Why can't I create a new account?

This is so annoying. I want to create a side account so I can have four more pets, but when I get to step three in the sign-up process (the part where you enter your e-mail) I get this error message when I submit my e-mail:

Oops! Please check.
An error occured, please try again.

I have been trying this for several weeks. I've tried signing up with two different e-mails, I've tried signing up on two different Internet browsers, I've even tried signing up on different computers and every attempt ends up with me getting that error message on step three. My queries on the Neoboards tell me that while some other users are experiencing this exact same problem, almost everybody is able to sign up without it occurring. Even more annoying is that that I have not gotten any response from TNT from the bug report I've sent them.

Does anyone know what I can do to get around this problem? I missed out on a lutari because of this stupid glitch and I'm getting real impatient trying to contact TNT about this issue.

From the sounds of it, it's a bug that TNT is trying to find the solution for which is why they haven't yet responded to your bug report. They've always been prompt with me about my bug reports and if they don't get to me immediately it's usually because they're investigating the issue.

So since you've done everything I could think of that should fix the problem (using a different email, browser, computer, etc. & asking around on the boards) I would just wait until TNT responds. There's not a whole lot regular users can do as far as answering these questions since we don't know what active bugs TNT is dealing with at the moment.

I hope this can be resolved soon, as missing out on lutaris isn't very fun!

I'm having this problem right now as well. What is worse about it is that each time I try to make an account, when I go back to try to make the same username it then says the name is taken. It's like it is making the account for me, but then once it has an error the account is caught in some sort of limbo. I've been trying for over a week now and each time the username I try becomes unusable. I know for a fact the usernames weren't already taken, as they are very unique... I would really like to make a new main account as mine was frozen (I unfortunately unknowingly traded for a stolen pet, and because of the 3 way trade they did it caused my account to be frozen and they got away with it somehow even though I had proof. -.- )

this is actually getting ridiculous... I've been trying for over a week now as well. I thought it might have been because I had been using all apple devices but obviously that's not the reason is everyone else is experiencing the same issue!

I'm having the same problem! I've been trying to make an account for over two weeks now! Hopefully this error gets fixed soon.

I find it curious that this thread was made way back in May 2011, yet the most recent posts here say that people haven't been able to sign up for weeks. Sounds like a glitch unrelated to the original issue, since I doubt you've been unable to sign up for a year and a half.

In those cases, there usually isn't a whole lot else to do but wait patiently. Glitches don't stick around forever.

I was just having this problem, but i figured it out. My browser was firefox and it kept giving me the error but when i tried it internet explorer it worked perfectly. Im guessing it was just an error with the browser. I hope this helps everyone!

Yeah, the only problem with that is every time you try to sign up with a new browser it won't allow you to use the same name you were going to register with before, saying it is already taken, which sucks, because I really want that name, as is.

Omg, this was posted in 2011??? Im having this issue now, with two EPIC usernames I tried, and now they are taken when they were not when I first tried, I feel like tearing my hair out. Those usernames meant a lot.

I've been having this issue since December '12. I quit trying to create a new account and figured the problem would have been resolved. But I still am unable to create a new account. I used to play Neopets but quit because I never played. Figured since I couldn't log into my old account that I would create a new one to check things out but no go. Tried everything, too. Diff browsers, different firewall settings, internet security, etc. No go on anything.
