*rolls on board* I am procrastinating! Stop procrastinating and work! Chain yourself to your chair. Take out your wireless card and throw it where you can't reach it. Write!

What wireless card? *puts on tutu and run around board like a maniac* Okay, then just turn off your wireless and use restraint not to turn it on again. Have someone lock you out of the network until you reach your quota. Take your computer (if it is portable) out of range of the network. Lots of ways to get rid of that nasty internet. =D

But first I must finish up my series and edit it, then celebrate my finish with brownies while I send it to the NT.

I like the Internet. xD Often when I'm writing I have to research things and it's vastly easier to click into another window and do a five-minute information search than head down to the library. Especially when I have to know something like a list of names of Brightvale books, which is information I don't think most libraries have. And last night when I was writing, I needed to know what kind of doctorate degrees in engineering are offered at UC Berkeley (answer: a lot) and I sure wasn't going to drive six hours up to the Bay Area to find out. The Internet can be a powerful force for distraction, but it's also a great force for productivity.

The Internet can be a powerful force for distraction, but it's also a great force for productivity. Oh, me too. That, and my nearest library would take me several hours to walk to, if I didn't get hit by a car on the way there. But, when I'm finding myself easily distracted, it sometimes helps to get rid of the internet for awhile. I had to research softball, the way they pitch, the normal distance between homeplate and the pitcher's mound just last week, and I don't know if I would have found that at the library. The internet is as valuable a tool as it is a hindrance to writing.

I'm absolutely TERRIBLE with titling my work. At least I think so. That why I didn't bother to name any of the individual chapters in my NT series, as they would inevitably turn out to be really sucky. And which is why the main entries will from now on be along the lines of: Infinity Roman Numeral: Arc Word. But even so, I still find myself agonizing over what the titles of my stories will be, even if I'll end up hating them months down the road. DX Anywho, after a dry spell, I managed to pump out five pages of my next NT-series in progress. Funny how I can't do this sort of thing when in a good mood, but be great at it when I'm feeling miserable about myself. Still, I doubt I'm going to reach my goal of getting this one done before the current one ends. I have no idea how long it's going to turn out (Just finished Part Two) but I think finishing writing and proofreading it in five weeks is definitely not going to happen. XP

I like titling: the titles really help with making up a plot.

You're not alone. The vast majority of writers I've talked to seem to have the same problem coming up with titles. I know I do. It took me a good year to come up with the title of my series that is starting on Friday, and I still don't like it. It was just the best of what I could come up with. For the longest time it was just 'backstory, yay!' or something like that.

Blueysicle, titles are definitely hard to come up with. A good tip I learned from a friend is, if you still can't decide on a title after finishing something, go through the text and try to look for relevant words or phrases that would make good titles. I wrote about 400 words for an RP reply today, and I'm counting that (because it's the RP my friend and I are making into a book). That means I gotta hit at least 600 more words to reach my quota. I would have started earlier but I was on a Skype call with my co-author and a mutual friend of ours, and it was nice getting to talk to them. Going to try to knock out a little more of Ad Infinitum tonight.

*gets out the pompoms and cheers Surfersquid on*
Yeah, titles are pretty hard. They're like cookie recipes - every one you try just feels wrong, but it's super rewarding when you find the perfect one and binge yourself on all the cookies omnomnom <3
