June 18th 2012: in a small city called Viredred, 18 year old Raven Kiers was brutally attacked by three masked men. Hit upside the head with a two by four, Rav fell to the pavement, unconscious. Carried by ambulance from the mall to the city hospital, his parents were notified of his severe condition and he would likely die within minutes. A few seconds later after his parents received the call, he awoke. He rose from the stretcher as the ambulance was screaming its way to the hospital. He was healed! No trauma, no wound, no sign he was ever hit. An absolute miracle, and a major cause for celebration.
But something was different, something had changed. What could have happened within those few precious seconds that could have altered everything? It was if time had stopped and he had experienced many years of life, and no memory of it. Something strange was at work here, and this was only the beginning.
Soon his life began to shatter before him: His family turns on one another, natural disasters strike, the economy plummets. And now, after a face to face visit with a demon, he has more reason than ever to figure out what is going on in his life and how he can stop it.

So, Nano Attempt #...5? I lost count. I never make it very far. But regardless of whether I make 5 words or 50,000, I think it's worth attempting. Thinking of a plot, of characters, it's exciting.
My inspiration from this came from Tamia's note in her Nano, saying how she's drawing from her personal life. So I thought "hey! my life sucks. There's a lot to write about in a novel" so, I suppose initially it did come from my own personal stuff -- it will be a dark novel (if you can't guess from the main character being named Raven) and my life is fairly dark at the moment -- but it morphed, twisted and formed into something I never really quite expected.
Which is my favorite part about writing: you can plan and plan and plan but when you start writing it makes a mind of it's own and all the sudden you have a front row seat to this adventure where even you don't even know what's going to happen! =D (...though I do know the ending. That's kinda crucial.)
Here's to hoping that this story might be somewhat successful this year =D
