*goofy grin* Thanks. x3 I figured I'd post the prologue just for the hell of it. xD Peace is a fragile thing, maintained by the delicate bonds of alliances, the prospect of mutual annihilation, and Sir Timothy Moore. The media told us it was the Chinese who made the first move, but no one really believes that story. No one really cares who struck the first blow. But I suppose it is worth telling how the world came to be as it is.
Nine years ago, in the year 2034, the United Kingdom of Great Britain launched its first interstellar weapons platform, an event which shocked the world, who had grossly underestimated the power of the British. Two years later, after many nations objected, the United Nations ordered the ship to be grounded until the matter could be resolved. When the crew attempted to carry out their orders, something went wrong with the ship’s engines.
To this day, no one knows what happened, only that the smoke and ash covered the whole of London and the entire south of England was flooded with radiation. Millions died in the initial blast, and more were added to their number daily as the deadly radiation claimed its victims.
The Prime Minister declared martial law and sent a plea to the world’s leaders for urgent help. The United States answered such a plea and pledged billions of dollars for relief, but in return, they demanded a military alliance which would make the United Kingdom little more than America’s puppet. The Prime Minister had no choice but to accept.
Tensions with China grew as the Sleeping Giant continued to amass troops and weapons. Huge advances in technology were made for the purpose of waging war in a more efficient manner. The Arms Race heated up, and as each side felt the tension growing, so they sought allies in their plight. From this, the Sino-Russian alliance was born, a union that would bring the world to its knees.
When the first bombs dropped on US soil, the retaliation shocked everyone. The Chinese called on their Russian allies, who called on their Baltic vassals. The Americans called on the British who called on the commonwealth. They called on us, the tattooed warrior tribes from the islands in the cold south, from the Land of the Long White Cloud. We were summoned, and like a lapdog to his mistress, we made ourselves ready.
On December 12th, 2041, the Chinese Screamers flew over every major city in our fair land. The bombarded us from above, and when we were defeated, they left a token force to guard us and departed to the “real” war. Similar attacks were executed in other commonwealth countries who had pledged their support to Mother England and her Big Boss, America. The purpose was to eliminate the possibility of reinforcements, but once the deed was done, no one really cared about us.
They left to fight a war that seemed, to us, like a dream. Our war, our struggle … that is reality.
And so our tale begins. At the end of the world.

Ohmygoodness when I saw that you were going D: halfway through November and that you didn't have a wordcount posted I thought that mean you had something like 500 words done. I had no idea you'd gotten this far. xD Good job. =D

Well ... actually that was sorta true. Not quite as dire as 500 words, but considering I started on the 12th and I've been busy for quite a few days ... I'm insanely proud of myself, so thank you all. ^_____________^
