Yep, it's another thread about favorite Neopets characters. Everyone has a few, right? Also, you can discuss your interpretations, as well. I have... Well, more than a few. so let's start with the big one. Lord Kass. Although he was only the third Neopets plot villain who was completely unrelated to Dr. Sloth (the others being Tura-Kepek and Malkus Vile - I hardly consider Darigan a villain), Kass pretty much had a bit more depth to him than other villains. Sure, he's just as monstrous as other villains, but he's almost pitable in his deal with the Three. As evil as he is, you almost feel sorry for him... Well, until he tries to kill Jeran. In my stories, I write him a fair bit younger than Neo intended - he's in his late 20's, and is a cunning mastermind who would be diagnosed as suffering from Antisocial Personality Disorder (or in older terms, he's a sociopath and/or a psychopath) if Neopia had anything remotely resembling modern mental care. He's always reminded me a bit of Scar, too. Sophie's also a big time favorite of mine. She's the classic "witch who isn't so wicked," and is definitely one of the best-written characters in one of the better written plots. She's a loveable Grumpy Bear, despite probably not being much older than twenty-seven, and goes through some pretty strong character development for a plot character. I kind of imagine she sounds like Idina Menzel thanks to a certain musical about a green skinned "wicked" witch... Lord Darigan. Good old Lord Darigan. Pretty much the first anti-villain in Neopets history, he was also the first real heavy hitter of a villain unrelated to Sloth. Like Sloth, he had an army of loyal minions, but he was a distinctly magical villain who resembled a lich. Beneath his decrepit and evil exterior, however, lies a leader who would gladly put the needs of his people before anything else... Until the Orb corrupted his mind. To this day, I consider him the true Big Good of the two Meridell plots, far more than that greedy oaf Skarl. While The Return of Dr. Sloth was an all-around disappointment due to its short length and obnoxious hero (Ugh, Cylara), Ylana Skyfire pretty much got most of the cool moments of the plot. I wish her rivalry with Scout was explored a bit more, since she fills the role of "evil bounty hunter" that every sci-fi setting needs. Xandra is an interesting character - not only was she the villain of the best plot in recent memory (perhaps, even, the best plot in Neopets' 13-year history), but she's a character who can be interpreted in many different ways. Is she a megalomaniacal and self-righteous Complete Monster, or a severely deluded Well-Intenioned Extremist who truly believes what she's doing was right? I take the latter option, with a dose of being genuinely crazy thanks to childhood trauma inflicted by a monstrously evil Faerie Supremacist - partly inspired by my friend Sae's take on the character, but a bit more mentally unstable - for all her bluster and power, she's still a scared little girl on the inside lashing out at the Fair Folk who took her parents away from her and did nothing to right that wrong. I don't even care that much for the Altador Cup anymore, but this little weirdo always puts a grin on my face. He's one of the downright funniest characters on the site. Speaking of funny little side characters with anger management issues, there's this guy. He's been in any plot that's been remotely good since the Lost Desert plot - well, except for the Tale of Woe, which was good even without him. The plots without him (Return of Dr. Sloth, Journey to the Lost Isle, and Atlas of the Ancients That one isn't even canon anymore) were lacking in many ways, and his return in The Faerie's Ruin was just the icing on the cake. I like to call him "Bob." I don't really care for the Faeries, to be honest... Well, except for the Space Faerie. She has a good design, is a cool character, and generally blends fantasy and sci-fi very well in her character design. Unlike most characters hailing from Kreludor or the Space Station, she genuinely fits in with the fantasy trappings of Neopia's ground-based lands, and she's just awesome, to boot. Those are about all the characters I can think about that I really, really like from Neo.

Thorn's turn! Thorn has a few, hurhur... Eliv Thade. Seriously. He looks epic, and...have you ever read "The Last Page"? That only increased my love of the character (which has died down since then, by the way). Also, his castle is awesome, even if I've never actually managed to finish the game. And what puzzle exactly did drive him insane? I prefer to interpret Thade as tortured to the point of insanity by his obsessions, cliched though that idea is. It still seems great to me. THIS is how I see Vira: beautiful, but darkly so. Not ugly, as some writers choose to say! Although, I suppose she would think she is; seeing as she's used to a more traditional beauty. I've written about Vira twice ("Vira's Dagger" and "Storm of Fortunes"), and used a different interpretation each time. But I do believe that she is bitter, vain (which is a given), and pretty badass. If asked, I would probably say that Vira is my favourite Neo character of all time. Or, at least, the one that has consistently remained in my top three. <3 How can you not love Kep? Granted, I'm biased; as I support DC every year for the AC. But...she and all of that team have inspired me to write several stories, even if only one actually made it to publication. I like to think of her as being just a little jealous of Layton and Tandrak's popularity. Oh, and being good friends with Reshar. Because that just came up when I was writing, and now it's canon as far as I'm concerned. xP That old favourite: Kass. What can I say? The flaws make the character, and he is indeed flawed. I only read "Let Darkness Fall" because he was in it, but I remember that I loved the story. And....yeah. She the above image. He is both tragic and pitiable, and I seem to have a weakness for weak/tragic characters. xD And evil characters. ...basically everything he is. (also, I have an old trading card of him. xD) There hasn't been enough written about this woman! I tried, but failed miserably. But she's a bounty hunting blue acara. What's not to love? And look at that sly little smile. She's up to something... I'M ON TO YOU, SKYFIRE!!! Anyway, yeah. She's purty cool. And a bounty hunter. Which is probably why she's on this list. =P EDIT: I can't believe I forgot this guy! Nightsteed. <3

As I like to say, I have a soft spot for the traumatized and bipolar - in resume, megalomaniacs. XD Lord Kass has a spot in my heart! It's amazing how he can be so naive and so cruel at the same time! As you guys described, he is pitable. Oh man, and when he fights Jeran! XD It's so awesome, I don't even know what side to pick! Jeran has a rough past too, coming from another dimension and being separate from his sister! He is brave and loyal - even if Skarl does not deserve such a champion! I just love how the Ghost Lupe is tragic and deep, even though he doesn't has much of a story to tell. But that's exactly why he's fun to daydream about...the possibilities for his personality and past self are endless! Ah, the wocky gypsy! She's adorable and mischievious and full of joy, even though her world is constantly haunted by bad luck! Gotta admire her optimism. oh man, WE REALLY need a plot. D:

Okay, let's start... Space Faerie was always my favorite neopian character ever. I always imagine her as a very mysterious faerie, that keeps to herself a lot of secrets about the galaxy that could be easily turn into a plot. I don't like planets too much, but I still think the way people don't know much about them helps me to think that she is as mysterious as them. ...*sigh*, I don't know how to explain, it's just like a newbie love. I always liked her, even though I don't know the properly reason. Gosh! I just love witches. They are soooo powerful and etc. ;_; they can control things... they DO things anyone can do.. I just love to think about this. Can't say too much, but I love her ~ again, don't know why. I think I just like her because she can do magic, just like Edna. Also, being an addicted NQ player, it helps to love her. xD Well, who doesn't love her? She is pretty and powerful at the same time o.o Again, my passion about magic helps me to like her more. Sorry if I didn't say too much, but why I like these characters is really unknown, even to me. xD EDIT: OH GOSHH. How could I forget him??? One word: awesome. Again, my NQ obsession is taking over of me, but what can I do? He is just the perfect villain I could ever think on (I don't think on Edna as bad, though). Favorite villain ever. He pwns everyone.

So.. Definitely my favorite Neo character is Jhudora. I think it has to do with the fact that I wrote about her in my very first NT series seven years ago (Goodness ). I think I see her slightly differently than I do most other people. To me, she isn't evil, but she isn't exactly nice either. She just really likes solitude, and is a bit lazy. She has power, she knows it, and she'd rather have other people do things for her, so she can spend her time relaxing. She's sarcastic, annoyed, and angry most of the time, but I don't think she's truly evil. She's just powerful and a fun character to me. I just reaaally like the character design of the Pirate Bomber, so much so that I put her in a series. I just think she looks so cool. Sooo... yeah. That's really it. I feel like I should look into more Neo characters because a lot of them are really interesting. It's just that I'm heavily a fan of Jhudora.

Love love love the Dark Faerie Sisters <3 The fight in the Darkest Faerie videogame is probably my favorite boss battle in the game. Malice is my favorite of the three. They're just so cool and I wish they'd be on the site more. Ilere's so under-developed, and man there's an incredible amount of potential for her. I loved her in the Tale of Woe and I really hope to see her again on the site. So dark and mysterious, I love it. =D

Two of my favorite Kyriis in one picture! JACQUES I like him more than Garin. The Pirate Avenger She's an awesome pirate and a Kyrii and I'd like to see her again. I hope to get her avatar soon. Caylis! She doesn't mean to curse you when you upset her. Anybody wonder if Maraqua being attacked a second time was punishment for banishing Caylis? Why else is "Curse" in the plot name? And being replaced by Scarblade was Captain Dread's punishment for destroying Maraqua in the first place.Ylana Skyfire is someone I hope to see again and again. Pirate Bomber! BOMBS Jazan is pretty awesome too. Captain Dread destroyed Maraqua the first time. I'm guessing Scarblade was a member of his crew who eventually succeeded him. Pirates would normally vote for their captains, but with Scarblade you can't be sure... Also when he was around TNT was of the stance that some cursing was okay. He is, to my knowledge, the only official Neo character that cursed. HEY LOOK A VILLAiN WHO ACTUALLY ACCOMPLISHED SOMETHING. You get to join the special uber villains club.

Oh hey, this thread! I think I love Lambert because he seems like such a walking contradiction. To start with, he's a big over-educated dork but he's painted baby. (Or possibly royal girl? Either way, look at the muzzle. That ain't Pink.) He's a fairly standard "dandy scholar" archetype, but compared to the usual, he is weirdly stout--like he could lay a helluva beatdown, and he does in fact go fight in the battledome over the course of the Obelisk event, facing off against the likes of Kanrik or the brute squad. And here he's running this guild dedicated to sharing knowledge and open thought, but his first reaction to the Obelisk is "Well! This looks promising. Everyone, grab a blunt object and follow me in an orderly fashion. Come along, Katie!" Hannah is Hannah, what more is there to be said? She just up and decides she's tired of serving grog, but treasure hunting seems like a better idea, and off she goes. Plus she's adorable. She is an adorable little teensy ragamuffin. (As a side note, it seemed to me like somewhere around the early-to-mid 2000's neopets had a serious design crash, especially when it came to female characters--all Roberta's colors clash, Fyora looked plain scary for a while there, etc--but Hannah narrowly avoided it.) I can't actually think of a single other dark faerie who is (1) explicitly not a villain and (2) has her own life and things to attend to, in this case a hyperactive yet fairly impressive crafting obsession. Anyways, we've got a high-energy dark faerie getting incredibly excited over glitter and zippers. I dig it.

Oh, this looks fun. Forgive me, I'm going to wax a wee bit sentimental here. Okay, so King Altador. On face value you might question why he's one of my favorite characters, seeing as he is your typical wise king archetype. Well first of all he is one of the few instances in Neopets canon of Royals Who Actually Do Something. Think about it, we have Skarl, who is documented as a lazy oaf that sits on his throne and during the second Meridell plot was too busy lusting over the Court Dancer to do much if anything (my own reinterpretation of him in my Neopian Times stories notwithstanding- I'm going on official site canon here.) We have Hagan, who is... wise? I guess? His biggest role in person to date is in The Darkest Faerie, where the most he does is tell Tor and Roberta "Yup, you go deal with that evil faerie, 'kay?" which they were going to do anyway. The bori king guy tells the heroes of Hannah and the Ice Caves that they have to repair the heart of the mountain, but doesn't actually do anything noteworthy. Probably the only other exception to this rule is Prince Jazan, who goes to tremendous lengths to save the people of Qasala, goes to Sahkmet on his own to fight Razul, and oh, yeah, stars alongside Altador in The Faerie's Ruin. Hagan sends a single knight to look into things, Skarl as far as we can tell was eating a leg of lamb or something while faerieland was sinking, Amira was probably batting off another unwanted suitor, and I guess Princess Lunara was probably rock climbing with Terrana whilst their dad called a citywide search again, IDK. But while Altador does bring some knights with him (a perfectly justified and intelligent precaution, really), he and Jazan both go to investigate the stoning of the faeries themselves. Okay, you might say, so why is your favorite Altador and not Jazan? Well, for all that Jazan gets more screen time and personal character development, I think Altador is a much more complex character. Bear with me- Altador is best known for his role as the ruler of his namesake kingdom, and the fellow who found a seemingly inane group of people (a farmer, a tax collector, a dancer, and a shepherdess to name a few) and decided "these guys are what I need to run this kingdom. And lo, he was absolutely correct! With but one teensy exception, that exception being of course the ever infamous Darkest Faerie. Site canon is a liiiiittle inconsistent as to the circumstances surrounding TDF's treachery- did she decide to betray the founders because of some perceived slight, or was she planning to usurp them all along? It's not entirely clear, the book of ages and the books you can read in the Altadorian Library in the PS2 game suggests the former, whilst exposition dumping at the end of the Altador mini-plot explicitly states the later to be the case. Regardless, one thing that is abundantly clear is that the other founders suspected nothing until the moment of their downfall. Altador in particular regarded TDF as one of his closest friends, and openly admits that her betrayal was extremely painful. But more than that, he also seems to, on some level, still acknowledge her as a friend. He misses what they once had, and wishes things could be that way again. It would've been way too easy to play this in such a way that the founders hated TDF for her betrayal, and yet they don't. They will go to whatever lengths they must to stop her, but at the end of the day they will never forget she was once their equal, their comrade, their friend. In short, the reason I love King Altador boils down to this.

My favorite character is Tomos (out of pity). Your thumbnail says otherwise. Your favorite characters are definitely not Jeran, Lisha, Court Dancer, or Kass. Mine are Jazan, Nabile, Kanrik, and Brynnso. ^.^ They're the Dream Team, and by Dream Team, I mean "Most Likely to Murder One Another if Locked in a Closet Together for Too Long."

No, I don't think so. All of them are calm characters who would probably prefer to talk their way out of things than fight. The only ones who I could see fighting would be Jazan and Kanrik but more due to their moral views than being annoyed from one another. If anything this is the "most likely to plot against Hanso" team (not murder, Brynn wouldn't stand for that, but I think she'd be okay giving Hanso any comeuppance he's been dodging).

Pretty sure it was hyperbolic? xD But I can totally see that character set going to blows at the very least. Let's see, Brynn's going to get in a few good shots, Jazan probably started it, and out of Hanso and Nabile, well, you know ONE of them got away with all the pocket change about five minutes ago, it's just a matter of who.

It was, in fact, a hyperbole. XD Perhaps "Break Out into a Fight" would have been a better word choice, but yes, breakingchains worded it exactly how I'd see it go down. Jazan and Hanso can't get along, and Jazan has moral issues with Kanrik. Brynn would also get suuuuper fed up with Hanso's antics, and Nabile doesn't really have beef with anyway, but she's gotta keep her husband in check. LOL! Doesn't spell out for a great afternoon tea, if you ask me.
