You're running a bit late with your trick-or-treating. But you can see there's a big beige house at the end of this lane, and it looks quite promising--brightly lit and inviting. The only downside is that to get there you have to hike up a long, winding driveway flanked by dying trees on either side.
You're trudging up this pathway when you hear hurried footsteps coming from the house. Soon, a girl bedecked in some outlandish sorcerer costume sprints past you with a crazed, haggard look, not even seeing you as she flies by, frantically dialing something on her iMod. You're almost up to the house at last, but you can still distantly hear her shrieking behind you.
"Hello? Fly-By-Night Halloween Real Estate?" you hear her cry breathlessly. "This is the last straw! The last. straw. I'm never renting one of your labs again!"
You shrug it off. She looked pretty nuts.
Arriving at last, you find that the beige house's porch is decorated with fake cobwebs and fake yellow "CAUTION: DO NOT CROSS" tape.
Cute, you think.
On a stand by the door, there's a big bowl of candy, unattended but for the "Please help yourself" sign just above it. Ducking the caution tape, you climb onto the porch and examine the candy choices and decide it was definitely worth the hike up here. I mean, sure all the wrappers have this odd, fine little print, but these are full size candy bars, and you're not going to argue with that. You take a particularly delicious-looking chocolate bar and turn to leave--
--Except you're not standing on a porch any more. You're suddenly standing in a long, twisting beige corridor, no doors in sight.
You're confused. And then your confusion turns to panic when a pale ghost in a lab coat descends before you. He clicks his ghostly pen and scribbles something down on his equally ethereal clipboard.
"Thank you for volunteering for our mortals study," he says brightly. "Please proceed at your leisure through the house. You will be closely monitored, and moreover you will be rewarded handsomely for your efforts upon your discovering the exit."
And then he evaporates. You look about wildly.
To your right, the corridor makes a rushing sound like water. To your left, the corridor bends around a corner, and you hear scrabbling noises.

Dalek Ted considers its options, deciding on balance to try the passage to the left. Hopefully the creature making the scrabbling noise won't be able to bite through cardboard dalekenium.

Azzie looks around, fascinated. "Hi mist- oh!" She jumps when the ghost vanishes. Weighing her options, she decides to follow the dalek. The water sounds inviting, but scrabbling sounds might mean animals to pet!

GLQ stands there for a moment, staring dumbfounded at the hallway with the candy in her hand. She jumped when she heard the click of the pen and turned in time to hear the ghost's words. She raised an eyebrow. A study? What were they studying? ...Was this a "rat through the maze" kind of study? GLQ wasn't sure.
GLQ looked through both hallways and frowned at the left one. Scrabbling wasn't generally good sign. She had no idea how peaceful this place could be yet. On the other hand, water was generally the place to go for living creatures, and they didn't have to be peaceful either.
But maybe with water, there was a river or some sort of stream. Maybe there was a chance of her figuring out which way to go from there. Warily, she headed into the right corridor.

Ah great, it's ghosts again, the kid can't help but think as he looks down the corridor. Last time he went trick-or-treating in a place like this, he got stuck listening to ghosts drivel on for ages. Perhaps this year he won't fall down a hole again.
There's a few people travelling toward the scrabbling noise. Nod, nod, adjust the goggles, follow the others down the hall. It's probably better to stick with the group, the kid can't help but think.

Luvdisc is glad she left this house for last, as she now seems to be trapped in it.
Luvdisc is confused at seeing most people go to the left corridor. Luvdisc clearly hears water to the right, and water is Luvdisc's second favorite thing in the entire world, right behind love. At least she's not completely alone. The ghost took the right path too. Yay!

There's a few people travelling toward the scrabbling noise. Nod, nod, adjust the goggles, follow the others down the hall. It's probably better to stick with the group, the kid can't help but think. The three of you head cautiously towards the scrabbling noise. As you're about to turn the corner, an especially loud, gloating "OHH!" is heard, and this is followed by even more raucous scratching and wailing. You let the Dalek go first. In this part of the endless corridor, you find--five zombies sitting at a folding table playing Scrabble. " 'Brains' only has one 'A'!" one objects, pointing accusingly at the zombie to his left. "It's not 'brains,' it's ' braaaiiins.' " "But that's not fair! I was saving that Triple Word Score!" Suddenly they look up and see you. Sure they're not interested in eating dalekenium, but they're not exactly ideal for petting. "Solve this Scrabble dispute and we'll eat your brains," they say with a threatening moan. You're not sure if they have that backwards or not. If you are in possession of a brain, you might be interested in the forked corridor ahead: One side glows green with mold, the other yellow with age. Or you can try to explain how to spell "brains." Your call. Maybe there was a chance of her figuring out which way to go from there. Warily, she headed into the right corridor. As you head down the right corridor, the floor begins gradually sloping downwards, and all of a sudden you find yourself up to your knees in a little indoor stream. That's odd--there seem to be aquarium fish swimming at your ankles. How pretty....Are those piranha? What on earth do they have to do with Halloween? Stay calm. You've got several options. You can run through the water blindly into the adjoining corridor, which is inky dark, or you can swim for it through the water, or you could feed the hungry widdle guys some of your trick-or-treat candy. Yay! Are the not-very-festive piranhas friendly? You could try to reason with them for you and the other lady who went down this way. Or still you could go down the dark corridor, swim until you find another marine way out, or barter some candy. Think quickly, though! They look a mite peckish. Candy! *takes a bar and jewelry box**leaves* A different ghost from the one who greeted you in the corridor appears: She's wearing a jacket that reads "security." "You violated your contract!" she shrieks, hover-chasing after you into the night. "Read the terms of service on your wrapper, we'll see you in court!" Not to worry, it's a good thing you're good at escaping. She'll get over it.

Azzie tilts her head at the zombies. "No thanks. I'm afraid I'm the wrong one to ask." She skips on toward the yellow corridor. Age might mean books, after all.

GLQ frowned at the water, but her frown turned into a worried gasp as she saw the piranhas below. She bit her lip and looked at the corridors before reaching into her candy bag and tossing some candy towards the creatures. Perhaps it would sate their appetites enough and give her time to think about where she should go.

Scrabble, huh? The kid almost stops to ponder the decision here; he's got half a mind to help these zombies out with his knack for words, though he realizes that to be better than not having got half a mind as a result of helping them out. Miiight be best to avoid that little dispute, then. Two alternate forks: green, yellow... mold doesn't seem up his alley, he thinks with a frown-- better to stick with the faerie and go for the aged route.

The zombies watch in disappointment as you leave, wishing you'd been able to help them with Scrabble. ("See? I told you no one who came in this house would have any brains!" you hear one of them say.) Anyway, this corridor sure is old. Compared to where you came in, this place is egregiously badly kept. In fact--the walls are soggy and slightly unstable. With a good push, you might be able to push a hole through it and get to the other side. Maybe you could even make it back outside without the ghosts finding out! Without knocking down anything, however, around this path's curve, you hear a slithering and snapping sound. You smell something earthy and disconcertingly sweet--and it might be getting stronger. That must be some candy. The fish zoom around in hyper exuberance--and then they pass out in a sugar crash. Well, good. That takes some of the direness out of the situation. Now, then--corridors: watery or dark? As you're pacing softly in the water trying to come to a decision, you hear a ghostly cough. You don't see anyone, but suddenly some scuba equipment and a flashlight are hanging on the corridor wall. These lab ghosts are making you extremely nervous.

Firstly, Coaster undoes his costume enough to comfortably eat the fine-printed candy, because hey, it's a full-size candy bar and you hardly ever get one of those. Yummo. He recovers his composure and once again submits himself to Michelin-man-mobility.
Afterward, mostly blind in his mask anyways, Coaster heads to the right route towards the piranhas. After all, he should be SUPER EFFECTIVE and his costume's pretty thick with concealed sporting equipment anyways.
Of course, being mostly blind, he quickly slips upon reaching the water, as the massive critter foot has too high a surface area and too low a density to sink like a regular foot. He floats, momentarily stuck on his face, before bumping his head on the corner at the intersection with the inky passage. He grabs the threshold, drags himself--and the dry half of his critter foot--out of the water, and stumbles through the dark corridor.

Startled by the cough, she looks over to the the scuba gear and flashlight. After a moment of hesitation, she walks over and grabs enough scuba gear for herself. "I guess I'm taking the watery route," she says to herself as she puts on the gear. She assures that everything on her person is in place before she begins swimming towards the watery corridor. She takes a moment to see what's below the water--aside from piranhas--as she goes.

Upon seeing the ghost, Birdy activated her proton pack and aimed the nozzle at the ghost. But then, it vanished, just as she fired.
"...Hope they like skylights," she mutters. She starts to sheath the nozzle, then thinks better of it. After all, who knows what else is lurking in this place?
She considers heading right, but then remembers that cats and water don't exactly mix well. So she turns left, and heads towards the scrabbling sound.
