(Continued) - Strife is going to review this one, so there might be changes later ^^
SaturdayArriving at Newark was somewhat confusing. Not only was it late at night, but getting through security was a pain! The line was SO long! I figured I could take advantage of that, and call Strife to let him know where I was.
I looked at my cell phone. Looked at the time. Brought up Strife’s number. Man, I felt so bad. I was definitely not going to call his home phone. No need to wake up the whole house >.<
My hand was shaking as the phone dialed up the number, and I put it to my ear. Then I suddenly thought about, that I was going to speak English in public, and people around me would hear what I said. Urgh! Oh well. No point in hanging up now!
It rang a few times, and I felt like hanging up, but then it got picked up. I always get surprised how Americans just say “Hello” when they pick up. Here in Denmark, people usually say who they are. Like, I always say: “It’s Marianne” (in Danish of course), when picking up the phone.
But it was picked up with a “Hello?” and I answered back with a “Hello”. I thought I had Strife on the other end, so I started talking about where I was, and stuff like that. Then the person said: “You wanna talk to Strife?” and I was like
. Yeah, his dad… he calls him Strife in real life ^_^
Poor Strife had been asleep, just as I ‘feared’, but he didn’t mind being waked up. Though, I still felt bad. I told him about the situation, and we agreed that I would call him back once I knew when the plane to Rochester would leave.
We hung up, and I continued standing in this long, long line, in this giant hall. I reviewed this Visa Waiver Program application that I had had to fill out to get permission to enter USA, just to make sure that everything was in its place. A guy behind me, had to fill out his form three times during his ‘stay’ in the line, because he kept messing it up xP
Finally I got my turn. I showed my passport and the form. Then he asked me to place my index finger on a thingy, so that he could take my fingerprint
; He also took my picture -_-;
Onward I went. Looking for a Virgin Atlantic counter, so that I could get some info about the plane I missed, because of the lateness of the first plane.
I found them, and they told me that the next plane would leave around 7 am the next morning. I looked at the clock. Then I looked around at the mindlessly boring airport, where some people were sleeping on the floor, and I was already picturing me sleeping like that, and I went >.<
Then I asked her, if she had any suggestions for me, because sleeping on the floor of the airport wasn’t exactly my kind of comfort.
She then pulled out a note, and told me that I had gotten a room at a hotel. I should just go there now, and get some sleep.
Okay, great. Were you going to tell me that if I hadn’t asked for any options? And are you going to give me any directions?
I didn’t say that out loud xD
I told her that I hadn’t been here before, so I would really like some directions. She talked so fast; I had to make her repeat it for me.
She told me to go to the air train, and get off at C4, then call a hotel shuttle, and I’d get there. Okay then. I set off for the air train.
I couldn’t work out how the elevator went up >.< , so I took the stairs. It was kindof like a subway train, only a lot smaller. But I got to C4 without problems.
I called Strife again, to let him know when I would arrive in Rochester, and that I would let him get his sleep now ^^;
Outside at last! The air was very warm, considering it was in the middle of the night. I called the shuttle bus, and arrived at the hotel.
Big confusion inside.
I arrived with four American guys, who had also been rebooked because of the delayed flight.
The hotel clerk told us, that none of us were on the list, and luckily for me, the guys started arguing with the clerk. Finally, we got a room, and I ‘flew’ all the way up there.
The room was amazing! Just as I imagined a ‘typical’ American hotel room would be.
But take a look at this video, and decide for yourself ^^I decided to take a shower, since all the commotion had made me all fuzzy, and I felt like I had foul stench. So I hit the showers, realized that I had forgot to bring towels, and then I got all hyper. I decided not to go to bed, because there would only be three ours or so, before I had to leave again for check-in at the airport. So I pulled an all-nighter.
After three hours of relaxing, I went downstairs to catch the shuttle bus back to the airport. Then the air train, and then I went for check-in.
More confusion!
The computers had broken down (of course!), so we had to check in manually. This lady was shouting orders to us all (yes, another loooooooong line of waiting people), and I was yet again nervous about how I got to get through this.
I had to either use my credit card or passport to identify myself via the machine. I chose my passport. Then it said that my flight wasn’t ready for check-in! What the hell? I looked back at the line, and thought to myself, that I would pass out if I had to wait that long again. So I got the lady’s attention, and she helped me check in. Phew!
I left my baggage in the care of the personnel, and went upstairs for more security. It wasn’t open yet though, so I sat on the floor and waited, and waited.
Finally it opened, and I was the first in line. Yay!
I had this shirt on, with shiny letters that spelled out ‘Princess’ over my chest. After taking off my shoes, putting my laptop and stuff on the convoy belt for the scanning, the security guy approached me, and started being funny:
“Well hello there, your highness!”
I caught his drift, and smirked at him.
“Since you’re the first in line, your highness, you’re going to get the royal treatment” he said with a grin.
“Oh, does that include a full massage?” I asked.
“You bet!” he answered, “and after that, my colleague will take good care of you”.
I had to strain myself from not cracking up – all the innuendos xD
Then he frisked me, and let me pass.
His colleague asked me to take out all my electronic stuff. So I did, and he started wiping them all with a small piece of cloth.
I asked him what it was for, and he told me it was to detect explosives (Thundy – you would never be able to pass this one xDD ). I was ‘clean’, so I went off to the gate.
Everything was closed, so I couldn’t buy anything. I just sat myself down at the gate area, and got me some shut-eye.
In only a few hours, I would get to meet Strife at last. I was tingling all over x3
