This thread is for when you want to boost your word count, spice things up, or just do something silly to change the pace. Dares are things you take on to make you think in ways you wouldn't normally. Dares are a great way to kick-start your creative juices, or just up the fun level.
There's a traditional format for dares, although you aren't required to use it.
Dare: Use this conversation somewhere in your story: Character A (trying to act tough): "I own this town!" Character B: "You bought the town!?" - Bonus points: If Character A actually DID buy the town. Double points: If that ends the plot.
Dare: Work at least one Disney song line into your novel. Bonus points: If you work a whole song in over the course of the novel. Double bonus points: If it all makes sense in context.
Dare: Have a character burst into song. Bonus points: If multiple characters join in, complete with choreography. Double bonus points: If this is seen as entirely normal.
[10:07:54 PM] Avery: I still have 0 words, but I did just have a five hour voice/video chat in which I saw beautiful severed ears and rotting bisons so I think that was a productive day.
[10:09:43 PM] Lizzie: IM SORRY
Dare: Describe a new character in a lengthy and detailed paragraph. Kill them in the very next sentence. Bonus: If their death is described very simply. "and then Guan Yu rode out and fell him with one swipe." Double Bonus: If they're never mentioned ever again.
Dare: Spend 250 words or more describing a place, only to have it never appear or mentioned in the story ever again. Bonus: Do this more than once with multiple locations.
