Today I realized the last pair of jeans I bought have actual real pockets!! Pretty big ones, too, like I can fit my whole phone there and not worry about it falling out! I didn't even realize when I tried them on, but I've been wearing them today for the first time, and omg, what a wonderful surprise! XD

Today was a sorta-birdwatching outing. The goal was to check out a rock that was supposed to have loads of migratory birds gathering around it, due to the north-northwest wind that was pushing them towards the sea and preventing them from moving towards Spain. It was a bit too windy today for birds and humans alike.
Still saw some nice trees, rocks and wetlands, kestrels, a few swarms of starlings, very neat rows of storks, egrets, very distant flamingos, a curlew, lapwings, and glossy ibises. =D
(And horses and black cows and a few doggos and a cat.)

There's a cute little Fall festival happening in town and it just happens to be on a day when both me and my Mom are off work! That basically never happens!

Today, I was finally able to check a huge task off of my to-do list, a task that's been causing me so much stress for months.
Thank goodness.

A few gloats: - I've started the process of writing an e-book which I plan to self-publish, as I mentioned in the Mini-Comments thread.
- I finally got around to registering a domain name for a website that I've been planning (the same one I mentioned here.). Hooray for me finally making progress.
- I get a chance to visit both my old house (which I miss so much) and my old church this weekend! I was looking forward for an opportunity to do so for so long.

"For this next step, you need to do [this complicated thing to find the value of this using some methods that will ensure much inaccuracy], but we need it so we can ultimately find this other thing."
Me: "...This other thing, you say?" *Finds better way to do it that bypasses me having to find the first value at all.* Advisor: "Oh, that works, good job!"
*Fist flex.* Nailed it!
I finally feel like I'm doing okay on this thesis project.

My contract has been extended. \o/ Fewer hours, but that means more time off to maybe focus on personal projects (still keen to do something with Sister Sun and Brother Moon) and better mental health prospects. Plus this is only temporary until I can get into a Masters programme. So it's all good.

Going to document this here for future reference - in the last week of October, I was stopped on my way home when A Wild Child Appeared! A gaggle of kids hanging out in front of their house sounded very desperate to get me to stop. One of them was crawling atop the low wall bordering the garden, hurrying towards a bougainvillea bush covered in flowers. She picked one and presented it to me. During this entire operation, the older children furthest from the gate had been whispering, saying things that sounded like warnings not to bother strangers. The kids watched anxiously while I tried to figure out which reaction I was expected to perform. Step one: I held out my hands, palm wide open, as one might do to feed a horse. The flower successfully landed. Step two: I gave a deep nod/shallow bow and said thanks. Children seemed sceptic. Wild Flower Giving Child asked whether I was going to throw it away. I really wasn't sure what to answer to that? Wild Flower Giving Child seemed to be under the impression that I was going to slam the flower down and stomp on it while laughing maniacally. Had... had that happened previously as they tried to stop other random passers-by for arbitrary flowers?? Step three: I said that it was very pretty, that I liked it, it was a pleasure to receive such a thing after working all day, and I would keep it as long as I could. Pressed flower bookmarks are a thing. Bit more small talk. And maybe I was going to go home now thankyougoodeveningbyebye. While leaving, I caught an awed whisper of "[they're] so niiiiice!" Are... are your standards for adults that low, Wild Flower Giving Child? They caught me again the next day, verified that I had not thrown out the first flower, gave me a second, and were equally awed that I, like, accepted it. (Later, I woke up in the middle of the night in a panic, believing I'd forgotten my umbrella on the bus, before remembering that no, Wild Flower Giving Child had asked me why I had my umbrella with me, meaning that I definitely had it after getting off the bus. One panic attack averted.) I am confused in a nice fuzzy way, Wild Flower Giving Child. May you continue to wildly give things and may you run into nice adults who appreciate them.

There's not a lot about my state that I'm proud of, but the two free years of college is something to brag about, especially when I see little old ladies happily going back to school.
