This is my first year participating in NaNo, and I'm driven insane with the questions rolling around in my head. So help?
1) Do we have to create an account on the website on the 1st of November or is it allowed to create it later? I ask this because I can't access the website, it's so bogged down.
2) What do we do if/when we finish the novel?
3) Do I keep the novel on my own computer, writing it in word? Or does it have to be done on their website?
4) What does NaNo mean in the real world? We write it electronically, but is it a competition? Do they pick winners?
If so, that'd be insane. Who would read through a bajillion(Question 5. Is this a real number?) novels and decide which one was the best.
Edit: Okay, this is the second board I've created in two weeks that's been moved. I'm sorry! And I'm really bad at finding the right place for things.

1: You can create an account at any time.
2: Whatever you want. xD I suggest being proud and feeling accomplished.
3: You keep it on your computer. Your novel never needs to touch the NaNo website unless you want to post a short bit as an excerpt, or for validation (putting it into a wordcounter on their site).
4: Winning is a state of mind. They don't read all the NaNos; as you said, it'd be crazy. It's not really a competition unless you want it to be; 50k is just a goal, and there are as many winners as hit that goal, or those who believe themselves winners are a lower wordcount for their success.
Good luck in NaNo! It's always fun seeing a new face in the insanity. ^_^
