I submitted the first part to my series around a month ago and it was held over. I have just finished the second part and I want to start working on the third. But then it hit me, what if the second part doesn't get accepted? Is that possible? For a second part of a series not be accepted since I didn't submit it like most series, which are all together?

Umm... Sorry to break it to you, but this is probably one of the main reasons why you're supposed to submit every part of a series together. I'm not sure what the format of your series is or why you chose to submit each part differently, but my guess is that (unless this is a comic series you're talking about rather than a written one) each part was/will be submitted to the "short stories" section and will appear as such. This will give the series the impression/format of a set of short stories (or comics) that are linked together like sequels or a comic arc, and since the parts weren't all submitted together and the first is already held over they are not likely to appear in back-to-back issues. NT readers are used to this kind of format, though, so if your second part doesn't get held over right away there's nothing stopping you from taking the time to improve the part in whatever way was necessary so that you can submit it again. My recommendation at this point would be to go ahead and work on the third part for now while submitting the second once you're sure it's ready for publication, but wait to submit the third part until the second is officially held over. That way, if it does get rejected for whatever reason, you'll be able to go back and edit the second part without risking that the series accidentally gets published in the wrong order. (Plus if something has to be changed in the second part that affects the third, you'll be able to go ahead and make the necessary changes in the third part before submitting it.)

Sorry, I should have mentioned it's a comic series. ^^; I haven't submitted the second part of the comic series yet, so it hasn't gotten rejected, but I was being cautious wondering if it is possible for it to get rejected when it's supposed to follow a previous story.
I guess I'll start working on the third part anyway then, thank you.
