Ever played the Professor Layton games? Enjoy the puzzles? Enjoy the plots? Enjoy both? Casual enthusiast?
Whatever the case, this club here is to discuss everything Layton. This can include the puzzles (like that one puzzle that trips you up), the characters, the plots, and anything upcoming for the Layton games. Whatever it may be, this is the place to discuss Layton-related stuff.
Oh, and if you have any puzzles, feel free to share them. It wouldn't be Layton without a puzzle of sorts. XD
As of this post, the first Layton trilogy has been released in America and Europe, though two other Layton games which start a prequel trilogy has been released in Japan. There's no word yet about when they'll be translated and released for America or Europe.
If you're interesting in Layton but don't yet have the games, I'd start with Curious Village.
If you want to join, say so, and I'll add your name to the first post. ^^

Haha, this club came into existence literally days after I got my first Layton game, after having admired its art style for years and finally given in. xD I can't say I've played enough of it yet to count as a fan at the moment, but I'm fairly sure that by the time I finish I will be. I have to say that the art style on its own blows me away. I'm playing Lost Future right now (I know, I should have started with the first game, but this was the one that was available at the store when my dad offered to buy one for me ). I figure I'll get the others used at some later date. Edit: Oh, apparently it's called Unwound Future in English. (My version of the game is the Dutch translation.) I've played it for about three hours so far, and am at the point where... ...you have to get into the Laytonmobile with those two keys. I was totally failing the medicine bottle puzzle immediately prior because for whatever reason I didn't realize you could draw diagonal lines across more than one square.

:3 I like these games a lot. I have all three, and I'm one puzzle away from completing every last puzzle in Curious Village. <3 I love the games, but their mysteries make no sense. XD Well, not that they don't make any sense, but they're SO ABSURD that there's absolutely no way you could figure it out on your own. Take the Unwound Future for example... Okay, so the mystery has 10-year time travel, right? How could they possibly have traveled 10 years into the future? Preposterous, the Professor says. Time travel isn't really possible.
Instead, some kid manages to build an entire city underneath London, complete with its VERY OWN SKY.
Oh sure. Time travel's absurd, but an underground city makes sense?
I mean, it'd be like if London was being attacked by T-rexes, and then Layton goes, "Dinosaurs in present-day London? Now, that's just silly. Those aren't real dinosaurs, they're actually puppets who are being run by ants that have mind-control devices in their tiny brains, and are being mind-controlled by this evil genius." Yeah, that makes WAY more sense. XD

Yes, I love Professor Layton! I've only played Curious Village so far, but I'd like to play the others when I can afford to get my hands on them.

Yeah, the third game has like... 3 different titles. XD; In Japan, it's "The Last Time Travel", in America it's "The Unwound Future", and everywhere else, it's "The Lost Future". It's confusing. XD; Between those three titles, I actually like "Lost Future" the best. But that's just me. *Shrugs.* Yeah, the medicine bottle puzzle took me forever too. I gave it another attempt today and it still took me a moment before I figured it out again. XD; :3 I like these games a lot. Yeah, that makes WAY more sense. XD I agree that the plots can be rather absurd at times, yes. XD; I usually figure out most of the rest of the stuff before the end except for one major thing. XD; But I've also learned to expect something improbable. Yeah, him being able to get his hands on something that massive underground is rather improbable. XD; It's not like he did it by himself, though. I attributed most of the stuff he was able to do with the amount of money he had, like paying others to build something. (Or kidnapping them into doing it.)
...How much money did he inherit, though, if you add everything up, from that giant machine to that painted ceiling to that casino? XDDD; Constance must've been the richest person in the world. But I still love the plots regardless. ^^ Unwound Future is probably my favorite of the trilogy.

I usually love the plots right up to the very end, when I'm going, "Whaaaat? That's what you chose for the solution?" It's like playing a whodunit and thinking the butler killed the master, but then it's revealed that the master was really a dog in a costume and just died of old dog-age. Still, I love the storyline up until the final act, so that's the majority of the game anyway. Oh, but speaking of the stories, I am rather fond of how child-friendly the stories are, while still not being childish. My favorite of the trio is Diabolical Box, both for the setting and for the blond, wavy-haired vampire Anton. (Not least because of his similarities to my own blonde wavy-haired vampire Arak. X3) And I think that ending was maybe the least absurd. Oh, and it can't be a Layton club without mentioning how excited I am for that Phoenix Wright crossover game. <3

That last puzzle. And...you know, it probably wasn't the VERY last, seeing as how there's always bonus puzzles and everything, but I'm talking about the one with the actual box with the riddle where you have to blow into the microphone to get it to open after turning the figures of the boy and girl a bit. The fact that I didn't have to look up a walkthrough or anything and that the wind in the riddle = microphone time was just awesome to me. It's like I had an epiphany for that one. AND IT RULED. I wish they'd incorporate more microphone stuff into the game like that, it's very clever. Thinking outside of the box indeed!

XD I play these games in public (that's why it's portable, after all), like in the waiting room at the dentist, or in line at McDonalds. I don't want to be the 24-yr-old looking like a total nutter, blowing into their DS or talking into it. XDDDDDDDDD (Come to think of it, that's probably the reason I never trained my dog in Nintendogs. )

But if it adds to the overall effect of the puzzle, then why not, right? :3 BECAUSE THE ONE I WAS TALKING ABOUT WAS LIKE JUST AWESOME.
