Big thanks to Speck for doing a Script frenzy Nano! I've had this comic idea kicking around for a long time, and this might be just the kick in the pants I need to make it happen. Fur realz.

It's sort of a mess, so I'm a little nervous sharing.

Summary:

Becoming an adult means a lot of difficult changes. You have to get a job, pay bills, and turn into a giant rat at the slightest provocation. Oh wait, you mean that doesn't happen to everyone?

Sucks to be Emanuel, then.

Manny (as he is known to everyone but his mother) decides he is going to make the best of his situation. He's not a freakish monstrosity, he's a super hero! It worked for the Hulk, right? (No, not really.) Maybe if he works hard and gets into one of the big super hero leagues, he can help his Mom out of her financial troubles. Or maybe she's got an plan to help herself. Renting out that spare room sounds like a good idea.

Renting out the room to someone who isn't a nefarious super villain in disguise would be an even better idea, but you can't have everything.

It may look like I've fallen off the face of the Earth, but I am still chugging away. Here are some short blurbs and some physical descriptions.

Major Characters:

Emanuel Connor
The protagonist of our story! He's a guy straddling the edges of youth and adulthood, not quite sure what he wants to do with his life. Becoming a super hero seems like a way to make a difference, but also a path to respect and fame (+money). He has a lot of confidence, but not necessarily the skill or experience to back it up. This leads to him coming off as cocksure.

His mode of dress is sort of sporty; spiked hair and soccer jackets. His hair is black, and his skin is a sandy brown. He has a lean, tall build.

Rosa Connor (Emanuel's mom. Formerly Rosa Vargas.)
She's a hard-working paralegal, barely managing to stay afloat in the wake of her husband's hospitalization and subsequent death a few years ago. She thinks that renting out that guest bedroom could help pay off the medical bills, and maybe bring some life back into her somber household. She's very concerned for Manny, since he's been staying out late at night. She worries that he might be getting up to no good, that he needs a male role model.

She has a dark olive complexion, with chestnut hair. She doesn't have a lot of time to relax, so she is normally dressed in a skirted suit for work. She's pretty short, and has killer hips. XD

Dr. Erasmus Watt (he's the villian, y'all)

Technomancer, artificer, arcanist; whatever you'd like to call him, Dr. Watt is bad news. He has an uncanny control over machines, and they hold a strange sway over him...

He is not very physically imposing. He's average height, graying, near-sighted. His mode of dress is strangely outdated, even anachronistic. (Long suit jacket, vest, cravat, thin gold-rimmed pince nez)

Minor cast
The Badger- Tough, brainy leader of the city's famous Super League. He's going to be a hard one to impress. I heard he took a bullet for the Pope.

Yeah, this idea sounds AWESOME. The uncomfortable juxtapositions you've got going there are really going to be entertaining to watch as they play out against each other.

Still around, still alive. I'm plugging along slowly. The last five or so pages have been a lot of boring stage directions with short bursts of dialog. Nothing really excerptable, but it's moving and I'm happy.

An old, silly fanfic sorta character that I haven't even thought about in years wandered into the story. He's got a different physical description, but the same attitudes and actions. Welcome back Coolridge, I didn't even realize I missed you!
