Anyone up for warring today?
I can't post what I'm writing right now because it's a Super Plot Twist Spoiler Zone. *giggles giddily*

Sounds good. ^^ I'll be working on the third story for the Ballad series, working title "Junction" though that's subject to change if I think of something better. XD Trying to convey the idea of a turning point or a climax, without using those terms.

You as well! = D 482 words. How'd you do? The squire walked over to where Ohu stood waiting, and pulled out several lengths of cord from the saddlbags. These in hand, he set about binding the hillmen, while the uni sauntered off to scout the surrounding area.
It was thankless work, this business of bandit hunting. So many of these men and women who went with the robbers were related to the very people they stole from. True, the lawful citizens would be glad to have robbers off of their backs, but they would be less thrilled about their sons, daughters, and cousins being hauled up before the magistrate.
“Woods are clear, kid,” Ohu called. “You can stop broiling yourself.”
With no small amount of relief, the squire nodded. He pulled the helm from his head, revealing himself to be a faerie bori. He was youngish, with pale blue fur and deep navy hair. His eyes were burnt gold, and across his right cheek was a long diagonal scar. He sighed with relief to get the stuffy helm off; he hated it, but it was neccesary.
Ohu was inspecting Gary’s work on the bandit who’d been hiding in the brush. As he looked over the results of the squire’s spellcasting he clucked his tongue critically.
“You’ll want to get some actual rope on this one,” he said, looking over his shoulder at the young warrior. “The branches aren’t sturdy enough to hold him much longer. Look, they’re already starting to crack under the strain. Honestly, if you’re going to actually use this magic tripe you could at least be good at it.”
The armored bori sighed, but did not deign to reply. He was well used to the uni’s barbed tongue, having worked with him for over two years. Not that Ohu didn’t mean what he said- he absolutely did, every word of it. But Gary had learned to brush most of it off. No amount of embarrassment or offense on Gary’s part was going to make the uni change; Ohu would find fault with the king’s champion, where he in the presence of that worthy.
The squire reached into his saddlebags, pulling out yet another long hank of rope. He then set about cutting the bandit free from the entangling bush with his pickax. The squire could have tried to free the man with magic, but he didn’t quite dare. If he used any more spells in his current state he’d be swooning from the strain within seconds.
A short horn blast in the distance, followed by three long notes, signaled that Valrigard’s party had successfully caught the remaining brigands. No doubt they’d arrive here within the next half hour to collect Gary’s prisoners and relieve the squire. In the meantime, he could look forward to mud, rain, and the reproachful glares of the bruised and battered captives.
The bori sighed. Whoever thought being a knight was glorious?

202 words! Which is not too shabby for me.
Oh man, I am having so much fun writing this character's body language. He's a Lupe and I'm pulling out all the stops with the canine expressions. I think it's making him about ten times more adorable than if he didn't have mobile ears and a tail.
Want to go again?

On the half hour and for 15 minutes sound good again?
I really liked your segment, by the way! You write some really engaging and sympathetic characters, and I love all of the detail you go into. I'm excited to read your stuff in the NT!

Sounds good to me. And thank you very much. ^///^ I love these characters, and the dynamics between Gary and Ohu are a blast to write. I have kind of an affinity for writing snarky, sharp-tongued characters, lol.

Snarky characters are the best, haha. They sound like they have an awesome dynamic.
I am probably going to gush about this one character the whole time, even though I can't reveal his identity because it's one of the biggest plot twists of the story. But he's adorable. I was having a really hard time figuring out his angle in his introduction, because he has an antagonistic role but I didn't want to portray him as cruel or sadistic, but then I stumbled upon the idea that he's just ignorant on a lot of subjects, and is so stubborn and prideful that he thinks he knows best anyway.

407 words this round. Got distracted fact-checking the previous story for the name of Valrigard's uni. XD Villains that aren't 2D cardboard cutouts are hard, but a lot of fun! The main villain in this story is actually antagonistic largely because he's very sheltered and paranoid, and tends to have a very skewed impression of how the world actually works. Playing off that idea of "what if the Brightvale obsession with intelligence/wisdom went too far?" As he waited for the others, Gary found himself leaning heavily against Ohu’s neck. He tried not to make it obvious to their captives, lest they get any notions to rebell. His vision was getting a little fuzzy around the edges, and he knew that if he didn’t sit down soon his exhausted body would settle that matter without his consent. Using magic always exhausted him, probably because he seldom practiced. As with anything physical, stamina in spellcasting came with working long hard hours against his own limits. He seldom had time.
When at last Valrigard’s squad arrived with the rest of the bandits, Gary could see that they’d not had an easy time of it. Only four of the ten militiamen where mounted, and unlike Ohu none of these unis had any real combat training. Ohu and Valrigard’s mare Corey, had been drilling the recruits until they dropped, but it couldn’t substitute the formal training that duo had received.
Thinking of Corey and her partner, the squire scanned the crowd for them. To his surprise, the blue draik who was Gary’s knight master was not alone astride the speckled uni. There was a green scorchio, no more than fifteen years in age, riding double in front of the knight. One of his legs was hanging slightly limp, as if he’d hurt it, and there was a grimace on his face.
“Squire, your report?” Valrigard asked, as if there wasn’t an injured man leaning on his chest. The Bori forced himself to stand upright and saluted, putting the flat of his sword against his forehead.
“Got four here, sir,” he said. “Most of them spooked pretty fast after Ohu started in on them. I’d say you’ve got most of the lot.”
“I’d spook too, if I was on the receiving end of yon uni’s anger,” the scorchio remarked, and Gary felt a smile tug at the corner of his mouth. He kept his face formally straight with some difficulty.
“They’ve surrendered, them that didn’t run,” the squire went on. “Neither I nor Ohu were hurt too bad, though Ohu has a few bruises and a graze on his flank.”
“And the kid is about ready to collapse as soon as you say he can,” Ohu put in helpfully. “He decided in his infinite wisdom to throw half-learned magic around again.”
Gary shot a scowl at his partner. “You’re not helping.”
“Who said I was trying to help?”

257! And I broke 19k!
Why do I feel like this is going to be another one of those days I am going to spend entirely writing.
Did you want to go again?
Man. Writing this guy's lines is so much fun. He has a very sarcastic, dark sense of humor. And is super full of himself.
I think it's fair to say he's stealing the show at the moment.

Sounds good!
And yours is awesome! I love making fun of Brightvale, haha. I love Ohu's and Gary's banter! And nice touch with the magic stamina thing.
My antagonist is antagonistic because he's a self-absorbed kleptomaniac and enjoys hoarding things he decides he wants, and doesn't understand the even bigger problems that arise with that when he decides he wants another living thing. And, like I mentioned before, because of his past and lifestyle he doesn't understand how a lot of fundamental things work, so he can be unintentionally cruel and negligent. He's really a fascinating psychological study.
Also he is fluffy.
