Well, I suppose there's the obvious ones like it kills you or kills you slowly over time, or makes you really unlucky.

I guess it depends on if you want it to be something that would be incredibly obvious as soon as the amulet is put on, or if it takes a while before you'd really notice anything.

Maybe it messes with your personality, or makes you randomly angry or stupid at the worst possible times?

Hmm...maybe the amulet saps away their personality until they are left a mere old shell of themselves? Or it could slowly eat away at their memories, or better yet replace them with fake ones?

Or drive them insane because they find out that they're a character in a NaNo? xD *brick'd*

Similar to Celestials, but he starts to confuse the people in his life, thinking family are enemies and evil people his friend

Jo - Huh. xD I had a mildly similar thing in mind to happen to one of my characters. Great minds think alike?

And Zy - I know that I am late! =D Um, but wouldn't it be cool if the amulet did something to magic? Like, mucked around with it, or made it difficult to control, or made it seem like you had magic that you didn't, or make your existing magic act strangely. You have such a cool genetic-magic system; it'd be fun to take advantage of that, and magic run amok is fairly simple to write the effects of but those effects can be far-ranging, and your culture's used to having things-that-let-them-use-magic, aren't they? So people might not automatically know how to deal with one which uses it odd.

... But this is all because I have fun writing about crazyrandommagichappenstances and probably doesn't fit your story terribly well. xD Feel free to disregard.

The new user stats are pretty nifty-looking, though it'll probably be more convenient once the initial lag wears down. XD

Agreed. The streak stat will be a huge motivator, not only to keep writing but to continue to update the word count.

Got ahead of my quota on the first day! Was not expecting that at all.

The streak stat monitors how many successful (or unsuccessful) days you have in a row. You can see it on the stats tab of a user's profile page.

I think it's a cool thing, but I highly doubt I'll be able to keep up a monthlong streak, as nice as that'd be. I don't know if I'll even have internet, let alone writing time this weekend. xP

The streak stat is a fine example of one disadvantage I have of doing a script frenzy instead of actual NaNo. >.>

As I currently write this, I only have one third of a page written. I need to pick up the slack, gosh darn it.

Rikku, you're not late! I'm always open to suggestions. Until I actually get to explaining the amulet's powers, and that's, like, at least three days' writing away. XD And that's a really snazzy idea! And a more lighthearted one, which I think is what I'm going for with the story anyway. =D
