OoC: Oh my gosh, finally a good place to role play wolves! *ish enthusiastic* I've been waiting for a place like this to appear FOREVER. ^_^
Have fun and join if you want! I don't have any rules for this role play (thinking like my neopets account brain). However, I may request things during the role play if I see them happening. BEWARE!
iC: The sun was just behind the distant mountains, its warmth not yet touching the dew tipped blades of grass of the open grassland. The bluish light of predawn made the cool, fog-like mist that covered the territory seem almost haunted, as if it were a threat to place paw inside the boundries. A forest, miles from the middle of the plains, was home to the majority of the wolves and other animals in the area. Entering the huge, grassy field was like declaring your independance from the woodland, showing you weren't afraid to leave the comforting canopy of oaks, maples, and ashes. But there hadn't been any newcomers to the grassland for moons now, ever since the plains' pack of wolves left. Finally the sun's uppermost edge touched the curved basin-shape between the mountains and heat began to make the fog steam and disapate. Trees scattered scarecely across the territory began to shed their wet dew and the creatures that survived in them, from bugs to birds, started stirring in the new warmth. Sunlight danced across a crystal clear pool, a spring that bubbled up and flowed off down a small stream towards the forest, which sat on the horizon, long and far away. Nearby, a monsterous tree shot up from the ground, casting morning shadows on the cool ground. The mist had disappeared now, revealing the sheer height of the tree. Its size was proof of its ancient heart. The lucious green leaves swayed in the breeze the sunlight brought. Birds, hundreds of them from the top of the jade-colored mountain flapped off to do their bidding, some leaving nests with eggs in the care of their life partner. Squirrels and chipmonks darted around from branch to branch, meeting and chittering, then heading off again. If standing in the distance, one might think it were an enormous, strange pine tree. However, the branches were true of an oak and thus the tree was a lot different that any any other animal or creature had seen before. Over the centuries, vines had sprouted at the base of the tree, climbing up and draping down. It formed a warm barrier between the outside weather and the inside nests of the former pack. At the base of the monster tree, between the roots of the vines and the tree, there was an opening, big enough for three wolves to lay wherever they wanted without touching. A giant mossy nest seemed to move, and as sunlight penetrated the vine wall, a head lifted from a gray lump near its most inner edge. A pair of amber-gold eyes blinked away sleep, their half-open gaze cloudy with the previous night's dreams. The wolf sat up and stretched its back, slowly, and yawning widely. Then, it stood, stretching once more to ensure it was fully away. The gaze seemed much more awake now, the full size of the wolf's eyes showing. It padded down the small hill to the ground around the tree, weaving between the old nests of its former pack. The stance it walked with made sure all knew, even the birds, that it was alpha here. The power in the wolf's shoulders, and the body structure it held, were proof that the creature was a male, and a strong one. He nudged his way through the vine wall to the outside and relished the heat the, now, risen sun gave to the world. The field had taken on a different look now, though it wasn't a new one to him. Springtime was obvious in the flowers that'd bloomed while he'd been sleeping. Whites and yellows, reds and oranges all touched the plains for miles around, to the mountains, to the forest, to everywhere. The vines on the tree had opened up to brilliant blues and purples behind him. This was the home he'd grown up in, and he was proud to still be there. Blinking away the last bits of his dreams, he walked to the spring, where he took a drink before sitting down to think for awhile. Later he'd hunt, and always, he'd hope for a newcomer to join him.
OoC: I've gotta go now, we're going shopping, but if you'd like to join, post an intro or something and, PLEASE, wait for me. -_-' I hate being left behind on meh own board.......
THANKS! ~Blue~

The young female wolf awoke with a start. Already the early morning rays of soft sunlight were scattered upon her. She got up and stretched a little, sniffing the air as she did so. She loved the smell of a new day, maybe today she’d be able to find a new pack to join. It wasn’t so very long ago when her pack had disbanded, the alpha male killed by a wild boar they were hunting. For now, she was on her own.
The forest seemed to stir out of a sleepy stupor around her. Her ears pricked up at the sound of little animals scurrying around, the rustle of leaves as a bird took off above. She’d have to get around to hunting soon, she hadn’t eaten for almost two days now. Hunting alone was never easy, especially for her who had never been without a pack. Her previous meals consisted off unlucky rodents and abandoned carcasses, what she wouldn’t give for a freshly killed boar.
Still, one couldn’t hunt when one was thirsty. She made her way softly to the nearest watering hole, a small bubbling spring. The clouds overhead were slowly tearing apart, meaning there would be wind and wind always meant for good hunting for it carried the scent of prey farther than usual. She stopped a few paces away from the spring, her ears having picked up the sound of water being lapped up. Peeking from behind a bush, she noticed another wolf, a male, on the opposite side of the spring. Maybe she was in luck today, a hunting partner was what she needed. First things first though, she approached the spring and started lapping up the cool water.

Soft lapping of water clicked in the wolf's head and his blank eyes turned to register a stranger. He hadn't even been aware of a newcomer, even though it was obvious that she was right there. His mind hadn't taken hold of the feeling of another's presense, thus, it hadn't warned him of possible danger. When he finally broke from his mind's hold, he stood, a slight growl emitting from his throat. Blinking his pretty eyes, he stared at the female with calm eyes. "What business do you have here, trespasser," he said, voice riddled with curiousity and kindness. There wasn't an evil bone in the beast's body, though he could fight well enough to fend for himself. The territory was his, and he wouldn't lose it to anyone. "You have traveled far from your home in the forest if that's where you're from," he added, calmly." With a twinkle in his eyes, he sat down again to watch and listen for an answer. If there was any sign of threat, he would jump into high alert right away.

The crystal cold water greeted the female wolf’s tongue with a fresh sweetness. She was grateful for this spring and lapped up her fill of water when a soft growl emanated from the other side of the spring. She looked up to see that the male wolf had stirred, staring at her with a pair of eyes as calm as the water itself.
"What business do you have here, trespasser? You have traveled far from your home in the forest if that's where you're from, "
She tilted her head slightly at the question, detecting no aggressive intent in his tone. Still, she took half a step back just in case, one could never tell when the calm green of the forest would turn into a blood red frenzy of death. Young as she was, she had lived long enough to know that. She observed him as she pondered her answer, the other sinking back down into a sitting position. Satisfied that she wasn’t in any immediate danger, she answered, “My pack has been disbanded, now I only seek refuge and a small meal. I shall be on my way if this is your territory.” She lowered her stance, showing that she herself brought no malicious intentions into the stranger’s territory.

OoC: Sorry for not replying yesterday. I've been swamped with work! Had to work on my room today, but I managed to finish before 5pm..... Anyway! Post! Yes!
iC: The alpha took in the female's words like a meal, nodding when she'd finished. "No need to be so tense," he said, his eyes glinting for a moment before he stood up, shaking himself off to come and investigate this stranger a little better. He padded around the spring, slowing as he neared her to show he meant no harm. There was no reason to show aggression towards one that hadn't threatened his livelyhood. "To begin," he started, stopping before her, "I'd like to welcome you to my territory. Since you are of no danger to my land, you are allowed, by me, Alpha Sun Chaser, and my ancestors, to rest here to your hearts content and hunt the lands of these sunlight drenched plains. My home is your home for the time being, until you decide to leave." The male nodded, blinking with half-open eyes. The calm within him at that very moment was almost strange. Sitting again, he awaited for her to speak again.

OoC: I feel quite illiterate compared to the person I role play with. '''

OOC:: No need to be sorry, RL has a way of sneaking up on us, its understandable and it happens to everyone. And why’d you feel illiterate? You seem to be pretty good at RPing.
Back in character::
A soft breeze coursed through the air, carrying the male wolf’s words towards her as he approached from the other side of the spring, bringing with him words of welcome. She relaxed as he welcomed her into his territory; the last thing she wanted was to flee from this place, she was tired enough from wandering as she was already. She looked him over as he sat back again, her golden eyes clear and soft.
“My gratitude is yours and to your ancestors then, Alpha Sun Chaser. I used to be Moonlit Runner of the White Rock pack, but now my pack is disbanded and I’m left nameless without them.” She said softly, a touch of sadness entering her face as she recalled her old pack. She shook her head, it would not do to look sad when she had just been welcomed warmly. She tilted her head forward in a show of gratitude towards the male wolf.

OoC: Thanks much. ^^ I feel better. Just, compared to you, my character seems so bland. '' Even after all three years of role playing... But that's alright! ^^ I'm quite enjoying myself!
iC: Sun Chaser nodded as she talked of her pack and her former name. The hint of sorrow that tinted her features seemed to taint his heart with a feeling of sympathy, and he lowered his head with her's and lifted her chin so he could stare into her eyes. "Do not worry about the future or the past. What matters is the present," he murmured, quietly, "Though your pack is gone, you have many chances for another. Chose where your heart wishes to stay, follow fate to the ends of the world, and live where you desire. Moonlit Runner still resides within your every strand of being, so why not keep the name you were destined to have from the beginning?" The male stood again, turning with a flick of his tail, and headed off back towards the towering tree. "Follow me then! I will show you where the nests are and where you may relax until the day you go. And I will show you the stocks that had been left behind and gathered into." Glancing back over his shoulder, he winked a bright amber-gold eye, then took off at a slow trot, hoping his new counterpart would follow.

Moonlit Runner gazed into Sun Chaser’s eyes as he spoke words of comfort to her; for a moment she forgot her troubles as she was taken in by his amber-gold eyes, immersed in a strange feeling of safety, even though she was in a stranger’s land. She looked silently for a moment as he finished talking; the only sound audible was that of the bubbling spring and the occasional splash of a fish. She lifted a paw to place on his when he turned around, motioning for her to follow.
She quickly followed suit, pacing silently behind him as they made their way through the forest. Somewhere along the way, she caught a wink of his eye, and returned the wink with her own, accompanied with a smile of gratitude.

The open plains had been quite flat for awhile now. The tall grass swayed, making it seem like an ocean of bright green, mixed with multicolored flowers. The ancient tree began to grow in height as the alpha made his way to the ivy wall that protected the nesting area behind it. He stopped for a moment at the thick wall of vines, turning sideways slightly to address Moonlit Runner. His chest seemed to swell with pride, the ability to show someone the place where he'd been born and raised almost too much. He had a wide smile as he began to speak. "Behind this wall of flowering ivy," Sun Chaser said, blinking with twinkling eyes, "Are the nests of my former pack. When you pass through these vines, you are entering my home and residence. I was trained in the place behind this protection, and I have protected it for many moons." He nodded, glancing past the she-wolf out across the miles of grassy field. The scarce trees dotted it every once in a while, but rarely did anything bother the flatness of the territory. Again, he returned his eyes to the female and continued. "When you pass through here, you are swearing you will never betray the location of the pack resting place, even if you don't stay," he murmured with sudden seriousness, "Betrayal is not accepted by me or my ancestors, and I will not tolerate it lightly. If you speak of me later in your life, never tell another wolf where this lies, or forever, you will be cursed by me and the great goddess of wolves, **Akisonu." He stopped his speech and gazed once more, then turned and disappeared through the vines, appearing quickly on the otherside and turning to wait in the shadows inside. "Pass through," he called.
OoC: **Akisonu is a Wolf Goddess I created, who was originally the first wolf role play character I came up with. She became a heavenly being when I decided she deserved better, and now my characters bless her name. If you disagree with this, please don't rant about it here.
Akisonu: A winged, heavenly wolf, known by (my) wolves as the highest being. Said to be a pure white wolf, in fact, she is pure white, with golden eyes that twinkle like stars and feathered wings as soft as clouds. Around her neck, she wears a golden chain, which bears a gem known as the Pearl of Destiny. (Pearl of Destiny: A large pearl with a clear, crystal opening in its front-center, where the tip of a fang (which is imbedded into its top) can be seen.) If you wish to borrow this character, please ask first, for she is copyrighted to me. Thanks. ^^

As they entered Sun Chaser’s realm, Moonlit Runner caught the male wolf fill with pride over his homeland. He had a good reason to be proud of it too; the place was beautiful, Moonlit Runner’s eyes danced from one feature to another, the whole place captivating her in its beauty. She turned to face the ancient tree, its enormous size seeming almost legendary. Never had she seen such a tree, within or without the forest; it humbled her with its size. For a second she could see Sun Chaser being raised as a cub in these lands, the ancient tree standing over him and his pack like a giant sentinel, a guardian over those who lived there. She wondered how many generations of Sun Chaser’s pack had the tree seen in its many years, or even if it had been there since the beginning. She stopped in the middle of the plains for a second, a blue butterfly catching her eye.
A blue butterfly.
Was it so long ago when she was a cub, her mother raising her and her siblings under the roots of a hazel tree in the forest? When she used to dance under the moonlight, catching the eye of many a male and earning her the name she had grown accustomed to? She remembered the time when she was trying to catch a blue butterfly that had found its way to the forest floor, her mother smiling as she watched her play.
“Hey, mum?” “Yes dear?” “Will I grow to be strong like Akisonu?” “If you work hard enough, who knows? Even goddesses get lonely sometimes. You may grow to be her friend, but even if you do, never forget those who were your friends in the first place. That is the mark of a true wolf.” “Huh? I’ll never leave this pack mum! Never never ever!”
Never never ever. The words rang like the echo of an empty bell, long broken, within her. She wondered what had become of her siblings, her friends, her rivals, her pack. She wondered if she would ever see them again, or even hear of them. Maybe one day the wind will bring her tales of them, maybe one day they’ll meet up, once again.
Maybe.
Moonlit Runner was drawn out of her thoughts and memories by the soft voice of Sun Chaser. They had stopped before a wall of flowering ivy, within which the nests of his pack lay.
"Betrayal is not accepted by me or my ancestors, and I will not tolerate it lightly. If you speak of me later in your life, never tell another wolf where this lies, or forever, you will be cursed by me and the great goddess of wolves, Akisonu."
Betrayal. Wasn’t that what she had committed when she left her own land? The day she abandoned her ancestral grounds? Isn’t that why she was called Moonlit Runner? To keep on running, never to stop. Running, away from the world till the darkness consumes her.
"Pass through,"
She stood there for a moment, rooted to the ground, unable to accept the trust given to her. She lowered her head as a crystal teardrop traced its way down her snout, only to shatter into a thousand shards as it hit the forest floor. She just couldn’t enter Sun Chaser’s resting grounds. Not after she had abandoned her own.

A sense of sorrow and memory flooded Sun Chaser's mind, and he knew something was wrong with his newfound friend. He pushed his way back through the wall, poking his head out to look at her. His eyes saw her tear hit the ground, and sudden realization clicked in his head. She didn't want to accept his trust. A slight sigh, one only he could register, took a moment, then he stepped out and sat down to speak more with the she-wolf. "Moonlit Runner," he whispered, lowering his gaze, watching the ground, ears back, "I feel your pain, and I'm sorry you cannot step into my home. I can gather you some bedding from inside and make you a nest here, but otherwise, I will not pressure you to enter my domain. It would a fruitless, and rude, gesture to insist." The male tilted his head to one side as his eyes lifted to look at her. "We can hunt momentarily, unless you're too tired," he added. Standing again, he flicked his tail and stretched, turning to his left to stare out over the open plains for a moment, listening to the sounds of his packlands, his territory. The sense of betrayal he felt flowing freely from the female was almost unbarable, and he wanted nothing more to make her feel more comfortable. "You may leave whenever you like," he mentioned as a side note, keeping his eyes away from her own. Deep inside himself, he would regret to see her go, but he knew she was a free wolf, one that had done something to upset her forever. He could never beg her to stay, dignity wouldn't allow it. But at least she could become a close friend...

OOC:: Sorry for the delay in getting my replies up. I blame my exams. I’ll try to reply within two days of your posts, depending on what exams I have.
Back In Character::
Moonlit Runner held back more tears as Sun Chaser tried to comfort her with his soft words. A part of her was angry at herself for letting her emotions show so easily, a part of her wished she hadn’t ventured into Sun Chaser’s realm, and a small part of her wanted her mum. She closed her eyelids momentarily before looking up at Sun Chaser, her face smiling. “I’m sorry for having to burden you so much. A tuft of heather and leaves will suffice as bedding for me.” She looked up to the sky, watching the clouds collide in lumps, she hoped her mother could forgive her for having to abandon her homeland. Maybe someday she’d be able to return there safely, or maybe someday she’ll start her own pack.
She turned back to Sun Chaser, placing her snout next to his, nipping it gently in a gesture of playful friendliness. It had been a while since she had hunted with another wolf, it would be good to have a hunting partner again. Maybe the plains could offer a different sort of hunt that she was used to, something new for a change. “A hunt would be good, it’s been a while since I’ve had a partner to hunt with.”
She turned around to gaze over Sun Chaser’s territory, the sun seemed to favor this place, the plants were green, the place lush with beauty. Then it struck her, was Sun Chaser alone here? She turned to him, “If you don’t mind me asking, where’s the rest of your pack?”
