it.

But they enact a policy as if they are against theft (no advertising BC entries offsite)...except that the policy itself is dumb and has led to a dungshow.

... What in the world?
It appears that site themes are more broken now on the main/first page now. There's a header of the 6 elemental faeries, but it also causes the main/first page to have a white border. I've yet to confirm if it occurs on all site themes, but I can confirm that using the Winter Holiday will have this coding error appear

Maybe they didn't know in this case? That's no good, though. Of course they didn't know, that's the problem. Aside from CQ who's strictly deals with Neopian Times issues, there is so little interactions between JS and players that JS are out of touch with us. Heck, there seems to be a miscommunication between their departments as I can't imagine their legal department likes their art department is tracing images that could possibly be owned by another company.

They almost certainly didn't know - and to be fair I'm not sure there are many users on the site who would recognise /every single/ premade on sight. But this was noticed pretty much as soon as the entry won and reported (and there's been threads on the art board and reddit). To still have the entry up is the problem, because /someone/ at JS is aware.

As Duke Pikachu pointed out, it doesn't seem like they have an efficient method of communicating between departments (something they probably should have worked out before trying to run the company out of two different countries an 18+ hour plane ride away from each other). It would not surprise me at all if some lowly moderators know what's up but don't know who to contact about it.

*sigh*
How frustrating indeed. :/ Y'all make very good points. I just hope something is done about this or it will send the wrong message to honest and dishonest code-writers alike.

Unless JS stops disrespecting artists.

See, I defended them about the stolen premade on Reddit because I thought "how could they ever know that, and check every single premade site"....until the guy who posted it said he found it through reverse google imaging, which took them about 5 seconds.
Seems like something JS could afford to do - maybe not for every entrant, but for every entrant they are putting forward as the bloody winner.
Oh, and the fact they don't have a report button for the UL spotlight seems like a pretty major oversight (which I understand isn't their fault, but when I get the time (read: can be bothered), I might send a ticket in about that. I'm surprised there haven't been enough tickets flooding the system by now that they've taken it down. Maybe it's that seeming lack of communication between departments.

www.neopets.com/ul_spotlight.phtmlApparently the stolen premade userlookup is no longer the winner of this week's contest? (Just checked the account and the trophy has also been removed).
