Why can't I create a new account?

I'm having the same darned issue. I've tried different browsers, computers, school, home, and NOTHING is working. I've been having this issue since February when I went to create a side account. I'm not IP banned because my main is fine and I've never been in trouble before. I don't understand what's going on.

It's a tinkle off because I'm sick and tired of trying to make a side and ALL the names I try get stuck on the e-mail part.

it's doing this for me too, and whenever i started the registration process it said the username was available, but when i went back to try again it said it's not available anymore?

I've been having this same issue. Tried with a few different names, same deal, get to enter email, error, username is now unavailable.
One of the usernames I have been trying to sign up with for weeks is now in use by someone, the sign up date is marked as ONE DAY after the day that I had tried signing up and had gotten this error. How unfair is that???

I even searched Neopets for the specific usernames that I wanted BEFORE I even tried signing up. Every different way that I searched, I got: "Sorry, nobody by this name exists in Neopia. Try another username in the search box below!" or "Sorry, we did not find an account with that username."


I submitted a ticket to Neopets and this is what I got as a relpy...

If you continue to have this issue with a specific name(s), you'll have to try another one. Sorry! : )

..sounds like a load of BS if you ask me. What are Neopets 'sister-sites' and why would that affect Neopets usernames?? Makes no sense..

Just submitted another ticket about this today, lets see what they say this time. (If they even answer, that is.)

It's not a joke. Neopets is part of the Nickelodeon virtual worlds, and has been for a number of years now.

Two examples of sister-sites are Monkey Quest and Petpet Park. If you make an account on Neopets, you can use the same account information to log in to both of those sites, without making a new account. The same goes for the Monkey Quest and Petpet Park sites -- if someone makes an account on one of them, they can use it to log in to Neopets, which is why they aren't available to be made.

I never said it was a joke, but I don't think it's fair that one website can claim usernames for another.

From a company's perspective, it's not about fairness. It's simply easier to have one username database for the family of sites instead of one database for each site. Easier on IT and others involved, and better for server storage, etc.

It's a very logical choice on their part.

It's been over two years since this topic was made, but I'm still having the same issue. Any solutions yet?

I had it happen to me too, and I sent a ticket about it. Basically, you just have find a different username. It's not clearly stated in the sign up process, but you can't use that username, it's taken in the database. Even if you don't see it as an existing user on Neopets, it's still taken. That's all there is to it. You'll have to use a different username.
