I've read an excerpt of The Great Gatsby, and, well, it just seemed like very thick, heavy writing to me. But it was only half a dozen paragraphs, I think, so perhaps I shouldn't judge it just yet. I've also never read Catcher in the Rye. Maybe I should one of these days. The beginning of The Great Gatsby was rather dry for me too. xD But it gets exciting later on. Prepare for lots of romantic drama. The Catcher in the Rye wasn't exactly my taste - it was written entirely in very colloquial language, and I found the main character hard to respect or sympathize with. But I appreciated the opportunity to see how a rich teen like him could slip into such depression.

Mhm, I'll do this. I'm very sporadic with my reading so I'll either do 25 books in two months or have it be a long and drawn out struggle. I've been getting the itch to read though so hopefully this will help me do just that. (Though I'll have to put off a few books I want to read, but whatever. x3) A: B: Breakfast at Tiffany's by Truman Capote C: D: E: F: G: The Glass Menagerie by Tennessee Williams H: I: J: K: L: M: Marley & Me by John Grogan N: O: P: Q: R: S: T: A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith (in progress) U: V: W: X: Y: Z:
Not doing the NT. x3 Regular books are hard enough anyway. Oh, and I added TGM but I just thought: do plays count? I assume they would but I'm not really 100% sure.

Oh, do plays count? *rereads first post and realizes it doesn't say* Wolf, can you clarify please? *bats eyelashes*
I loved the Glass Menagerie. It's a play I've wanted to see live since I read it. One of my pets has a name based off a part in the play, too. xDD

Aw, I really enjoyed The Great Gatsby. I didn't find it hard to read at all; I found it pleasurable, actually.
Though it's definitely not a love story. XD It's pretty deep.

Oh, and I added TGM but I just thought: do plays count? I assume they would but I'm not really 100% sure. Yep, plays count. ^_^ *prods my copy of A Streetcar Named Desire* Saw it free at a used bookstore, figured I'd heard its name a lot, figured I'd pick it up, too. xD

W00t, I just finished The End by Lemony Snicket. ^_^ I liked the part with being in the dark about ballerinas in the dark. XDDDDD That, and the illustration was so random.
But I really wish I could have seen more of the Quagmire triplets.
Though strangely I felt kinda sad for Kit AND Count Olaf. Even if I was a teeny bit happy when he died; I suppose it makes sense of ASOUE finishes with his death.

I personally felt the lack of much conclusion spoiled the conclusion itself. That being said, such an anticlimactic ending was perhaps the most climactic ending this series could've garnered. And by that I mean, it was simply Unfortunate. xD C: Coraline by Neil Gaiman ( in progress/Novella, I suppose. It seems rather short.) Well, technically speaking, Coraline is a children's book, so, yes, by adult standards, I do suppose it would be considered the size of a novella. Either way, it's quite the enjoyable read. I think you'll enjoy it. ~_^

Okie, I've started on my Neopian reading challenge for this year. =) I will be reading Kat's "Another Hero's Journey" when I find time. ^^ Seems like a fun read. W00t, I just finished The End by Lemony Snicket. ^_^ I liked the part with being in the dark about ballerinas in the dark. XDDDDD That, and the illustration was so random.

Though strangely I felt kinda sad for Kit AND Count Olaf. Even if I was a teeny bit happy when he died; I suppose it makes sense of ASOUE finishes with his death. I completely agree. I was very disappointed that the plotline following the Quagmire triplets was simply... dropped. I wanted a reunion, inevitably ending in tragedy, but still, a reunion. Are you enjoying Angels and Demons so far, Sammy? I've heard mixed reviews for that book.

M'kay, finally have time to start this. ^_^ LETSEE. *has read a lot this year* Too bad some of 'em are double letters. XD; Also, I'm probably forgetting a few, because I often grab books from the library and then read them in one night and return them and forget about them, so... >_> A: Animal Farm by George Orwell B: (The) Body of Christopher Creed by Carol Plum-Ucci C: Car Trouble by Jeanne DuPrau D: Driving with Dead People: A Memoir by Monica Holloway* E: F: Forget About It by Caprice Crane G: (The) Good Thief by Hannah Tinti H: Hold Tight by Harlan Coben I: Ink Exchange by Melissa Marr J: Just Listen by Sarah Dessen K: Keeping the Moon by Sarah Dessen L: Lock and Key by Sarah Dessen M: Me & Emma by Elizabeth Flock* N: No Trace by Barry Maitland** O: P: Q: R: (The) Road by Cormac McCarthy* S: Someone Like You by Sarah Dessen T: Taken by Chris Jordan U: V: W: Wherever Nina Lies by Lynn Weingarten X: Y: Z:
*Wouldn't recommend for anyone under 16 or so **Very disturbing. I'm pretty capable of handling mature books, but if you're on the more... easily disturbed side... I wouldn't recommend it at all; otherwise, I'd say don't read it if you're under maybe 16 or 18

Are you enjoying Angels and Demons so far, Sammy? I've heard mixed reviews for that book. *blinks* You will? XDDDDD I feel strangely flattered. Which one? *SHOT* I really wanted a reunion too, even if it ended in death (like one of the triplets or even all of them would die). At least the Baudelaires could see their friends again. Sure, they saw Kit, but that wasn't enough for me. I was hoping that at least one Quagmire would be with her... Angels and Demons...if you like puzzles and history and suspense, and you won't mind a bit of gory detail here and there, then you might enjoy the book. However, a friend of mine pointed out that there have been inconsistencies or errors in Dan Brown's layout of the setting. Plus, it sort of portrays the Vatican in a not-so-positive light, but real Christians won't complain about that, because it's a work of fiction. Based on some fact, but still fiction. And there were parts that I thought dragged a bit, and that I could have done without. But that's just me. I gotta pick another book to read. XD And read more NT stuff.

I loved Angels and Demons! Having never been to Rome, any inconsistencies in the lay of the land completely escaped me, but for the most part, I felt it all matched within the context of the book itself.... I also really enjoyed the aspect of the novel based around CERN and the particle accelerator that (despite what the book might suggest) hasn't even begun to produce the phenomena around which the book is based. Regardless, the blending of science and religion was absolutely awesome for a religious science-fanatic like me.
I highly recommend it, barring Kat's forewarnings, of course. :)
Now, The Da Vinci Code on the other hand.... Skip the book. It's not worth its weight in gold.
The movie, however, was actually quite good, I felt. ^_^
