So most of these threads are about various entertainments, so let's have a thread about hobbies! Tell me about what you collect, and post some photos if you have any. My hobby is collecting postcards and stamps and pretty much all philatellically wonderful things you can send by mail. Here are some pictures, everyone loves pictures! (Some of these might stretch your screen, just a warning.) I have a small collection of international postcards. And nice stamps, too! Most of them are from Oceania and Asia, but I have a small page of older foreign ones. Some cool foreign cards. Dutch people like sending me stereotypical rainbow cards. And I've got American cards from the following states: Arizona, Pennsylvania, Hawaii, California, Nevada, Massachusetts, and Georgia. Some people like putting silly drawings on their cards. I occasionally get rare cards (which are cards from countries whose citizens don't often get on the internet much because they're not westerners). That's why a large number of the cards I have are German and American. It's not often I get one from Egypt. Sometimes people send me things other than postcards. It's always a surprise to check my mailbox and see them. A Swiss guy sent a packet of mailable chocolate (I didn't even know this existed). An Israeli sent some trinkets. I even got a kippah! Unexpected things happen a lot. #1 is a 1930's vintage card from Baden, Austria. Two Russians from Moscow sent me the same card days apart. It's of the Moscow State University, which was designed by Stalin. There's always a chance of the card not being received. This one went to Argentina and came back. Thanks for looking! Now, please tell me about the things you collect. ;D

wow, that's a pretty impressive collection you've got there! i don't currently have any collections i've put any remarkable effort or time into, but i did formerly collect the tabs from soda cans. i think before i stopped i reached triple digits, i'll have to see if i can go find them.
oh, and ah... not a fan of the show(much as i love faust, i'll have to leave it for the target audience), but i've still got a collection larger than i care to admit of my little ponies and various accessories and whatnot gathering dust in my closet somewhere. i imagine the netwuff's overwhelming amount of bronies might want to gawk at that

I collect trading cards.... Mostly Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh, but I have few Zelda: Twilight Princess and Mario ones lying around. :B
Thanks to my aunt, I also have a very small wind-up toy collection. She gives all her nephews and nieces new ones every year. XD

I collect bats. 8D Anything with bats on it. I have so many plushies and jewelry and all sorts of Halloween odds and ends. One of these days I need to take a photo of all of it; I probably have over 300 bat items now. (Sadly most of it is at my parent's house in VA instead of my apartment in GA.)
I would also have to say I'm a collector of Neo stuff, even though I don't buy everything Neopets. (Just a LOT of Neo... >.>) I have every type of Poogle plush, and every Uni plush, as well as lots and lots of other Neo stuffs.

Cathy...are you by any chance a Postcrosser? Because if you are, its awesome to see another one here and if you're not, I highly recommend you join up if you collect postcards. ^^ And I must say, you have a very impressive collection. I collect postcards too, from the aforementioned Postcrossing. Other than that, I also collect interesting stones and seashells as well as dragon items and generally stuff that I find cool or interesting. I'm a bit of a packrat. xD

How much neopets stuff do you have? I've got like 6 plushies, from Limited Too when I went to the US, and some from Target. They only released series 3 plushies in Australia and they're really hard to find and expensive. $15 for a small 6 inch neopet is overpriced, even with our very high costs of living. Yes, I do have a postcrossing account. You can add me if you want: www.postcrossing.com/user/sgushenkaSome of my cards are from Postcrossing, but most were exchanged on an anonymous international imageboard, that's why there are so many drawings of country flag balls - users are represented not by usernames, but by their countries. One of my favourite things about exchanging cards is decorating them. You can probably guess which countries they went to. The last one is of Marko Vanhanen, known by his username "markorepairs" on youtube. He's famous for his Finglish videos, which is where his "My cofe machine is full power" meme came from. www.youtube.com/watch?v=oWuyrlXI7nA"Cofe time for in talk english". You may not know what's going on, but I found it hilarious.

Ohhh that's an impressive postcard collection! (and stamp of course) XD My mother use to collect coins, postcards, Christmas cards and birthday cards. She never wanted to throw them away. At this moment shes collecting anything that's Pink Floyd. XD
I collect tiger things. ANY KIND! Sports teams, brand ANYTHING which has something to do WITH a tiger. EVEN THE TIGERS COLOURS! (white included.) Most of my collection is packed away in boxes at this moment. HOWEVER, once I move and un-pack it I'll post a picture of it all. It's not very big however but I don't usually go buy every tiger thing I see. XD
One thing I've started collecting recently is Angry Birds. But there's only about three items at the moment.
Other things I collected but are now out of sale were... Smelly Belly's, Neopets and Bionicles. I'll post pictures of ALL these things eventually!
also, notice that almost all the other things I collect are toys of some kind? heh. You're never too old for toys.

And I usually wound up with five from each series (more for that time they had that Halloween set). I also have lots of old Limited Too plushies, maybe a dozen of those... Four Jumbo-style plushies from the new set, plus two Kacheeks from the Limited Too days, two action figures (Grarrl Gladiator and Scorchio Soldier), all sorts of litttle stationary notebooks and sticker sets, both sets of the word-magnets (Faerie and Sloth), the board game, a handful of the little figurines (though I didn't like those that much), some keychains, some little charm bracelets, aaaaand three artist sketch drawings (two korbats plus one Halloween mynci. Two from Comic Con and one from the Mall tour). And then I also have a ton of the cards. I used to play the TCG obsessively, so I have SO many of the cards (including one of every card with a Korbat printed on it). Ahahahaha, typing it all out makes me feel like I'm a crazy person.

I collect keychain virtual pets. Mostly Tamagotchis. Tamagotchis (P2), Tamagotchi Angel, Tamagotchi Minis, Tamagotchi Connexxions, Tamagotchi Connections (V1, V2, V3, V4, V4.5, V5), Digimon (V1), Digimon Pendulums (P1, P2, P3), Digivices, generic electronic pet games, Compu Kitty, 101 Dalmantions, Pocket Pikachus and a Neopets virtual pet. I'm actually running out of room for them. XD I also collect other toys. Transformers and Furbies are my favourite toys rights now. (and I have a weakness for plushie mascot backpacks. XD) I used to collect: Beanie Babies (Still have my MASSIVE collection of these)Pokemon merchandise (I have a few plushies, comics and figures)Yu-Gi-Oh! cards (I have the original starter deck. I stopped buying them when GX cards replaced the originals. I hate GX and everything that came after it. XD)Neopets plushies (I have a bunch of plushies and McDonalds plush toys. I also have two of the electronic talking toys)

I collect Jones soda bottle caps! I used to collect the bottles as well, since they always had such neat pictures on the label, but I ran out of room so now I just collect the caps. They have these really cute fortunes on the inside, and I'm thinking about maybe making a mobile out of them one day, but right now I am just focusing on gathering. It's fun!

I used to play the TCG obsessively, so I have SO many of the cards (including one of every card with a Korbat printed on it). Ahahahaha, typing it all out makes me feel like I'm a crazy person. Wow, that really is a LOT. Seeing as I buy neopets items as often as I see them, I'm kind of glad that very few of them are released over here. We only got one series of plushies (and I only saw 2/3 of the ones that were supposed to be featured - I wanted the strawberry usul), and before that we had the McDonald's promotion and that's pretty much it. How on Neopia do you have the space for them? They take up a lot of room, and even if I pack them into a box in my wardrobe, there's still enough that I have to shove them back in when I open the door. I don't stuff them in too tightly because I keep most of the tags and ribbons on. Hey, might be worth something on eBay one day. Speaking of value, have you ever sold off your lesser liked older plushies to make room? A lot of the old ones are retired and people from other countries who never even had a single series of plushies released would pay a decent amount. After KeyQuest, I started to see plushies with the codes still on being sold for way higher than retail. I collect keychain virtual pets. Mostly Tamagotchis. Tamagotchis (P2), Tamagotchi Angel, Tamagotchi Minis, Tamagotchi Connexxions, Tamagotchi Connections (V1, V2, V3, V4, V4.5, V5), Digimon (V1), Digimon Pendulums (P1, P2, P3), Digivices, generic electronic pet games, Compu Kitty, 101 Dalmantions, Pocket Pikachus and a Neopets virtual pet. Is it a very expensive hobby? I remember everyone had one of those 10 years ago, and I had one too, only I put it somewhere and it probably got thrown away. Are they in working order, or have the batteries run out? Where do you get them? It's nice to see someone collecting something other than state quarters or yu-gi-oh cards! And tomorrow I'm planning to go to a small postcarding convention to see if I can get some more stamps and vintage postcards. It's going to be cool since a lot of other card collectors will be there! How exciting! The only thing bad about it is that I'll be a complicated trek through the public transportation (1 bus and 2 trains to get there) system since I live in the Sydney metropolitan area. And unlike in the US, drivers' licenses take longer to get and even used cars are 5k+ so very people of my age own and drive. Well, at least I can get some exercise walking around, and we don't have those huge and horrifying strip malls with acres of parking lot and suburbs so spread out you can't walk to get your groceries...anyways, I'm rambling so I'll stop it now.

Okay, so I went to the postcard fair. One of the organisers who invited me turned out to be a total whiny French drama queen named Laurent who kept on turning every conversation to one about himself. He turns out to run a French restaurant and cooking school and exchanges 50 postcards a week. Most of the other people were really nice. I was probably one of the youngest people there, the only people under the ages of twenty was a girl and a boy whose mums brought them. The rest of them were at least 40 years old. I spent a few hours browsing the stands and it was really amazing. It turns out they have this fair every 3 months so I plan on going again some day. Here are some photos of my day (lots of photos!) The cheaper cards (from 10c - 50c each) were arranged in shoeboxes or mixed in tubs on tables in a jumbled pile, so you have to do a lot of digging to find some good stuff. It's pretty nice, because new cards you'd buy at the shops cost much more than the vintage ones. The more expensive cards that cost $5 - $60 - auction only were wrapped in plastic and on display racks and I didn't look through those. I'm not a hardcore collector like a lot of the others, and I don't have the money just to splurge on a single fancy card. And here's some photos of my haul. Over the day, I bought ~60 cards, a few of which I plan to send to friends and penpals. Most of the cards I bought were unused and in decent condition. I preferred the vintage ones of architecture. I love castles and church ones! Most of the cards were just sorted by price, and a lot of them were used. I bought a few used ones because they had nice stamps and postmarks. I like cards from now defunct countries - I saw a few from the USSR, East Germany, Czechoslovakia, Yugoslavia, Rhodesia, and British Hong Kong. I also happened across rare stamped cards sent from Monte Carlo, Monaco, and Vatican City. It was pretty great - I managed to get cards that are 30 - 90 years old, and a lot of them were in good condition, if you don't mind the yellowing. And since I stuck to the bargain jumble stands, I got them all for a decent price. Vintage German cards. This top one was one of Frederick the Great. The corners were torn because it used to belong in someone's album, and that person didn't bother peeling it out carefully. Vintage German views of the Rhine (left) and a set on Potsdam (right). Vintage French card, the back looks a lot different from the ones we get today. Cards from Switzerland. I loved the mountains over the city, which is why I bought them. CCCP/USSR cards. From 1961, 1976, and 1980. DDR/East German cards. Some painting repro vintages from an art museum in London. What I got today. The last picture is of stack of cards I got today. I've greatly expanded my collection of vintage cards. I would definitely put up with Laurent and go again one day.

Wow, that's a really cool collection! I don't think I've ever seen anyone collect Tamagotchis. :D Thank you. :D It can be expensive if you're trying to buy the vintage, foreign or rarer versions. The rare vintage Tamagotchi Devilgotchi can sell for anywhere between $150-$250. o_o; It's generally pretty inexpensive to collect common virtual pets, though. Sadly, due to scalpers and their artificial price inflation scam that's been going steady for a few years, it's almost impossible to get Digimon Tamagotchis for a fair price anywhere online. :( It's a real shame, because they are my absolute favourite. The ones in my collection are succumbing to their age and wear. I can't even play with them anymore. :'{ -- Most of my collection was pieced together by thrift store finds. A lot of those Tamagotchi Connections only cost me around $3 or less thanks to thrift stores. :D My Grandma tries to find them for me at thrift stores and yard sales, aswell, which contributes greatly to my collection. <3 The rest are either retail purchases or gifts. -- All of my virtual pets are in working order. :D Some are in mintier condition than others, but that's expected with vintage items, and items bought second-hand. ^^ I have removed the batteries from every one, except for the red one in the middle of the line of six that are not in the container. ('cause I'm currently playing with it X3)The reason they don't have batteries in them unless I'm using them is because leaving batteries inside electronic devices can be damaging. The batteries can leak and corrode. I've actually had to throw one virtual pet out due to that. The previous owner had left batteries inside, and the corrosion totally destroyed the device. :{ [/gigantic reply]

After KeyQuest, I started to see plushies with the codes still on being sold for way higher than retail. Haha, when I was a kid I had so many plushies that my dad turned one wall of my room into shelves. XD So they sit there, mostly. I haven't moved any to my new apartment, so I admit I don't know how I'd fit them all in here. Would probably have to buy a bookshelf just for them. And actually, a few of them I only bought to sell, like my mini collection of all the electric-colored ones, or some extra Halloween ones. I just haven't gotten around to doing so. ._. Oh, I do have a photo of my room: chaoskomori.deviantart.com/art/Komori-s-Room-102894708Except that that photo is a few years old now, so I've added to my collections since then. And wow, those are really nice postcards! I especially like the vintage ones. Do you just keep them in a pile, or do they make, like, post card binders like they do for trading cards?
