Haven't drawn this guy in a while =o Dunno if this looks any different from my usual stuff because this is my first picture done completely in Paint SAI. I got free trials for that and Manga Studio after the digital program discussion on Sidewalk Chalk Chatter, and I've been playing around with both to compare with PS. First of all, WOW, both those programs put PS's line art to shame XD Also, Zoey , you're right about that marker tool because it works BEAUTIFULLY with skin =D Do I get to do an "I TOLD YOU SO" dance? XD I'm just kidding; I was also one of those that used to struggle with rendering and blending in Photoshop for literally the entirety of my undergraduate years until I saw people using markers in SAI and decided to try it out... wanted to facedesk so many times after that, man. LOL! Another pro with SAI is that you get to adjust the blending settings, which is super cool, because you can get like, watercolor-y effects, or just straight up marker/paint without having to switch brush sets And an added bonus is that if you ever do decide to get the full version of SAI, it's way, WAAAAAAAAAAAAY cheaper than PS (screw you PS with your stupid subscriptions, and before that, the $500 price tags for each of your software packages that get replaced within a year or two). No clue how manga studio stacks up, though; I think someone mentioned that it doesn't really do color? (but on the topic of the actual picture EEEEEEEE yes this forum needs more Hiccup. Are you still holding out on seeing the sequel? because the sequel IS SO WORTH and is DEFINITELY not a case of "bad sequel syndrome". I also think Hiccup looks even cuter in said sequel, as well as Astrid. And Toothless is still the adorably fierce dragon we all know and love)

Zoey I mean, I never opposed the perks of Paint SAI, I guess I just never got around to trying it until now (is lazy) XD I'm still playing around with the marker and other brush tools, so besides skin, I'll see how well it works with other textures I may use. With the marker, I feel like I have less control than if I lowered the opacity on a PS brush as the former takes longer to make darker colors, but that may just take adjusting on my part. Those other settings sound cool, I'll have to experiment with those as well :3 It's definitely nice that you only pay for SAI once, and it's not even that bad a price tag. I lucked out with getting PS before subscriptions were enacted, so I could have the best of both worlds, really XD Manga as well you only pay for once, and its price is comparable to SAI (the Pro version, not the Ex. That is insanely expensive =o). Manga does have a full color wheel to choose from, but I'm unsure how complex you can get with coloring. I'm sure it's not comparable to the effects of SAI or PS, though. Even if I were to play with that, I unfortunately can't show any of it here as Manga has gone out of its way to not let me keep whatever I make (for the free trial version, they disable the save, export, and copy functions). I could perhaps screenshot the image or take a phone picture, but with how adamant they are not to let me keep stuff, I'm sort of nervous publicly posting a picture and saying I made it for free on their program XD (And yes, I am still holding out on seeing the sequel x) It's not at all me judging it as bad in comparison to the first; in fact, just seeing little bits from it, I can tell that it's a good movie. It's really just personal barriers with me. Few things legitimately make me feel anxious to the point where I don't know how to overcome it, and that movie is one of those things. It's strange, I know, and maybe I'll get better in the future, but for now, I squirm just thinking about watching it. Plus, anything Astrid-related will just deter me from it further XD Aaaaand I still think that first movie Hiccup looks better than sequel Hiccup XD (however, when is that going to start sounding creepy, if it hasn't already? He's 15 in the first movie, and I just turned 19. I don't know how I can keep saying that in the years to come xP))

I think I discovered how the artists on Steven Universe make their backgrounds; they just use the marker and watercolor tools on Paint SAI XD Here's my second SAI drawing, as well as a future BC entry for the Royalty and Leaders theme to coincide with the NT collab :3

This, uh, sort of distracted me these past few days. But I drew a few Faeries! Jhuidah, Illusen, Taelia Ilere, Siyana, Psellia Nuria, Nereid, Briana Let's see if this'll fit... Also, Kyn that struck my mind when drawing her as well! I sort of started with the rule of "no skirts or dresses," and I guess I ended up with some Arabian/moon outfit x)

In time for the holiday, here's a Valentine's themed request: (Fred the Aisha owned by Chanty) I also dabbled a little further into animation, and I've made a small (messy) head turn/blink animation x)

Yeah, I don't think I've posted any pictures of her before; that's Jonathon's biological mother.

After a large scholarship hunt, one of the feasible contests I'm going to enter is a "Frame My Future" scholarship. Basically, it's a picture frame company asking contenders to create a visual piece accompanied with a short explanation on how we see our future career. Sticking with cartooning/storytelling/generally just art-ing, I made this for it: I'm super excited with how it turned out! Also glad I got it done before the Wednesday deadline xD Once I enter it, it'll go through a judging process, along with all the other submissions, until a handful are selected as finalists. From then on, the finalists are voted upon by the general public until five winners are chosen. Hopefully I'll have good luck with this!
