"Specter's Flute"...me and my friend both cried at the ending. xD It's the only one which has managed to make me cry. The third one would have, if I hadn't encountered spoilers in advance. >>
And the new game comes out this year, or something.... But Thorn no has 3DS! And Thorn haz not many monies! D=
...Thorn may need to beg her father for a totally awesomesauce birthday present. xD

Finally got around to finishing Specter's Flute, and the solution was just as crazypants as the other ones. XDD I just love how this series is always, "This mysterious thing that's happening can't really be happening. Now, here's this other ridiculously implausible thing to explain it instead!" That would be like solving the mystery of cropcircles: "Aliens aren't drawing patterns in our cornfields. That's ridiculous. No, the truth is those patterns are made by Sasquatch's elaborate mating dance."
But I guess it helps keep you from guessing the solution, since it's pulled completely out of crazytown.

I did manage guess the first game, though. And my brother managed to guess everything about the third game. He must be crazy! He got that Celeste was Claire, that they weren't really in the future, that there was no evil Layton and no future Luke- although the last two were fairly easy to guess But I agree. Dese plot twists cray-cray.

Just finished Miracle Mask. It's probably the weakest plot so far, though. It left some pretty big plot holes, and this outside of its usual "here's a totally bonkers explanation! Just go with it!" reasonings. Like, huuuge plot holes they didn't even bother trying to cover up with reasons. For example: Henry looks for Randall for years. Years. He manages to even find the treasure room, and extract the treasure, so he obviously found the hole that Randall fell in. Well, apparently at the bottom of this hole is a river that leads out of the desert (because Randall falls in and gets swept out to a village). How does Henry not learn there's a river at the bottom of that hole?? Because if he learned there was a river there, why wouldn't he expand his search to downstream. You know, check in with villages along the river to see if they found any bodies washed ashore. There's no way Henry could have looked for THAT LONG and not figured out what happened to Randall!
Also How could the Masked Gentleman fly?? They never explained that ever. XD Then there were some characters I never really liked. Particularly Angela and Henry. Their personalities seemed a little off, as well as their motivations. They're just nearly as strong as some other supporting characters from other games. But oh well! XD I enjoyed the puzzles, anyway. ALSO THE RABBIT GAME OMG. It wasn't really a fun or challenging puzzle, but IT WAS THE CUTEST PET SO FAR. :3 And I'm glad I finished in time for the Azran Legacy game coming up.

Just started Layton vs Phoenix, because it just came out two days ago. And now I'm even more annoyed that it took like half a year after it got a Euro release! I assumed it was to use the NA voice actors, but Luke is still using his Euro actor! D8 So what the heck were they waiting for? -grump- It bothers me, because I've already spent 6 games with the other voice!
Also Maya's voice doesn't fit her either, but that's personal taste. (Actually, that's almost how I imagined Athena to talk like.)

I wonder what was up with the wait since they didn't do the American actors. At least I'm actually very used to the British Luke from the movie, so it doesn't jar me at all. Though, watching the movie for the first time with that voice was weird. XD

I experience mild bouts of schadenfreude whenever big-title games or movies come out in Europe before America because it lets them briefly understand what it's like over here a lot of the time At least the game is intact though? The European version of Spectre's Call removed the whole London Life RPG. <_<
I have such a backlog of games that I've taken to waiting years for prices to go down instead of buying new games right away, so I didn't even take advantage of the early release here. xD; I'm waiting for that and Bravely Default to drop in price, a bit more interested in BD though.

It's been a long time since I've seen the movie, but I thiiink I might've actually watched a fansub of the Japanese version of it.
I noticed they also didn't bother to change the word "defence" to "defense," so the Wright sections are niggling at me. XDDD Also the weird LEGO-like nature of Layton's 3D model (seems they had to shrink his head to try to make it more proportioned to Wright's more realistic proportions, but it's just so weiiird).
XD Don't get me wrong. The gameplay so far has been completely up my alley, mixing the two. It's just the visuals that are weird. I'm sure I'll get used to it, but these first few hours are bizarre as all getout.

I was attracted to the series mainly for the visuals in the first place, and I always preferred the 2D art and character portraits, so I never did completely get used to the 3D models myself; mixing the different styles of Layton and AA does seem like it'd be even more jarring. xD
And wow, they didn't even bother to fix the spelling or rename all the characters?? What lazy translators. xD /thinking of Spirit Tracks, where the same characters were given different names in US vs. EU versions, such as Byrne/Staven
(Yeah, Kristy, it was a shame. I recall that the reason given was it'd take too long to translate into all the major European languages, and would delay the release for longer than they wanted to make people wait.)

On the topic of PL vs AA PL vs AA totally has a Layton-style ending. XP Plot holes included!

(Particularly Ace Attorney. I -never- would've thought they'd make the transition so seamlessly) So it's even more of a shame that this series uses neither of them (I think it was produced before they were, though). X3

I doubt I should even post in this thread, because I've never played any of the games, but I enjoyed the trailer you shared enough to draw my Neopet Cleo dressed up as Lady Layton, because I just thought her outfit really fit Cleo. But hey, since it's coming out for Android, maybe I'll actually play it. I've never really been into video games enough to invest in a device just to play them, but I actually already own an Android device, so that's nice for me.
