My sister has nagged me enough to give it a try. She seems to think I can keep myself motivated or something... We'll nag you to keep going then. ; P So, how is everyone doing so far. My progress: Day 2, Chapter Five (only a sentence in) and 8,060 words. I'm surprised at my relatively good progress given that my life really is going to heck around me in the last two days. (Really giving that hermit thing consideration. Anyone know any good caves that have working electricity?)

We'll nag you to keep going then. ; P That's why I'm here. I'm a day behind, but I should be caught up by tomorrow. I'm using a story idea that I've started and restarted several times. This time, I think I've found a beginning I'm happy with.

Almost... to... daily recommended wordcount... @_@
Also, my mom just reminded me about daylight savings. Does anyone know if the NaNo site adjusts for that automatically now? I know it didn't used to, but I have trouble telling to begin with. XD;

@pfa: No clue, sorry. Maybe you should ask on the NaNo boards?
So, today was actually really good, even though I didn't get to it until 7 p.m. I'm at 10,541 words and Chapter 6.
Random: My older brother and mother insist that 'Changeful' is not a real word, despite the fact that the dictionary lists it as one. Mostly because they seem to think it is a dumb word and Shakespeare first used it. But, it just made me curious, who is the weird one(s) here, me for using it, or they for denying it? Do you guys consider changeful to be a real word?

First time I've ever seen it, but it is in the dictionary, so. The question of whether something is a "real word" is usually a misguided one--that line is way blurrier than a lot of people seem to think. (Even pure errors, like "irregardless", end up as accepted terms if they're used enough.) Since it's apparently pretty rare, I'd be more worried whether it would be distracting to a reader, and if a more quickly recognizable term might be a better pick.

In the past, I have been successful at passing off fake words as real ones. I would think it should be even easier to pass of a real one as a real one.
And I am given to understand that Shakespeare also coined "swagger," "gossip," and "gnarled."

I would like to ask a question: are we allowed to submit neopets stories for NaNo?

Yep, Neopets stories fall under the fanfiction classification which is perfectly acceptable for Nano.

I would like to ask a question: are we allowed to submit neopets stories for NaNo? Yeah, what Jakie said, fanfiction. PFA is doing a Neopets Story for NaNo, right? Shakespeare came up with awesome words. I've never actually used changeful in a story, I just tend to use it in talking, mostly about my sisters, because it describes them very well. XD

So it looks like I'll be working 6 days a week for the entire month of November. That'll be fun.
Still made par each day so far. I'd like to have an actual backlog, though.

PFA is doing a Neopets Story for NaNo, right? Yep. A story I plan to submit to the NT when it's done, even. :3 I also just realized that there's actually a fanfiction subboard on the NaNo forums, so it's perfectly fine.

Suffering apparently makes for a great motivator, something.
I have reached 25,000 words. Halfway to 50k!
That still only puts me about a third of the way into my plot, though. But that is okay, because I want to do the 50k in November so I 'win' NaNo, and hopefully finish the entire story by oh, say, the time the Hobbit comes out? I might finish this month, but I'm allowing for some slacking time later, as I could be getting stuff that would cause me to slack.
So, how is the writing coming for everyone else. Are you meeting your daily word goals?

My work has been going surprisingly well numbers-wise, though the story is still in the process of working itself out in regards to plot. >> Granted that's why I'm doing this in the first place, so that I can pound out the story and figure out what points I really need to go over to make the story work.
Hoping to break 25k by Friday, but we'll see how that goes.
