I need to keep in mind that I too am doing progress in my life. I too am pursuing my goals, befriending new people, challenging my limitations, and overall building my future how I want it. I'm no longer stagnant, watching everyone surpass me and leave me behind. It's so easy to fall into the trap of comparing myself to others, of thinking less of myself because I didn't achieve something they achieved, mainly considering my competitive nature. I need to keep in mind I don't want that, I never wanted that, and pursuing that will only take away energy from my goals. I need to quit feeling bad for not achieving something that I never wanted on the first place, just because others did it.

Given the severe cold snap that's happening over the weekend, I'm gonna spend this time being a hermit. I've got foodstuffs prepared, nice clothes prepared, and plenty of work around the home or on the computer I can accomplish. I am ready.
...Buuuut they chose the cold snap to plow the parking lot and made us move all cars during a time when it was impractical, so I also have to play a brief game of "oh gosh please don't let my car be stuck here and let me be able to take it back."
Well, in any case, parkas at ready.
EDIT: Okay, really good winter gear makes a big difference. Where I had good winter gear, -20F/-29C felt like nothing! (And the parts where I didn't, well, it was my own fault for not properly dressing up in that area since I actually do have something for that.)
So I may not actually need to be a total hermit.
...But y'know? May as well live it up. *Prepares chili for dinner.*

Combo rant/gloat
On the one hand, it took me 2 1/2 hours to get home from work tonight and the roads were terrible. (snow) On the other hand, last time this happened it took me 4 1/2 hours to get home from work. So in that sense, it ONLY took me 2 1/2 hours this time.
But still... 2 1/2 hours. lol

I refuse to have white hairs. Even if I have to pluck them all off, one at a time, I refuse to allow for my parents' early aging genes to show through. I'm only 24!

Putting on a music playlist while making dinner was a good idea. It came with a side effect though: Because all the music was from the same band, I began to notice the similarities and patterns between songs, and now I can't unhear it.
This is probably why I should find more diverse playlists.

I'd like to take this opportunity to apologize to all of the IRL people that I have accidentally stared at for a very uncomfortable amount of time because I probably needed new glasses, and I was just trying to figure out if I knew them or not, and then they looked up and we made eye contact, and they definitely weren't the person I thought they were and I'm so so sorry, why, would you look at how interesting this menu over here is~ x'D

I love how healthy and big and voluminous my hair is getting
But like, taking 2 hours to dry is sort of a ridiculous thing. I wanna put up my hair without messing it up!

I'm learning that a language barrier is a lot more daunting depending on your line of work.
After all, most native English speakers can suss out what *points to chicken nuggets* "un media libre" means, but if you don't speak fluent Spanish then you have zero hope of communicating "it sounds like there's a problem with your drivers, download this software that is also in English and follow the prompts"

So this morning I was chatting to an American teenage girl whose family live in Vanuatu: Her: Oh, wow, you have such beautiful long hair!! Me: Thank you (: Her: I used to have long hair like yours Me: *on the verge of asking why she cut it* Her: But I had to cut it short a few years ago because in the village in Vanuatu we live in a rain shadow, and there’s lots of drought so there just wasn’t enough water for me to wash it. Me: ... Her: I mean, sometimes I would just wash it in the ocean but *shrugs* Me: ...
That just... puts a few things into perspective actually. I mean, the drought’s been pretty severe out where I am this last year but, I’ve never had to think about cutting my hair because of it... just wow.

Me: I should start studying there's 3 weeks before the semester begins Me: Me: You know... I never got around watching some series I said I'd get to eventually.
And thus I watched Over The Garden Wall all at once. I have only one theory regarding the nature and lore of this show: near-death experience-induced crossing of the hedge. It makes sense, the show is set in a very specific date associated with the thinning of the veil in between supernatural and reality, and stories of near death experiences where someone is paid a visit of a spirit of some sort, or visits the spirit lands, ARE things that you hear and read about. So yeah. *nods*

Coworkers, stop bringing in sweets! You're the reason I've gained so much weight this past year. 8D;;

A friend of mine asked me to be her bridesmaid for a... wait for it... HARRY POTTER THEMED wedding. My inner geek is screaming. I'm a super Ravenclaw, so this gal is really stoked. \o/
And so are my upper traps, evidently. Thanks, body. But no pain shall bum my excitement, I'm totally pumped!

Kind of want to cut my hair again to donate it, kind of want to be selfish and keep it for myself because I love my long hair. I guess I have time to decide; I probably wouldn't cut it until spring anyway. It helps me stay warm during winter, it's like wearing a cape!

A person I've known since I started birding is forwarding my name along in the attempt to get me a job in my field... And now I'm hearing back from his connections from around the state. They want me to call/email them my resume and are asking if I'm interested in any specific openings.
Gotta hold it together, don't cry, don't cry... ;_;
And hoping for the best.
The only thing that kind of made me D: was his "she's working at a movie theater right now. What a waste of talent." Ahahahaha.... ha... but that's okay. He means well. :S
