:3 Just another one of those random threads to contribute interesting, if pointless, information about yourself. (And in this case, your family) I mean, there are all sorts of jobs you wouldn't know existed if you hadn't known a person who did it. Feel free to add other relatives (grandparents, siblings, etc) too, especially if they have interesting jobs. ;D My dad's an electrician at the shipyard, which is the largest privately-owned shipyard in the US. He's mostly in charge of clocks, like timeclocks and stuff like that. I'm still not completely sure what that entails. My mum's worked all sorts of jobs, mostly secretarial, but for a while she was a police officer. (I have nothing but the utmost respect for the blue, even if there are plenty of corrupt people within it. >.> Overall, police are awesome.) Nowadays she works as a purchasing assistant at the coal yard, which also happens to be one of the largest coal shipping facilities in the US. XD Her job is basically buying all the nuts, bolts, and equipment for the coal workers to do their thing. Both my grandpas, and my step-grandpa, were all military officers. :3

I think I've mentioned to a number of people that my dad's a firefighter/EMT on the Hazmat team. For as long as I can remember. And he's the one who's actually into all the science/computer stuff, so the others at the fire station often go to him for troubleshooting and whatnot. It's lead to some interesting dinner conversations and such. My mom's been wanting to get a book published, but hasn't been under employment or anything for a long time.

My dad's a corrosion engineer for an oil company.
My mom doesn't have a job and hasn't had one for a very long time, but she does have a Master's degree.

My Dad teaches Law at the university he went to, and Mom writes copy for Hanes (the clothing company). Dad was a lawyer for most of my life, and a middle school teacher before that, which contributed to his theory that all seventh graders should be shipped to farms to do hard physical labor for a year. XD Mom was a freelance writer for a while, and helped raise a lot of money for charities by the letters she wrote for them.

Well, my parents have thoroughly boring jobs. But my sister works in a framing and laminating company. And my brother does AI research in Hong Kong! :3 Which is cool.

Both my parents are teachers. My uncle is a teacher. My grandparents were teachers. My great aunts were teachers. Everyone's a teacher.
...I come from a rich and varied professional lineage. xD;
Okay, so I'm sort of not being entirely truthful. There are indeed a few members of my family who, against all odds, did not end up teaching in elementary schools. My aunt on my dad's side (who I'm very close to) is a vet, I have a great uncle who is a geologist/textbook writer, and one of my grandfathers worked for the government as a... land contractor on the railway, I think?
But for the most part, my family is very academic. xD; Our family curse seems to be that we never really get out of school.

My dad's a public school teacher and my mom has some sort of managerial position for a winery (though she's involved in other stuff, not the making-of-the-wine).
One of my uncles is some sort of engineer and spent a very long time designing a battery to go into a brain implant meant to stop people from having seizures.

My father was a chemist.
My mom... does a lot of stuff. She's a dog trainer (I'm my mother's boss, it's awesome) and she also works in the nutritional services support staff for a hospital -- she's in charge of the catering.

Mine are both retired. Before that, though, my dad was a pastor, and my mom was the, uh... the headmistress of my school. It was... special. Not that I'm not utterly proud of them or anything though.

My dad flies C-130 airplanes! He used to be in the air force, but now he works with the National Guard and Fed-Ex. He was even scheduled to fly on 9/11 back when he worked for United. o: Close shave.
My mom is a K-4 computer teacher.

Both my parents are doctors! Actually, my uncle is a doctor, my cousin and my brother are studying to become brothers, my grandfather is a doctor. And since I want to become a graphic designer, I call myself the rainbow colored sheep in the herd. XD

My dad is a physicist in Southampton. I don't know specifcally what he does though.
My mum is a computing officer and web designer for the university I go to, which is convenient. xD Plus she does freelance translations on the side.
I'm not sure that it's what she does now but my gran once worked for an NGO for raising awareness and dealing with human trafficking.
Also, my grandad was a physicist but back in the days of the Soviet Union, he went on an expedition to the Indian Ocean to do research with some government types. He wasn't involved in anything personally (according to him anyway) but it sounded like they were investigating soundwaves, which undoubtedly would have come in handy in dealing with submarines.

My dad used to be a prospector, which actually sounds like the most awesome job imaginable. He got to go all sorts of places, climb mountains, hike through forests that have never seen human-life... he has so many stories to tell about his adventures. He's too old for that, now, though, so he's applying all his many handy life-skills by working for the town, doing odd jobs, keeping things in order...
My mom is a social worker. Sort of. She's like... the boss, the one that writes up propositions and makes sure that everything is organized. Right now she's working on a project that strives to keep kids out of gangs by getting them involved in sports and other activities and stuff.
Pretty cool I guess. ^__^

I'm not... really... sure? My Dad does something with computers, and my mom doesn't have a real job per se, but she teaches Sunday School.
