I thought that the Leaky Cauldron confirmed that it wasn't a book, but going back through their news I can't find it. So I either imagined that or they got NDA'd.  I'm really interested to find out what this is all about. |

I doubt it's more books. If anything, it'll be a dump basket for all the juicy notes that she's taken over the years about all her canonical characters. Ooh that'd be awesome... from what I gather she has a tendency to give her minor characters an incredibly rich set of backstories. Which hardly ever make it to print. And then this would be a place where she finally releases all the sweet info.

Which would be really cool. =D Oh, I just followed Pottermore's Twitter account, and it says (from 45 seconds ago): "Looks like the owls are getting ready to deliver some exciting news: www.youtube.com/JKRowlingAnnounces #pottermore" *immediately goes to link* EDIT: 6 days, 13 hours, 57 minutes, and 8 seconds until JK Rowling's announcement.  |

Ooh ooh! It looks like we're going to get more background notes from Jo Rowling out of this thing!
It's a little odd that registration won't be open yet for several months. But I don't know what sort of site building process it might be in the middle of, so I guess I can only wait and see. =D

From the previews I've seen, you go through the plot of the book, but playing as a character, picking up facts along the way (so, say, you're in the Dursley's home, there might be facts about how the Dursleys first met) |

Hmm, if I'm interpreting right, it's fans of the books (as well as JKR) writing stories in the Harry Potter universe? And roleplaying as well, it seems; I think that's what she meant by a cooperative reading experience. But hard to tell.
Anyway, I signed up. Might be interesting to follow JKR's stuff, since she said she would be adding more to the universe.
I'm not the type of person who takes on characters from other series'. I'd probably be okay with using the Harry Potter universe as a base and creating new fan characters. I don't really write fanfiction at all, but I do have an idea...
Also, I thought JKR didn't read fanfiction. xD

It sounds kinda cool, I like the idea of a more in-depth look at the Potter universe. I really love hearing about little extra details and backstories of things that authors couldn't fit into their books, so I'm sure I'll enjoy it for that at least, though getting to play around in the Potter world sounds like it could be fun as well.
