I've got an idea for a comic for the Christmas issue of the Neopian Times, but before I begin working on it I would like to make sure that it won't get rejected for something.
Basically, it's going to need an annoying Christmas song, and the most annoying one I can thing of is 'I want a Hippopotamus for Christmas.' Is it going to be an issue to parody it as 'I want a Christmas Patamoose for Christmas' for my comic, or should I try and get creative and come up with my own annoying Christmas song?
For my comic, I need a Christmas song that will be obviously annoying. Advice, please?

I think going with altering a classic to make it Neopia themed is probably better because then people will know what it is your singing basically and go 'Oh, yeah, so annoying, lol.' But, I can't think of any Christmas song I find annoying that would not be considered inappropriate, like Santa Baby or I saw Mama Kissing Santa Claus. However, if you're worried about TNT not liking you altering an existing song, www.neopets.com/ntimes/index.phtml?section=509414&week=484 this comic got in, so I think it is probable that you should have no troubles.

I've also seen comics that parody certain popular songs ("Hey, I just met you..."), so it should be fine as long as you, firstly, do not use copyrighted material without changing the words first *cough*, and secondly, if the reference is clear enough for NT readers in general to understand the joke.
If you present the song as incredibly annoying without people needing to hear the real one to understand, I don't see a problem with the latter.
