Super Ecksdee Panic is a small project I started for NTWF's 8th Anniversary, to see if I could make a full-fledged game within the course of a single month. It's been a long time since I actually finished a game, so I figured that this would be a refreshing break from my more ambitious projects. ^_^ Anyway, the premise of the game is simple. Killix and friends are having a normal day, when suddenly a strange curse hits them, making them spontaneously transform into chibis unless they eat magical eggs. As Killix, you must knock some sense into your companions and get them to help you find the source of the problem. UPDATE: Version 0.97 is now available. This adds a password for the final level if you collect all six puzzle pieces, as well as fixing a couple other bugs. Simply download the game again to get the new version. ^_^ Each level in the game has a golden puzzle piece hidden somewhere. Each piece represents a different portion of the NTWF Birthday Puzzle. Once you collect a piece and complete the level, the corresponding section of the NTWF puzzle will be revealed to you.
Once you see the NTWF puzzle, here's what you have to do in order to extract it from the game:
- If you are playing the game with double screen size, press the 1 key to shrink it down to normal.
- Press the Print Screen/PRTSC button on your keyboard. It's usually at the top.
- Open a program like MS Paint, then go to the Edit menu and select Paste from the menu. You should see a picture of your computer screen from the moment that you pressed Print Screen.
- Cut out the puzzle piece from the screenshot and add it to the main NTWF Birthday Puzzle. ^_^
Walk: Left or right arrow keys Jump: Z (hold down to jump higher) Wepon: X Aim wepon: Up or down arrow keys (only works with certain types of wepon) Enter doors/flip switches: Up arrow Pause game: Enter Change screen size: 1 key Quit game: Esc
The controls can be adjusted by selecting OPTION from the title page.
Killix begins each level in Chibi form. As a chibi, you can only run and jump, and you cannot enter closed doors. You must find the magical blue egg in the level that will transform you into Human Killix.
Once you are human, you must collect 100 droplets scattered around the level and deposit them in the beaker next to the Big Red Boss Door. Make sure that you deposit your droplets as often as possible! If you die, you lose all of the droplets you're carrying, but you get to keep half of the droplets that were deposited in the beaker.
Once the beaker is completely full, the Big Red Boss Door will open, allowing you to duel one of Killix's paranoid buddies and knock some sense into them. Once they are defeated, you will progress to the next level.
Droplet: Collect 100 of these to access the level's boss. Destroying a level's miniboss will make 25 droplets appear, and some normal enemies create them too after being defeated.
Wepon: These take the form of flashing squares. Certain types of wepon allow you to defeat enemies more easily or access new areas of the level. You can only carry one wepon at a time, so you'll drop your previous wepon if you collect a new one.
Brain Bleach: Restores half of your sanity.
Extra Man: Gives you another chance in case you die. If you lose all of your mans, you have to restart the level from the beginning in Chibi form.
Puzzle Piece: There's one of these in each stage. If you collect all 6 of them, the final level will become fully playable and you'll be able to fight the last boss of the game.
- If you use a password to skip to a certain stage, keep in mind that puzzle pieces from previous stages will NOT be collected for you. If you intend to collect all of the puzzle pieces, you must play the game from the very beginning.
- Every boss in the game is weak to a specific type of wepon. This wepon will inflict double damage on them, so if you're having trouble, try experimenting to find out what their weakness is!
- There is a super-secret powerup hidden somewhere in the game. It's epic. Like, really epic. But it's hidden pretty well. Can you find it?
- Have fun! ^_^

Is there something wrong with the second level? I can't do anything but kill the toasters, as I can't jump high enough to get the egg. o.o

No, there's nothing wrong with level 2. XD
There is something you have to do to get the egg.

I should ask now, because I know someone's bound to be wondering... what about NTWFers with Macs? ^^; Is there any way for them to complete the birthday puzzle without having to buy an emulator?

XD; I used to work solely with Windows emulators for everything, and it was... unpleasant. hurr hurr Virtual PC lagIt also depends on how fast the computer itself is.

Isn't there some alternate puzzle we could do for this piece? My computer crashes just trying to run a Flash game (or even a Flash video), so...

I've heard that CrossOver has no lag, but I've never used a Windows emulator before, so I don't know how true that is. (and yes, obviously if your Mac is centuries old, it's going to lag.) I'm not sure if Strife can make a Mac version of the game, but we can wait to see what he has to comment. Those were all just things I got when I did a quick google search, by the way. XD Isn't there some alternate puzzle we could do for this piece? My computer crashes just trying to run a Flash game (or even a Flash video), so... There isn't one at the moment. :/ Have you attempted to run it yet? It's worth a try. It isn't a particularily large or flashy game. I'll have to see what I can do for people who can't run this game for whatever reason. In the meantime, I suggest working on the other mini-puzzles.

Virtual Box and Boot Camp both require you to buy a Windows OS. Cross Over doesn't use a Windows OS, but it's more iffy with compatibility. I'll also note that those three only work on Intel Macs I don't even know about Wine Bottler.

It's ancient, the first computer I ever owned. I can't afford a better one.

When I typed in that response, she was the most recent poster on the thread. My reply to you was edited in after I posted.)

I should ask now, because I know someone's bound to be wondering... what about NTWFers with Macs? ^^; Is there any way for them to complete the birthday puzzle without having to buy an emulator? ...I did not think this through. xD; Mac computers can play flash games, right? I could possibly convert the game to flash, but I'd have to shell out some moneys for MMF2's flash exporter. Buuut in any case, we should probably think of an alternate way to obtain the six puzzle pieces in the game, yes. We'll keep you guys posted. xDDDDDDD Strife ... this is epic! Thanks, Sarny! ^__^
