Title may or may not change. But here is the plot of my NaNo this year.
Arikkha is a young dragon who has always wanted to go out into the world and learn about humans; unfortunately, she is a dragon, which aren't often welcome in the human-populated kingdoms beyond their mountains. And then there's her mother, a dragon who in human terms might be called a Queen who is insistent upon Ari getting a good education in order to prepare her to rule over their mountains one day.
One day, Ari meets a witch who offers her the chance of a lifetime: a spell that will transform her into a human. Ari agrees without a second thought and runs away into the human kingdoms south of the mountains; unfortunately, the witch's intentions might not be as innocent as Ari believes...
Meanwhile, Godrik appears to be no more than your average knight errant, traveling from town to town and kingdom to kingdom in search of adventure, beer, and damsels in distress - just like every other knight errant. However, Godrik has a secret - he is a prince, one-time heir apparent, who was forced to flee after his father died and his brother Geoffrey usurped the throne that was rightfully his. As luck would have it, the first damsel he meets is Ari - and he has no idea that this eccentric yet pretty girl is actually a dragon.
And Ari has no idea that her new friend is actually a prince, though it is dubious whether or not she would actually care.
Hilarity, adventures, and yes, beer, all ensue until Ari's mother figures out where she is and comes to take her back. Godrik has no idea that the terrifying beast that dropped out of the sky was Ari's overprotective mother - he's convinced she was taken by a dragon, because that's what dragons do with girls, right?
Now he must go on a quest to rescue Ari from her mom, and he has no idea what he's getting into.
