Thank you. :D It can be expensive if you're trying to buy the vintage, foreign or rarer versions. The rare vintage Tamagotchi Devilgotchi can sell for anywhere between $150-$250. o_o; It's generally pretty inexpensive to collect common virtual pets, though. Sadly, due to scalpers and their artificial price inflation scam that's been going steady for a few years, it's almost impossible to get Digimon Tamagotchis for a fair price anywhere online. :( It's a real shame, because they are my absolute favourite. The ones in my collection are succumbing to their age and wear. I can't even play with them anymore. :'{ -- Most of my collection was pieced together by thrift store finds. A lot of those Tamagotchi Connections only cost me around $3 or less thanks to thrift stores. :D My Grandma tries to find them for me at thrift stores and yard sales, aswell, which contributes greatly to my collection. <3 The rest are either retail purchases or gifts. -- All of my virtual pets are in working order. :D Some are in mintier condition than others, but that's expected with vintage items, and items bought second-hand. ^^ I have removed the batteries from every one, except for the red one in the middle of the line of six that are not in the container. ('cause I'm currently playing with it X3)The reason they don't have batteries in them unless I'm using them is because leaving batteries inside electronic devices can be damaging. The batteries can leak and corrode. I've actually had to throw one virtual pet out due to that. The previous owner had left batteries inside, and the corrosion totally destroyed the device. :{ [/gigantic reply] Oh gosh, thank you for that incredibly thorough reply! I don't even mind that it's a wall of text. :P It must be great to save so much money buying them second hand. I've browsed thrift and charity shops, but I've never seen Tamagotchi toys. It's probably one of those things that people either end up throwing away or just keep them lying under the bed or at the back of the closet. Would you turn down rarer Tamagotchis that are unplayable due to battery corrosion? This is bringing back my childhood. I had one of those, only I got tired of it after 4 days of playing because they were so demanding and noisy. Sort of like Habitarium, you like it for a bit then the constant high maintenance wears away enjoyability. And I didn't know you could still buy these things for retail! I haven't seen them in shops for years, and I thought it was just one of those fads that fades away. Haha, when I was a kid I had so many plushies that my dad turned one wall of my room into shelves. XD So they sit there, mostly. I haven't moved any to my new apartment, so I admit I don't know how I'd fit them all in here. Would probably have to buy a bookshelf just for them. And actually, a few of them I only bought to sell, like my mini collection of all the electric-colored ones, or some extra Halloween ones. I just haven't gotten around to doing so. ._. Oh, I do have a photo of my room: chaoskomori.deviantart.com/art/Komori-s-Room-102894708Except that that photo is a few years old now, so I've added to my collections since then. And wow, those are really nice postcards! I especially like the vintage ones. Do you just keep them in a pile, or do they make, like, post card binders like they do for trading cards? I had whole tubs of plushies when I was a kid. But I ended up selling most of them in a garage sale/giving them away/throwing them out after I turned 12. I only kept the ones I really liked, and even then I never play with them anymore. Makes me a little sad, especially after watching the Toy Story movies. Neopets plushies mixed in with Beanie Babies and Beanie Kids, the Australian beanie toy which was a fad 10 years ago. Seeing them in toy shops gives me nostalgia. Holy guacamole, you have a bajillion plushies. I also keep mine on a bookshelf, and the sad thing about them is that they pretty much soak up dust so I whenever I remember to clean, there are dust bunnies everywhere, and I have to get a vacuum cleaner to clean the dust off the toys' heads. Do you have to explain to your friends that you play Neopets and that it's not just a kids' game when you invite them over? One of the reasons why I keep most of toys in tubs in the garage these days is to avoid awkward questions about this. :-X It's like the time I forgot to hide my Neopets toolbar when a friend came over. - I keep my postcards in those organisational sorting boxes (they're pretty much glorified shoeboxes) that you can get at office supplies shops. Most people keep them in boxes, and only the hardcore ones store them individually wrapped in plastic. It used to be that people would paste their cards into albums when they came back from holidays, which is why you find so many vintage cards with glue and bits of paper on the back where they were torn out of old books. Good thing that the glue can be dissolved with a bit of warm water and patience. They're organised by type, like advertisement/freebies, tourist, or collectibles. Is it against the rules to exchange addresses through pm and trade cards? Might as well ask since I've gotten cards from a few other forums.

It's totally not against the rules. We've mailed all sorts of stuff around. I've got a Hirschprung's Disease postcard from the College of Physicians of Philadelphia if you want it!

I just wanted to ask because I know Neopets is extremely family friendly and you're not supposed to tell anyone your personal/contact info on kiddie sites. I would love a card like that! Would you like to trade? I've got Doctor Who cards (they're all Matt Smith era ones, so I can get you Amy, River, Rory, the Tardis, or the monsters from his series such as Daleks, Cybermen, Weeping Angels, the Silence, etc.), Sydney and NSW local cards (maps, flags, multiviews, local buildings, animals, aboriginals, or art), or some vintage European postcards that are 30-70 years old. I've got Switzerland, Germany (East and West), France, Spain, Italy, Austria, and Britain (Wales or England). Most of them are black-and-white and of buildings or statues.

I'm not a collector of postcards myself, so I don't need anything in return. I just have some to send because I think they're fun. XD Send me a PM and we'll hash this out.

Nah, I'm an unabashed geek. XD High school everyone knew me as the girl with the Pokemon shirts, and in college I covered my dorm with my Neo stuff. Heck, I even have a couple of Neopets on my desk at work now. (But then, it's an animation studio, so everyone has toys on their desks. XD) I usually still have to explain what Neopets are, because I haven't found many people who also play, but I like explaining it. :3

I haven't seen them in shops for years, and I thought it was just one of those fads that fades away. Yeah, it's great when I can find 'em cheap second hand. You've never seen any in thrift stores? Huh, maybe they weren't as popular in your area... or maybe they were too popular in mine. XD Yeah, I think a lot of people had them as kids and either broke 'em, or lost 'em. XD Hm... Interesting question. I'd definitely turn it down if someone were trying to sell it to me at the "normal" price range for whichever one it is. I wouldn't pay top dollar for a virtual pet that isn't even in playable condition. If it were being offered for free, I'd take it and try to fix it. If I can't, it'd just be eye-candy for my collection. Now I'm curious as to which v-pet you had. XD Was it a Tamagotchi, or a different brand of virtual pet? Some were definitely more fun than others. Giga Pets were impossible to take care of due to terrible instructions, for example. Some pets were particularily annoying with beeping. Some no-name / bootleg electronic pet games were especially bad. One of the things that Tamagotchis had over other brands was that you could turn the sound off. XD Most pets did require a fair bit of attention, which I can understand being too much distraction/work for some people. There were some which are easy to keep going. Digimon were very un-demanding and relatively easy to take care of, and Tamagotchi Angels were extremely easy to take care of with overall low-maintenance required. The current Tamagotchi is the TamaGo. To be honest, I really disliked the direction Bandai took with it. It's quite... un-virtual-pet-like. XD Very large and clunky, no keychain. Plus you have to buy little $10 figures if you want to unlock extra content. Yuck. I think Littlest Pet Shop still has their line of virtual pets, too. I wasn't thrilled with them. I got one second hand, and it was one of the most boring virtual pets I've ever had. XD Maybe it's nostalgia goggles talking, but I much prefer the vintage v-pets over the newer v-pets. [/even longer wall of text reply]

I collect dragon figurines/toys/etcetera etcetera. I just did a quick count, I have about twenty-two, if you don't count things like jewelry, a pen, a wand with a dragon topper and a broken Christmas ornament =P It's not a huge collection yet, but one day... >=D

I used to collect these pig ornaments called Piggins. They were pretty cool. They were like anthropomorphized pigs, and they were pretty cute. There's like, one dressed as Elvis, one as a bartender, stuff like that. But I haven't bought any in a really long time, so I don't think I could say that I still collect them. But they still decorate my room.
I collect pretty much anything to do with The Nightmare Before Christmas. Toys, figures, oranments, books, pens, clothes, posters; all of that kind of stuff. :3
I'm currently making my way through collecting all of the official classic Disney movie collection. 35/51 is my count at the moment. =D
I guess you could also say I collect cushions. Most of them are disney ones, but overall I have 9 of them sitting on my bed. XD
Aaaaand finally, I do have a tonne of plushies, so I guess I collect them too. XD; Disney plushies, beanie babies, Square Enix anime plushies. I'm a huge sucker for cuddly toys! XD
