Have you always wanted to name your very own space station? Do you enjoy that space station not being piloted into black holes? Is the year 2,715 also your favorite year? Then good news, civilian! Here is your chance! So for no reason and OF COURSE not at all related to forthcoming forum events, icon, Killix, and I need suggestions for SPACE STATION NAMES. The best will be put into a poll and fought to the death... voted on. GODSPEED, SPACE BUDDIES.

Name it Stal. 8D *brick'd*
Don't have any serious suggestions yet but I do want to throw out this idea: the station has a serial number and then it has a nickname based on that serial number. So, for example, a space station with the serial number P3GSS might get the nickname 'Pegasus'? *shrugs*
...Actually, put that down as a name: P3GSS aka Pegasus.

Louisa! Mabel! Doris! Mi Casa! Or the SS Webster. The Flying Richem. The Big Momma. The Space Whale. The Aesop (aka A-35OP if you'd like more numbers, because that's a fancy idea, Celestial.) The SS Bae. (aka B-43? xD) The String of Numbers. The Metaspace. (I'll think some more ^.^; It would help to know about the station's design and purpose.)

The space station was initially designed as a "home base" for mining ships. x3 It's a basically a city unto itself. Quite large, with a whole burgeoning society within. It has been at anchor for quite some time, but due to an impending energy crisis, the powers at be are considering relocating it to a new quadrant of the galaxy in search of new resources to exploit... use.

Since it's a mining station, maybe name it after one of the more precious metals, material, or element? Like... SS Platinum? Gold Harbor? Or something along those lines?
SS Unobtainium

DEATHSTAR DEATHSTAR
...SPACEBUD?
Do we have any semblance of the shape of the station? For example, it wouldn't be very apt to name it something like THE SPACEBALL if it's a giant pyramid. (Unless irony is a goal.)
Also, is there any preference to naming convention? Something like S.S. Xnamehere might not be appropriate if the history didn't follow the same conventions as our Europe-centric vernacular.
Are puns and references out of the question? I wouldn't be too opposed to something like Aeronosis/Pyronosis or the Decade Phoenix or something. <_< And sci-fi shows also use pretentious-sounding nouns (as Liou hinted above) for their spacecraft sometimes (the Enterprise. the Coincidence. etc) so maybe, like. the Notoriety. the Application. the Purveyor.
Are we also looking for names for districts (a la Bern and Courdon and whatnot) separately from the name of the station itself? If we have creative names for those, or if the station is more a glomming together of smaller stations or large vessels commanded by certain factions, we could also let each faction could name their own district/ship.
...but in all seriousness and productivity, Aeronosis and The Purveyor would probably be my two most legitimate suggestions. <_<

Well, the station is not from Earth (or whatever planet the past games were on), so "SS insertnamehere" or other such Earthlike naming conventions are probably not the way to go.

Reading back through these, and I don't think I'm likely to come up with anything better than "the Spaceball". xD That was a fantastic name, Coaster. I definitely want to see that in the poll! Also really like the idea of a mine-y name, as GLQ suggested. Gold Harbor is nice. If nothing else, can we at least have a space inn called the "Platinum Platypus"? =D Actually have nothing to suggest myself, besides animalmine themed inn names haha...I will keep an eye on this thread though, very excite.
