Does anyone else support the idea of having a sub-board for plots/arcs/mini-arcs and doing away with the location threads? NOT deleting them, just discontinuing their use for that purpose. Considering the small size of the Taco board and the small number of plot threads, I don't think it's necessary to have a subboard.

YO TACO, CALLING FOR A VOTE taco-city.wikia.com/wiki/Category:CharactersThis is the Taco City wiki, and I'd like votes on how to organize the Characters page. Current it's organized by region the characters hail from, and I'd like to know if people like it that way or if it should be organized by some other standard, like species or universe of origination. I personally think some form of organization should be in place for it, but my area of concern for this moment is how to go about dealing with "different versions" of the same universe? Eg. Though Artemis technically comes from a place called Earth, it wouldn't be the same one that we know, and that is shared between other people's characters coming from the same place. If we do go by universe of origin, I feel like that would need to be taken into account somehow since I consider them as different versions of the universe. Perhaps species might fit better? Like if anything, we can always detail their universe of origin within their own pages. This is just my perspective though, and i'd prefer examining different ways and possibilities for organization.

"Universe" in story terms doesn't actually refer to what the characters would call their universe, but rather what we, the writers would. I suppose "Storyverse" is a less confusing term? I think just alphabetically would be the simplest. Simplest perhaps, but you'd never find your character. I had 40 at last count.

I think when we can see the number of characters being added there'd need to be some organization. Like if anything, we can always have an "all characters" page that lists them all alphabetically. For example, if someone wanted to go through them all or was searching for someone in specific.

I'm pretty sure the default/most common sort is alphabetical.
Characters can have tags denoting their series/origin/whatever. Tags can have pages showing all pages that have that tag. I think tags may also be searchable. If we go with that, we can have both an alphabetical 'all characters' page, and individual pages dividing characters by type.

To clarify, I'm specifically asking what categories should be on the "Characters" drop down. This list does not auto sort alphabetically. I added the "All Characters" category Mail suggested to it, and that does auto sort alphabetically. link

Since there have been no further objections or arguments against it not being a good idea to have 40+ names on a drop-down, I'm going to go ahead and close the debate. So officially on the Taco City wiki characters are not to be placed directly in the "Characters" category, but rather under "All Characters" (to address the subject of there at least being a place where all characters are listed alphabetically), and also under the category for their respective story universe (and any other categories the writer of the character feels applies, besides the "Character" category).
Anything but a posted statement on this thread that addresses the already brought-up concerns and provides ideas for an alternative solution signifies agreement.

There's a Taco City Wiki?? How does that work? Taco City WikiThe wiki is still in infancy, but we've got it divided up to stories and roleplays, characters, and mechanics. Stories and roleplays is where you'd make a page for a story or rp and write a summery for it, including a link to the thread or webpage the full story is housed on. For characters we're doing subcategories of origin storyverse and listing characters from there (and also having an "All characters" category for those who wish to browse). Mechanics is about how Taco City "works".

The drop-down can have a maximum of seven subcategories. In light of this I created a "Neopians" subcategory and moved "Krawk Islanders" under it, and a "Mega Man" subcategory, moving "Neo Arcadians" under that. In the future, should we have a "Franchise Characters" subcategory that all official and fan characters go under? Should it be further subdivided by worlds? Being from published worlds means their world doesn't really need a wiki page on the Taco City wiki (assuming they're canon-following; AU might need its own page if it's extensive enough to not get fully covered on character pages).

Okay, making a "Franchise Characters" category for fan and official characters. If you want to create a category under that for your characters you can feel free to do so, otherwise it just all sorts alphabetically.

Hello! Should there be an "Original Characters" category, like there is for franchise characters? All original (true original, no fan characters) can be placed in said category and further sub categories can be added later, if the writer so chooses. So far I'm the only one to create a category for my originals, so the other originals can only be found under the "All Characters" category. Mail and Prooobably Not Jeffely, since you've added to the character pages, I'm particularly interested in your opinions.

What I did for this was just to specify whether they were original or not in some of the text...at least I think I did that? I think it could at least help for searching up characters like if i'm not sure if someone's rping a fandom one or not. How would "Neo OCs" fit into this? Like if they share the species of the fan world, but otherwise they're their own characters? Would they still fall under fan characters?
