Daisy, or Gina as she is sometimes called, becomes very stressed as her life as her fake big sister, Gina, and as her self, Daisy, on an online forum.

Daisy bit her lip as she logged in. She was 11, she shouldn’t be going there for another two years. Daisy let her body relax as she clicked the forum button, leading to the place where she could be free. She clicked on the general chat board and went to the random talk thread. Quickly and quietly, she typed ‘Hi, Guys’ and switched to her cover screen, which was Fan Fiction.
“Di, what are you doing? Are you on that site again?” Topher asked as he walked into the room, his bright red backpack digging into his shoulder. Daisy laughed. “Hey, Chrissy, and what site? You mean Fan Fiction?” she asked calmly, using the nickname nine and a half year old Christopher hated, the one that he had always hated, no matter who called him that. “No, that weird site I see you on when you think nobody’s looking, and DO NOT CALL ME CHRISSY!” Topher said, his usually soft voice growing louder with each stressed word.
“Where did you get that thing from?”Daisy asked curiously, pointing at something slimy and gray in Topher’s tanned hands. “That’s my new pet snake, Slithers Mc. Doo. Isn’t he SO COOL?”Topher said happily. “He’s wonderful. Go show him to Mom, okay kid?” She sighed deeply and sadly as he left the room. That was close, Daisy thought warily.
She turned to her computer screen once again, biting her lip. ‘Hey, Gina’ was written all over the page. Daisy smiled. She had some friends, but recently they had been ignoring her. It was probably because she was the oldest in fifth grade. She had been held back one year. ‘Hey Alice, Renny, Jovi, Blouh, and Hopa Mana. How are you guys?’ Daisy wrote back, and almost immediately Jovi replied, ’Oh, I’m GREAT, Gi, my life is wonderful, full of sunshiny rainbows! How are you?’ Daisy laughed out loud. Jovi was a huge hippie, born as Jovianna Rose Sunshine. Daisy wasn’t that happy. ‘My life is horrible, Jov, I’m so lonely over here with no siblings. I HATE, ABSOLOUTELY DESPISE, being thirteen sometimes...’
“Dai, what’s that site you have up? You know, that orangey one with the lavender border?” Daisy jumped, frightened. Her skinny, burned half-sister, Grace Mariah, who is 25, had come upstairs, a extremely rare and odd occurrence in the Clarke-Smith household. Grace usually came upstairs when she wanted money. She even had a REFRIGERATOR in her room! Daisy quickly changed the screen back to Fan Fiction, gulping for breath, her already really wide leaf green eyes wider than ever. “That’s..... um.... nothing, nothing at all?” she muttered unconvincingly in a scared, choked voice. Grace’s glasses fogged up as her gaze narrowed, a sign that she was angry. Daisy sunk low into her chair as Grace came over.
“MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM! GET OVER HERE NOOOOOOOW!” Grace yelled. Startled, their mom, Amma, ran into the room and glared at everyone. “What, Grace Mariah?” Amma asked, mad at being woken up from her afternoon nap, but also scared and begging for a good explanation for this behavior. “Daisy’s been breaking the rules again! She’s been doing stuff on the computer that she’s not supposed to be doing!” Grace said, tattling on her sister as she sometimes does, and pointed at the computer furiously. “Daisy. I’ve warned you a lot not to do that! Let me see. Go away, girls, go talk to Topher if you need to. God knows he needs some company,” Amma said, frowning slightly, and sat down at the computer and clicked the closed tab leading to Daisy’s only sanctuary.
About two months later, it was July in Daisy’s small Connecticut town. It was a month until her birthday, even though ‘Gina’’s birthday was in April. The sun was shining, and Daisy was finally allowed back on the computer. She went to her safe haven to find Amy, Jernath, and Kindleflare on. ‘Hi, guys, I’m back!’ she posted, happy to find her friends. Amy, Jernath and Kindleflare’s daughter, was her age. ‘Hi, Gina!’ was Amy’s post, which she imagined as an excited squee. Suddenly, Amy’s year old daughter, Cheryl, figured out how to make her own account and got on, shocking everyone, including her father / grandfather, Jerny. ‘Hiiiiiiiiii, Gna!’ Cheryl posted, obviously with the help of Amy, Jerny, and Kindle. ‘OMG. NO WAI. MY LITTUL CHEErY PIE IS ON.’ Daisy posted, squeeing out loud. ‘*shoots Gina* She is NOT a cherry pie! Or a cheery pie! She is a mouse-brown haired, blue eyed DEMON!’ posted Amy, who wasn’t serious at all, she was joking with the people online.
Daisy looked up, changing her page to Fan Fiction as she heard footsteps in the hallway. “HI!”she screamed into the air. “Daisy! Don’t SCARE ME LIKE THAT!” Topher yelled. Daisy brushed her light red hair over her shoulder. “Sorry,” she muttered, and went back to her sanctuary. She noticed that Kit had logged in. He knew Jerny, Kindle, Amy, and Cheryl in real life, and Kit and another person on there, Crystal, were planning a baby, due next spring. An ACCIDENTAL, not on purpose, crazies, baby. ‘Hi, Kit! Oh, sorry, I have to go now, BYE!’ she typed, and logged off.
Daisy ran outside to see black clad people fall from the sky. “NINJAS!” she screamed as Topher and Grace ran up next to her. “AHOY!”someone yelled. “PIRATES!” Topher yelled, scared to death. “Where did they COME FROM?”muttered Grace. The ninja’s leader pulled out a grenade. “Sayonara!” he yelled, and pulled the pin, throwing it at the pirates.
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM! BOOM BOOM BOOOM BOOM BOOOOOOM! went the explosion. Grace had pulled Daisy and Topher away quickly. Once the smoke cleared, Daisy saw that the ninjas had disappeared. She ran up to her house. It was undamaged except for a little patch of fire in the front yard. Grace grabbed the hose and sprayed it out.
“Where did they COME FROM?”Amma asked, confused and scared.. “I don’t know, but don’t worry, I’m a doctor,” Topher said, lying, but trying to lighten the atmosphere. “Oh, silly Topher! I’m a lawyer!” Daisy said, and ran inside to tell her friends. ‘Guys. Guess what! Pirates and ninjas attacked each other outside of my house! How cool is that?’
Daisy walked down the road, staring at the graffiti on the buildings. One said, ’CHET FLASH WUZ HERE!’ and another said, ‘DREW + CANDY FOREVER!’ She laughed at the second one. She bet that Drew and Candy, whoever they were, had broken up, and that graffiti didn’t mean anything. One piece caught her eye. DAISY + NICKEH = LOVE. Daisy, curious, wondered who the heck Nickeh was. She waved to her friend, Sammy Claire Cysso, who was walking down the street with another friend, Betty, who had her pet ferrets, Syd, Lola, Keiki, and Ming with her. “SAMMY!” she screamed. ”SO, HAVE YOU GONE ON LATELY?” Daisy was very curious. “YEAH! I HEARD AMNEI IS BACK! SO IS FENNY!” screamed Sammy, with Betty looking at them curiously, her ferrets wrestling in their carrying case. “Hey! Black is the new taco!”she said, laughing.
“THAT’S GREAT!”Daisy yelled. Betty was wearing all black. “WHERE DID THOSE NINJAS COME FROM? OH, I HAVE TO GO, BYE!”she screamed, hoping her friends knew of the ninjas. Daisy walked on, humming a song, called TiK ToK, by Ke$ha. She loved that song, couldn’t get enough of it if she tried. It was really addicting, but her friends hated it. She started singing when they were out of earshot. “Wake up in the morning feeling like P Diddy. Put my glasses on, I’m out the door – I’m gonna hit this city.
Before I leave, brush my teeth with a bottle of Jack, Cause when I leave for the night, I ain’t coming back.” Daisy sang, then started humming the song, which is cheery, again. She ran right home and turned it on, dancing for a moment, then going straight to the computer. “So, so, so, so, soooo AWESOME!” Daisy said, laughing, and got right on the computer, smiling. ‘Hey, guys, how are you doing?’ she posted, and then started reading the fan fiction she loved so much.
‘Oh, hi Gina. I’m already thinking about what to do for my NaNoWriMo.’ posted Amy. ‘Hi Amy! What’s a NaNoWriMo?’ asked Daisy, trying not to be confused. ‘Oh, you don’t know? It’s a writing thing. You write and try to get to 50,000 words. It’s for 30 days, in all of November.’ Kindleflare posted, coming on the forum. ‘November?! That’s months away!’ Daisy posted. ‘It never hurts to be prepared. Too bad I have to wait till November to start writing. I hope I can do it in time!’ Amy posted, and Daisy knew she wanted to do NaNoWriMo in a few years.
It was Daisy’s birthday. Her twelfth birthday, to be exact. August 5th, the sun was shining, the wind was still, it wasn’t freezing or burning, it was perfect. Just perfect. A rainbow was in the sky, even though it hadn’t rained at all that day. The music, oh the great music, was playing in her back yard. There were her friends, having a great time, dancing, prank calling, running into the woods to get the soccer ball. Then, there was Daisy, sitting at a table. Alternating between staring at her friends and typing on the computer. What should she say to them? ‘Oh, yeah, it’s my birthday party about nine months early, so I have to go.....’? She couldn’t say that. That would be horrible. Plus, she wanted them at her party. She sighed, upset, closed the computer, and ran to play soccer with her friends.
Daisy ran to the computer, laughing, wishing she could do a flip right there and then. It was still her birthday, and it was late at night, and she was hyper. She called her friend Betty. “Betts! Guess what! I’m hyyyyyypeeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrr!”Daisy squealed into the phone. “That’s great, Daisy, but why did you call me at midnight?” Betty whispered, put her hand over the phone so Daisy couldn’t hear, and then sighed quietly. Daisy went to the computer. ‘Hi, guys, I’m back.’ she posted. ‘Oh, hello! What’s your name? I’m Candy.’ someone posted, who was apparently Candy. ‘Oh, hi Candy, I’m Gina. I’m 13.’ Daisy posted. ‘Gina. That’s a great name! I’m 13, too. I have a boyfriend. His name is Drew.’ Candy said, and Daisy stared for a second, before smiling. ‘PM me, Candy, I have something to ask you.’ Daisy posted, and almost immediately she got a PM from Candy. ‘What did you want to ask me?’ Candy asked. ‘Do you live in Connecticut?’ Daisy asked. She waited for an answer from Candy. ‘In real life, yeah. On the computer I live in Cute City. The buildings are made out of giant legos, and the trees are made of cotton candy. The streets are fruit roll ups, and there is love and joy everywhere!’ Candy wrote. ‘Oh, my god. I live in Connecticut, too! Did one of you write Candy+Drew forever on a building?’ Daisy stared at the screen. ‘Oh, that must be Drew. I might ask him.... Oh, he says he didn’t do that. Too bad. *frowns*’ Candy sent. ‘Oh, um. How did you get here?’Daisy sent off to Candy. ‘Amy is my friend from school. She told me about it.’
Daisy stared, and realized Betty had hung up. She hung up, too. ‘Are you saying that Amy lives here? In Connecticut?’ she replied. ‘Exactly! Absolutely positively true stuff!’Candy replied, flipping her dirty blonde hair over her shoulder, even though she knew Daisy couldn’t see her. ‘What town?’ she sent back, as Amma came into the room. “Oh, sweetie, Grandpa died, and you got 50,000 dollars and two llamas,” she said. “Oh, NO! Wait. Two llamas? What are they named?”Daisy asked. “Zap and Zoom, apparently,” Amma said. “Oh, that’s horrible. I wish that hadn’t happened. Plus, who the heck names their llamas Zap and Zoom?” Daisy muttered, and turned to the computer, reading her fan fiction until her mom left.
‘Oh, I live in W----------! Where do you live?’Candy wrote. ‘Oh, I live there too! Sorry I left before. My grandfather died.’ Daisy typed. ‘That’s great! I wonder if you go to my school, in my class. What grade are you in?’ Candy typed. ‘Oh, I’m in 7th grade.’ Daisy wrote. ‘7th grade? I’m in 7th.too. Stayed back?’Candy asked. ‘Yeah. You, too?’ Daisy wrote. ‘Absolutely. I hate it. So, your grandfather died? I’m so sorry.’ Candy sent over. ‘It’s okay. I got 50,000 dollars and two llamas named Zap and Zoom.’ Daisy replied. ‘Well, I have to go now. Bye!’Candy wrote, and logged off.
Daisy was dancing. It was the middle of August, around the 19th. Dimitrio had braided flowers into her hair, and now they were enjoying themselves, spinning and twirling on the dance floor. There was no special reason, Anna had just wanted to hold a dance. Daisy spun and twirled, her tie-dyed skirt fluttering. The beautiful, soft, silky red rose buds kept her hair in place as she danced. Dimitrio, his black hair messed up, held onto her when she wasn’t spinning. He was having fun, his brownie colored eyes smiling. Suddenly, he stopped. She stopped, too, and they stood, staring at each other, before Dimitrio kissed her. Daisy blushed, and kissed him back.
“Woah,” Anna whispered, before smiling and clapping. The others joined in, some pointing and laughing. Dimitrio and Daisy blushed redder and redder until they finally left the room and sat on the floor, talking and occasionally kissing. Dimitrio, who was the second oldest in her class, was a really nice guy. She really liked him. He, apparently, really liked her. Red-blonde blended with black as they kissed one last time then went back to Anna’s party. They started to dance again, Daisy’s already windblown skirt fluttering, Dimitrio’s arms around her waist. Suddenly, the music changed, and a song came on. ‘Doo doo, yeah-eah-eah-eaaah!’ came a voice. “The CARAMELLDANSEN!” Daisy screamed. Dimitrio stood there, confused, and then saw the ring of people dancing, and joined in, feeling absurd and embarrassed.
Suddenly, there was a cry of laughter. “OH MY GOD, A PINK FLAMINGO! IT MUST BE, LIKE, SEVEN FEET TALL OR SOMETHING!” Daisy cried out, then fell over, laughing. Anna rushed, pulled her up, and the two girls ran to pet the Flamingo. It moved, and Daisy ran behind Dimitrio. “Let’s take it through the streets of Manhattan!” Anna cried, and moved toward the door. “But we live in Connecticut!”Daisy said, and grabbed the flamingo. “MOOOM, CAN YOU TAKE US TO MANHATTAN?”Anna screamed. “JUST YOU, DAISY, DIMITRIO, AND SOMEONE ELSE!” Anna’s mom cried. “OKAY! HOW ABOUT A FLAMINGO?” Anna yelled. “SURE, JUST MAKE SURE IT DOESN’T POOP IN THE CAR!” Anna’s mom yelled, and started to search for her keys.
Two phone calls, one search for keys, and one looong car ride later, Anna, Anna’s mom, Daisy, Dimitrio, and the pink flamingo, named Falcon, were in Manhattan. They jumped out of the car and ran through the streets, laughing, the pink flamingo, Falcon, ahead by a few steps. Suddenly, Dimitrio kicked him or her or it over. “Why did you do that?” Daisy asked. Suddenly, a man about 50 years old walked up and grabbed Anna by the arm, pulling her away. “Anna!”Daisy screamed, and started after them, but Dimitrio held her back, saying, “Do you want to be taken, too?” Daisy shook her head but screamed after them, “COME BACK HERE WITH MY FRIEND, YOU BIG BULLY!”
Dimitrio grabbed his cell phone and called the police. “Help! Help! My girlfriend’s best friend was just taken off the street, we’re on the corner of 1st Street and 2nd street in Manhattan! Please come, help, he’s a 50 ish year old man in a striped shirt and corduroy pants, please come, help!” he screamed into the phone. “We’re on our way, please try to delay him,” the operator said in her monotone voice. Daisy ran ahead and grabbed Anna’s other arm, pulling her. The man grabbed Daisy’s arm, and she screamed,”DIMITRIO!!! HELP ME!” and struggled as the cop car pulled up. “Excuse me, Mister, but you’re coming with us,” the officer, we’ll just call him Officer Tom Mc Donald, said, and grabbed the man’s shoulder. “Release the girls now or face more charges than you already face,” Officer Tom said, glaring at the man. “No. They are my wives now,” the man said in a deep voice. “We’re ELEVEN! We’re minors! This is pedophilia. This has to be illegal!”Daisy screamed as Anna’s eyes widened in shock. Dimitrio ran up. “Leave them alone!”he screamed, tugging on their arms. “You are right, little girl, it is illegal, and this man will face large charges, and he will be going to jail for abduction. Now, man, let go of the girls, they probably want to go home,” Officer Mc Donald said in a calm voice. “No. I will not!” the man screamed. “Help. Please?”Anna sobbed. Tom Mc Donald grabbed his tazer. He zapped the man. “Girls, go home please, this man won’t be bothering you and more,” Tom Mc Donald said, wrenching the shocked man’s hands from the girl’s arms. “Thank you!”Daisy and Anna said, grabbed Dimitrio’s arms, and ran to Anna’s mom’s car, which was parked at a random store.
“Mom! Mom! We almost got abducted!”Anna screamed. Anna’s mom jumped out of the car. “Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?” Anna’s mom yelled. “It’s true!”Daisy said, her face bright red from all the running. “Okay, I’m taking you children home. Please don’t tell your parents,” Anna’s mom said, shocked. They climbed in the car, and then they turned on the radio. The announcer said, ”It’s okay, I’m a doctor!” in a loud voice. Daisy’s eyes widened. “That’s Topher!” Daisy said, laughing. “Now, I’m going to play Dirty Little Secret by The All American Rejects. This is dedicated to my sisters, Daisy and Grace,” Topher said on the radio.
“Let me know that I've done wrong,When I've known this all along,I go around a time or two, Just to waste my time with you. When we live such fragile lives, It's the best way we survive, I go around a time or two, Just to waste my time with you,” The Song sang. “Wooow, that’s weird,” Daisy said. “What is that about?” Anna said, laughing, and turned it up. “TELL ME ALL THAT YOU’VE RUN AWAY, FIND OUT GAMES YOU DON’T WANT TO PLAY!” Daisy and Anna sang loudly, then burst out laughing while Dimitrio hummed the song. They then turned off the radio, laughing, and they stared out the window for a while until they got home.
‘Hi , guys! I’m back, and I was almost abducted today!’ Daisy posted on the internet. ‘Oh, Gina! How did you escape?‘ posted Kindle, who was alone, Jerny and Amy weren’t on at the moment, and Cheryl wasn’t there, either. 'Well, I know for a fact that he was trying to abduct me, and I need to know why.' Daisy posted in reply before sighing and logging off. "TOPHER!"Daisy yelled. "What?" Topher ran into the room. "Well, I know that you mentioned me on the radio, silly boy. You're not a doctor!"Daisy said, laughing, and she then ran into the other room and called Anna.
"Anna! My parents don't know. So, what did your mom say?" Daisy said into the phone. "Oh, she was a little scared, but she let me off the hook. Thank god," Anna said, and laughed a little. "Oh, okay. Well, hopefully my parents will never, ever, ever find out. Ever,"said Daisy, and then heard Anna scream at her mom, then say,"Oh, Dais, I have to go, sorry." Daisy hung up, then ran to the other room, and then skipped to the candy store, bought a chocolate bar, and ran outside to eat it, the August sun beating down on her hair. It was around August 21st by then, and she wished her thirteenth birthday would come tomorrow, although it came next year. She gulped it down, and then ran away, and sighed. "Woow, I hate my life sometimes," Daisy said to the air. "Well, I hate my life, too!" Sammy said, running out of the store nearby. "Oh, hi Sammy. I think your life is better than mine," Daisy said. "Oh, that's untrue, your life is way better than mine!" said Sammy, her hair flipping over her shoulder as she laughed. "A B C D E F G," Daisy started to sing, then Sammy covered her mouth. "That's unfair!" Daisy said, her voice muffled, and she licked Sammy's hand. "Eeewwwww! Daisy! That's disgusting, you little weirdo!" Sammy squealed. "Oh, I know. But, of course, this is me you're talking about, not some sanitary little goody two shoes!" Daisy laughed. "Oh, Dais, you are silly," Sammy said, and as Daisy ran down the street, Sammy followed her, laughing, and sang TiK ToK. "Oh- o- oh- o- oh, Oh- o- oh- o- oh!" Sammy sang, and tripped over a rock, laughing, and then scraped her face.
"Sammy! Are you okay?" Daisy screamed, and ran to help her friend up from the middle of the street. "Oh, I'm alright, I'm alright! Let's keep running!" Sammy said, laughing, and ran. Daisy chased after her. "UNFAIR!" she screamed, and caught up. Sammy rolled her eyes and stopped on a bench, gasping for breath. "Good, I needed to stop!" Daisy said, panting like a dog in 100 Degree Fahrenheit heat. "Oh, you're crazy, you didn't need to stop!" Sammy said, breathing deeply. "Let's go to your house," Daisy said, and Sammy nodded. "I was about to say 'Let's go to my house', but you said it before me," Sammy said, and they ran to Sammy's house, laughing, and they danced to some funny music and watched the wide screen television until about six o clock, when Daisy had to go home for dinner. "Aw! But I wanted to stay!" Daisy complained to her mother when she got into the car. "Too bad, kiddo, you're only eleven!" Amma said, and turned on the radio to drown out Daisy's protests. "Shut up!" Amma screamed after a while. "Fine, fine, don't be so pushy," Daisy muttered, annoyed, and ran into the house, eating some Twizzlers and then ran to the computer, rolling her eyes at Amma's thin back.
'I don't want to stay here anymore,' Daisy posted. 'Well, it's your home, you have to stay!' Amy wrote. Daisy rolled her eyes, upset. ‘No, I really don’t,’ posted Daisy.
