Candy glanced at Terra.
"Well, what would we do?" she asked quietly, then jerked both her hands behind her back when she realized she hadn't let go of Drake's hand ((hey, we never said that one of them let go. >_>)) and sighed, saying, "It's not like we would be able to do much, we have no control over what they say and do..." she let her voice trail off.
Suddenly, Candy's eyes lit up.
"Guys, let's go to the fields!" she squealed, even though storm clouds had appeared. She wasn't afraid of a little rain.

Terra watched Ariana go. She didn't know Ariana well, but she seemed like she might be an anxious sort. She was a bit concerned - what could happen to a young, innocent girl like her in times like this? - but she tried not to think about it too much. "I just mean...you know...maybe the police could be doing a better job," said Terra. "Or we could organize a neighborhood watch or something." She noticed that Candy had been gripping Drake's hand, but she didn't comment. She blinked at Candy's suggestion. "The fields? Why?"

"Every town has murders... but I guess a neighborhood watch would be interesting," Candy said thoughtfully.
She blushed and kept her eyes away from Drake, focusing her gaze on Terra.
"Well, because I have horses, of course, there's enough for each of us to ride in the field," Candy giggled, smiling. She grabbed Terra and Drake's arms and tried to pull them toward her house, using all her strength.

BANG.
"IT'S FINALLY HAPPENED!"
Icon barely had time to look up from his typewriter before Robyn swooped from the door to his desk, and a clatter of....objects came raining down all over his previously tidy workspace. A closer inspection proved them to be an assortment of lenses and tapes. Icon couldn't even begin to protest the intrusion, as his blonde associate jumped right into assembling her camera atop his notes and talking a mile a minute.
"Oh, you'll never believe it. I mean, that is, if you haven't heard it already. But how couldn't you have heard it already? It's the only news this town has had in-- well, it's pretty much the only important news-- heck, this is the biggest story we've ever found, buddy. Get your notepad or whatever, we need to get into town and check this out for ourselves."
Robyn's mind was soaring as she tightened the camcorder strap onto her wrist. Finally, something in this deadbeat, cowpoke town that might prove to be her big break as a famous documentarian! She wondered if the body was still in the town square; that'd certainly be winning footage. A bit callous, perhaps, but such was the price of artistic exposé. She raced back over to the door and threw a look back at Icon. His desk was in a state of complete disarray by now, and his brows furrowed firmly in annoyance. Robyn waited at the threshold.
"Well, are you coming or not?"

(For the record, Robyn and I are doing this as a team, so you may or may not see dialogue from her in my posts and vice versa.)
Icon sighed. "Alright, alright, let me get my stuff ready." Moving some of his items out of the way into a haphazard pile, he grabbed his notebook, his pencil, and the prize of his collection- a dusty looking typewriter. He had purchased it secondhand from one of the local stores, and while it wasn't particularly impressive looking, it got the job done.
"I still don't get why you use that thing," Robyn commented, rolling her eyes.
"Hey, don't insult my equipment. This stuff will be vital to getting that job of yours done in the first place."
"Can you at least leave it here and type everything up later? I swear that scrap heap will weigh you down, and we want to get this job done as quickly as possible." Robyn was tapping her foot with impatience.
"...Alright, you've got a point." Icon left the typewriter where it was, grabbed an extra pen, then headed for the door. "Let's go! Investigator Robyn Byrd and her co-editor Icon are on the case!"

I kind of want to find out more about what happened, if that's okay. Maybe later?" Terra didn't exactly want to admit that she'd only ridden a horse once in her life, when she was ten years old, and it'd gone disastrously. She still had a scar on her arm from the incident. Of course, in such a small town, there was a good chance that Candy already knew about it, but still...it had been a bit humiliating, and she didn't want to bring it up if she didn't have to. "Do you want to get something to eat?" she said. "I mean, we could go to the deli, or maybe get some cupcakes..."

Celes finally arrived at the town square. Bert had been right to bring an umberella, which he dutifully awaited to open over her head in case of rain. That darned weatherman could not predit the weather if his life depended on it, she always thought. Although, the weather was quite appropriate for such a setting. It definitely gave the town a Film Noir feel.
Most of the townspeople were here, from labourers to the fortune teller to the upper classes such as herself. Some of the shops were open and the town was as busy as ever. It almost looked normal, save for the fear in everyone's eyes. Celes was ever so good at seeing fear. Shame she had no use for such a thing, in a lifestyle like her's. Nature was always so silly, giving people gifts they did not need like a ditzy maiden aunt. And it wasn't like you could take that gift back and exchange it for something nice, like a new dress or a necklace.
The girl doubted that any of the people would want to talk to her and she certainly felt awkward butting into their coversations. She may have been spoilt but she still had basic manners. Butting into conversations often made you unpopular and now, with all the murder going on, unpopularity would be the last thing you need. It was best to have plenty of friends.
Celes approached the bench on which Joseph Maximillian III was sitting. She had seen him before but she never bothered to properly introduce herself. Now was a good time as any, the girl figured.
"Hello," she said. "Awful weather we're having. Of course, it's a perfect match to an already awful day."
She looked down at the bench and then back at Joseph.
"My name is Miss Celes Teal. It's a pleasure to meet you. Do you mind if I sit down?"

Mr. Thunderbolt N. Kitsune was at work when the news of Hunty's death arrived. The detective, in his haste to skip town, also skipped the formality of informing him in person, and instead delivered the news of his wife's death by telephone.
It was no mistake that although they were married, Hunty was still the town floozy, which kept the reactors running smoothly How else were you going to recruit more mindless drones to mine for uranium? Certainly not with a plate of cookies and a note promising not to irradiate them too much.
As such, there was now a ruined telephone on the sidewalk, and a sizeable hole in his office window above the store from which the phone had made a swift exit. Cursing his own temper, the local police department, and just about anyone else that could be involved, he sent the staff home early and closed the store.
He tried to walk himself back to the house, but couldn't force himself to go, and instead found himself sitting on the stoop of the Thunderkitsune Armouries trying to catch some clear thoughts through all the confusion.

But I guess we'd be safer if everyone was around," she murmured, looking confused, before beaming at Terra and saying, "Cupcakes would be great! I'll pay." Candy whirled around, still clutching their arms, and tried to drag them off to the cupcake store.

Drake just stayed quiet as he seemed to be dragged around. When talk of food came up he thought about it.
"I could go for something to eat actually."
When they arrived at the deli he looked at the sign.
"Deep-fried ch'ikken leg drizzled with mayo... Sounds like lunch."
He steps into the deli to order.
"I do believe it is lunch time again, and once again I am here because I'm to lazy to make my own lunch. I'll take the chicken today."

Candy found herself, instead of dragging Drake and Terra, to be dragged into the deli by Drake.
"But I thought we were going to get cupcakes!" she protested, trying to drag him away.
When he started to order, Candy glanced at Terra and said, "Sorry, guess we're getting something at the deli... Drake, you're still coming to get cupcakes with us."
Before Drake could pay for the chicken, she put a $20 bill down in front of Drake.
"You're not paying. I am."

Despite Candy's protests, Terra soon found herself in the deli along with Candy and Drake.
"Sorry, guess we're getting something at the deli... Drake, you're still coming to get cupcakes with us."
"Oh, I don't mind," said Terra, amused. Ordinarily, she would've been a bit annoyed by all this getting dragged around, but somehow, she didn't mind it right then. She considered buying something at the deli as well, but it hadn't been that long since she had eaten, so she decided against it.
As she watched Candy put down a twenty in front of Drake, she said, "You're very eager to pay for things today, aren't you?"
She looked at the owner of the deli and smiled. "Hi, Chane. How are you doing today?"

Great, she thought as she gathered up her things yet again and began to walk home. As she did, however, she noticed Meowington go into the fortune teller's tent. ((FYI, Ginz and I are out in the Town Square, not in Ginz's tent.)) "Anyway, what brings you to the Town Square today?" the fortune teller asked him. "I've heard about the grotesque murder of the Floozy," Meowington said casually, glancing at the other citizens as they walked by. "It seems to me that mafia is rising up, and I'm a bit worried for some of the citizens as they might be targeted within the future. So I find it very fortunate that I have found you, with your gift of foresight, today. May I ask if you had any visions of what might happen in the near future? I sense quite a bit of stress from your facial expressions."
