{Partenen's Laboratory}
: I have finished the... robot you have requested.
: Heh, for a crazy cyborg ghost, you aren't half bad. *blasts robot with energy*
: What are you doing now?
: Oh, just some time energy so he can call his little friends across time for a playdate. And now... I think it's about time he woke up! *throws a switch*
: *groans to life*
{Antihero Alley, Icy Taco}
*The TARDIS materializes on a shady street filled with suspicious buildings, all quiet save for the pub in the center of them all.*
: *steps out of the TARDIS, scans with sonic screwdriver* ... *starts walking toward pub as somebody runs out of it and past him*
Bartender: *shouts after him* IF YOU WRITERS MAKE THIS JUKEBOX PLAY "NEVER GONNA GIVE YOU UP" ONE MORE TIME, I'M GETTING RID OF IT! *slams door*
: ...Early twenty-first century then. *steps into the pub and sits down at the bar*
Bartender: You're new around here, right? Let me get you something strong, because if you don't need it now you'll need it later.
: Actually, I was just wondering... this might sound crazy, but has anyone seen a metal man around here? Somebody who looks like a robot, all made of metal?
*the bar bursts out laughing*
: No, I know obviously not real robots... My friend and I got separated on the way to a costume party.
*the laughter slowly gets quieter, with a few people looking around nervously*
Bar Patron: Some of us might find that offensive, you know.
: What, you don't like costumes? *turns and sees that the speaker is a robot* ...Oh. I guess that song is more out of date than I thought it was.
Leave him alone, he's going to get enough grief from the Writers without mandatory culture shock.
: Who are the Writers, and for that matter, who are you?
: The Writers are the rulers of this town. As for me... Some people call me the doctor.
{Antihero Alley, Icy Taco}
: *walks out of pub, scanning with sonic screwdriver*
: Hey, don't just leave. This is my town and I think I should know what I'm dealing with. So what are we dealing with? Daleks? Cybermen? A confused Nestene Consciousness?
: *spins around* How do you know what those are?
: People tell your stories throughout the known universe. Some of them happen to talk about the villains.
: Cyber Ships from all over time and space followed a signal here, and I followed them. I couldn't find exactly where they landed, so I asked you.
: How far off are they?
: No more than two years, I'd think.
: Great, two years of hidden Cybermen. Alright, I'm with you. I know this town better than you do.
: So no matter how dangerous I tell you this is going to be, no matter how much I say I don't need help, you're coming with me?
: Yes.
: Fantastic! What's your real name, though? I can't just call you Doctor.
: Doctor James Lupe.
: Well James, lead the way!
{Just Outside Tabloid Town}
: So what's your story, James?
: Did some bad things for bad reasons, did some good things for good reasons. Just your average... sort of human.
: And what's the story with this town? The town leaders annoying a bar full of robots with 1980s pop music?
: This place is a crossroads between worlds. The Writers bring people here from many worlds in many time periods.
: What do you mean "bring them here"? Like kidnapping?
: No. Most people initially think that they're coming here of their own free will, and can usually go back to their own world whenever they want... but for some they wouldn't want to go back to where they left. Anyway, we're here, Doctor. *gestures to a clearing of trees*
: There's nothing here.
: A portal opens here to the laboratory of a man named Shaman Partenen. He's the only one insane enough to construct a Cyberman.
: *points sonic screwdriver at clearing, and a portal wavers into existence*
: As a wise man once said... Allons-y! *jumps through the portal*
: Who would say something stupid like that? *follows*
{Graveyard}
*they step out into a dark graveyard, surrounded by a seemingly endless junkyard*
: That's strange... it was the middle of the afternoon when we stepped in there.
: Yeah, blame Partenen. Now, let's go-
Hey, what's up Docs?
: Who's there!?
: You really don't want to know.
Hey, I'm just giving you a little warning. I let the crazy ghost keep his new robot as a security guard. And he's an effective one too!
: *looks around*
: *steps out of the tomb in the center of the graveyard* Delete. Delete. Delete.
: Got some good news and some bad news. Good news is we found it, bad news is-
: -we found it.
: *fires a bolt of lightning at The Doctor*
: *dives behind a tombstone* Not exactly the usual weapon.
: A personal touch from Partenen, I'd assume. *pulls a bottle of pills out* On my signal, head for the tomb. Partenen probably has a kill switch in the lab. *throws pills at the Cyberman, which explode into a smokescreen* Go! *dashes out*
: *follows after, into the tomb, sealing the door behind him with his sonic*
: And now we head down.
{Catacombs}
*they walk through narrow hallways with chains hanging from the walls*
: Is Shaman Partenen human? He may have been converted by his own creation.
: No. ...Not anymore. He is a cyborg, but he won't be a Cyberman.
Of course not... Why would I risk making something that could turn on me... AGAIN!?
*the chains spring to life and ensnare The Doctor and Doc*
: *materializes in front of them* Hello Doctors! It didn't even TAKE a degree to outsmart you two!
: Shaman! What are you planning to do with a Cyberman!?
: Not a Cyberman... An army of Cybermen! And think of the potential buyers, Doctor Lupe... Undead warriors who have nothing to fear from a Cyberman... Rinamians who could use a mercenary that could convert their greatest enemy into an ally!
: The Cybermen won't listen to a madman like you!
: No less than they'll listen to your... pleas for mercy!
: *transforms into wolf form to slip through the chains and transforms back when he hits the ground* *takes out another bottle of pills, throwing them at the wall near The Doctor blowing it up and breaking his chains* RUN!
*they dash through the wall into Partenen's lab*
: The kill switch!
: *uses sonic screwdriver to blow up the switch* Now go!
: *throws some bomb pills at the ceiling, blasting a hole through* *grabs a chain and swings it, using it as a grappling hook to climb out*
: *climbs out after, and kneels over the broken Cyberman* *detaches the head and takes it*
: ...What are you doing.
: With this, I can track the signal. You heard him, there's an army coming from everywhere and everywhen. And we're going to stop it. Now, back to the TARDIS!
{Antihero Alley}
After all these years, that old blue box...
*Doc and The Doctor reach the TARDIS to find Churchillbot waiting outside it*
: I was wondering if you'd ever show up to town, Doctor.
: No... Winston?
: For once, I have a new face and you have an old one.
: I don't understand... Not to be rude, but you do know you died in 1965?
: And I was put in this body after.
: But... dying isn't exactly a temporary thing for you.
: You've seen a man who can become a wolf, a spirit who can materialize and control chains, and a spirit trapped in a robotic body. This is not the town to question logic. Magic is real here, whether you like it or not.
: You dealt with Shaman Partenen!?
: He built a creature known as a Cyberman, and it called others from across the universe. ...Have we dealt with Cybermen before, Winston?
: Saying yes or no would be a spoiler, wouldn't it, Doctor? Anyway, you have to deal with the Cybermen here and now.
: Right. James, with me! But no weapons on board the TARDIS!
: ...Fine. Churchill, hold onto my stuff for me. *gives him his sword, multiple bottles of pills, a modified syringe, and his headband*
: Are you just made of weapons?
: Not anymore. Let's go.
*they walk into the TARDIS*
{TARDIS Control Deck}
: So when does the metal head say we need to go?
: *checking monitors* November of 2011. Anything fun happen here then?
: ...Depends on how you define fun.
: Fantastic, that is my kind of fun. Let's go! *throws switches and the TARDIS zooms off through space*
NEXT TIME
: A murder was just committed here. The man in charge of this repair shop was killed. The main suspect was one of his clients, Jokerman of Rinam. The case was under investigation by Prosecutor Byrne Faraday.
: Well what happened?
: ...I don't know. It's still classified, nobody is allowed to discuss major events until the Writers release the documents of it.
One and a Half Doctors will return with...
