Ohwowhaven'tloggedininagoodwhile. x_O *blows dust off account*
.. what do you mean, it's NaNo time again already?! Sheesh, the year goes waaay too fast. Seriously.
Ideas. Ideas. I'll come back to this later. ^_^
The idea:
The Visionkeeper and the Power is just a story, right? Something straight out of a superhero-comic. Two kids endowed with special powers to help save the world (or just the country) in a time of crisis...
In a future time, a different world (where there are cool technological gadgets we don't have yet and wish we did):
Cree is sixteen and has just won a full scholarship to the prestigious Engleheim Academy, a chance many would die for, when a group of people show up at her house and inform her that she is the Visionkeeper, the other half to a world-saving duo. The Visionkeeper, while having the cooler name, is also the more boring half, and while her partner is endowed with superhuman strength and receives intensely dangerous missions, Cree will be expected to sit around in a maximum security building and wait to have hallucinations. Cree has worked her whole life to get into the academy, and she’s not about to give it up easily. Why should everyone else get to have all the fun?
Unfortunately, the world is not as calm as it seems, and there’s a reason why the Duo has been called into existence. In a tangle of secrecy and lies, covert operations and undercover agents, it’s difficult to figure out the truth, save the world, not alienate your friends, and still follow your dreams, all of which Cree intends to do. Fortunately, she’s not without help: her irritating partner Simon, her best friend Sam, some really weird people she meets along the way, a stolen car, and two extremely disgruntled cats. Not to mention grilled cheese.
This is a story of secret organizations and plots to take over the world. It’s a story of heroics, friendships, broken hearts, conquered fears, life-long dreams, and cats. It’s a story of right and wrong, good and evil, and a really cool car. And did we mention grilled cheese?
I think it's going to be vaguely sci-fi, but really mostly fantasy since apparently that's a genre I can't escape from. Hey, who's complaining? =D
[spoiler=The Cast:]
Cree – officially Lucretia Anne Wilson, thanks to her loving if somewhat naming-challenged parents, Cree is sixteen and has one dream: Get into the Aaron Engleheim Academy of Aeronautics and become a pilot of a spacecraft. Unlike most of her peers, Cree has known what she wants to do since she was a little kid, and she’s been working ever since to get there. Competitive and highly-driven, with a secret fear of failing and the determination to overcome all obstacles, be they a habit of eating peanut butter straight out of the jar or a fear of heights, Cree has absolutely no wish to be the Visionkeeper. Having her life of exploration and danger in outer-space reduced to sitting around waiting to have hallucinations is not high on her list of things to do. Fortunately, Cree knows how to get things done, and she’s not going to let something so puny as a government organization determined to kidnap her for their own mysterious purposes stand in her way.
Sam – Cree’s best friend, Sam is somewhat erratic and dreamy, and tends to romanticize about odd things. She’s in love with someone who lived a hundred years ago, and firmly believes that nothing, not even all those years, will keep them apart. As soon as she finds out how to time-travel. Artistically-gifted, Sam carries her sketchbook, charcoals, and camera everywhere with her.
Simon – Cree’s partner, and the one gifted with apparent superpowers to aid in his Destiny. Whatever that is. Small and stoop-shouldered, with a slight stutter that appears when he’s nervous and a tendency to blink rapidly, all Simon’s ever wanted to do is get into a good university and find a job as a newspaper editor. Bookish and glasses-bound for his nearsightedness, Simon far prefers his heroics in books. No one, least of all Simon, thinks he’s up to the job.
Jory – a student at the academy, the daughter of a multi-billionaire, and apparently a spoiled brat, Jory’s a little more than she seems. Even with money, you can learn to be smart and resourceful, and Jory has it all. Money, brains, and a secret yearning to make something of herself and show the world she isn’t just her father’s spoiled daughter.
Lulu Heartstring – a sixty-something year-old eccentric former stunt-pilot, Lulu has a flair for the dramatic and a natural tendency to latch on to dangerous and illegal operations. A free agent and a part-time actress now that she’s retired, saving the world seems like a fine thing to do on a boring Sunday afternoon.
Armin – Simon’s older brother, a bit of a prat and stuck-up, is currently going to law school. Armin might be high-and-mighty, but he’s not going to let his little brother go off alone.
Vega Richardson – the richest woman in the world and the superpower behind Mecha Industries, a company that’s a lot bigger than its harmless façade.
Plus mysterious men in black, a lot of cats, someone called Rider, and evil minions with a passion for grilled cheese.
