From a journal entry January 23rd, 2009: "I'm not sure if I'll stay at this ntwf yet. I like the community around [other forum I was perusing at the time]. It looks nice though."
Ha ha, silly me.
Today marks the day of my NTWF anniversary. And goodness, I really can't express how much my life has improved because of my being here.
Before I joined the forum, I didn't have many friends. I was a very anxious person and rarely approached anyone. Because of a friend's suggestion, I threw myself face-first into the 'Bloids as soon as I joined and boom- there I was with a whole group of wonderful people I started to consider friends. Friends who immediately tried to eat me, of course, but later talked with me and joked around with me and were there for me when I was upset.
I always loved reading and writing before I joined. I just never considered myself very skilled, and was considering giving up on writing out of frustration. Writing alter-egos on the Bloids and later the Taco helped me considerably, and now writing is one of my favorite things to do. Working with all of you who wanted to write with me has improved my writing skills dramatically and has been a truckload of fun. :B
To be honest, I was rarely a very happy person either. But recently, I've had a group of close friends by my side- figuratively, since it's a forum- and support and activity. I believe I've grown less depressed by being with you all. I've said it before, but all you NTWFers are the closest friends I have. (Yeah, even you, scared newbie reading this. Get in the group hug.)
But I'm rambling on like it's all about me. I like to think that being around has made quite a few of you happy too. I've been through a lot here, and a lot of memories I doubt I'll forget have been created, so I should end this by saying thank you.
