((They're your charries. Manipulte them as you will )) Thak just nodded not really wanting to provoke him into talking again. The paladin's voice was slowly becoming as annoying as persistent mosquito. Without a second thought the orc headed off in the direction of the tavern. Een though ti was bound to be closed this early ***** Divna stared and had no idea what just happened. But now that the sun was peeking up over the plains it was blatent Artemis was badly injured all over. Quickly she took Nini out of her pack to let the kitten run and stretch her tiny legs. Then the elfling plced her hands into yet another mystical gesture and touched it over the Morphos mouth. A tiny drop of shining dew dropped betwee his lips. She sat back hugging her knees watching as his wounds slowly healed under the massive bloodstains and clots. Knowing it aws going to be awhile until he woke up Divna grabbed her kitten and curled p in the grass for a uch needed nap.

It was fairly hard for Liger to reach the main room, as he had to stretch himself to his maximum, since the entry was much too small for him. He was therefore relieved when he reached the main room.
"I warn you, I am not going out of here before a while"
He rolled himself into a ball next to the wall oposing the entrace, and Aerisa placed her sister against him.
"Sure. Anyway I don't think I'll change into my normal form anytime soon... There is no way to differenciate a transformed Morpho from a normal animal, so this form is much saffer... I'll take care of the hunting. I'll be right back"
Liger nodded before looking at Adeesa. He was still angry at her, it was a miracle his nose hadn't broken... But after all... He looked at his master exit the hole, wondering what she was going to do. Once outside, she sighed.
"A Morpho is still a Morpho.." She howled, howled as loud as she could, for it to echo as far as possible, howled in the language of wild canine, Foxes and Wolves alike.
"Come here, you'll be safe here.."
She hated humans, elves, or whatever. She was honest when she said she had no interest in that elf child. But it would be her fault if one more of her already too rare kind died, and she didn't want that...
Some Morpho could understand Feral languages even in their Humanoid form, if he had changed, she hoped he would be one of thar kind..

((Fun fact: A wolf's howl does not echo )) Khestrel had a hard time heaving Sontag's limp and bleeding body back to the church. Fortunately, a few paladins had happened upon them and assisted them to the church post haste. In an hour, Khestrel got out of the chair he was sitting on as an older man, a cleric of some sort, emerged from the infirmary. "Sontag is going to be fine, thanks to your swift actions Sir Khestrel," said the man. "Unfortunately, the man's going to have to stay in bed for a long time yet; his back's damaged and he can't move his limbs below the point of entry." Khestrel bowed his head. He didn't particularly care about Sontag but one less capable member in the service of Selbaden was a good enough blow to their cause. "Now, concerning that Morpho who injured Brother Sontag --" "Yes," Khestrel interrupted. "I have already told the elders about the Morpho and expect to leave in search of them in a short while." "But Brother Sontag --" "The Council has given me permission to undertake this on my own," Khestrel lied. How could a lowly cleric know what happens among the Council of Elders? "I was just about to leave for the treasury to request the funds to finance my expenditure." The old cleric nodded. "I see. Don't let me hold you up." Khestrel nodded and headed off to gather the coin necessary for Thak and him. ~*~*~*~ Artemis thought he heard someone calling him. He groaned and slowly opened his eyes. The sunlight nearly blinded him and he had to blink several times before his eyes adjusted to it. He tried moving and surprisingly found no trace of any aches or pains. He tried his right leg and felt a flash of pain. Still hurt, as expected. He winced and got into a sitting position, placing both hands over his knee. The warm, tingling sensation -- this one pleasant compared to that of morphing -- spread through his leg and after a few minutes he gingerly tested the leg. It still felt a little raw but it'd hold. Then he remembered the elf and, quickly throwing the hood up over his head to hide his ears, turned to face the elfling.

((Fun fact: A wolf's howl does not echo :P)) ((OOC: Really? First time I hear that. How come? Anyway, what I meant is that she howled for it to go as far as possible =P )) Aerisa heard Liger ask her just what she was doing, but she ignored him, listening to the sounds of the plain... After some minutes, hearing no answers, she howled her call again. She didn't wait to see if an answer came this time, however, and entered the burrow. "Now it's up to him... whether he heard or not." She blocked a part of the entrace with dirt, leaving only a hole for oxygen exchange, and hear what was going on outside. "Just what did you say anyway!?" Liger told her when she entered the mail room. He seemed so much bigger than her when they were both in their animals form. "Nothing you wouldn't know if you learned Canine Language!"

Thak was completely out of place in the quaint little tavern but he made an effort to divert stares. Soon the overstuffed pompus 'do-gooder' would be back and he wouldn't have to bother with such things. To not just get up, grab a broom, sharpen it and use it to make a villager-kebob took a great deal of self control. Luckily no one was bothering him to leave so he wouldn't have to mention Khestrel. Then he definitly would've gone on a rampage. "Hee hee," Thak thought to himself. "Their guts would go squish..." Trying to pass the time he pulled out the phoenix egg and examined it a bit. It was peculiar because it seemed it glowed even more when in the sunlight ***** Divna yawned lightly in her sleep and hugged her napping Nini closer as the kitten dreamed of a river of cream chock full of fish.

((Saw it on Animal Planet once :3 And coincidentally I have this cramp in my right leg. The irony. Heh, fish and cream XD And it's morning Kat and Frozen )) Well, the little elf girl seemed to be unhurt and sleeping. Better to let her get some rest after all that happened last night. Artemis breathed in and exhaled the clear morning air. It was going to be some time before he'd try that stunt again, not with this leg at any rate. Artemis stared at the sleeping elf. "'But that's not a bad thing' she said," he said to himself, rubbing his chin thoughtfully. Then he chuckled and lowered his hood. It would be nice to feel the wind on his ears, especially since the elfling didn't seem bothered by it. ~*~*~*~ The gold coins clinked merrily in the dozen or so pouches clasped neatly to the paladin's belt. Khestrel seemed to share his coins' merriment, whistling to himself as he strode down the clean streets of Zeromus, the posh section of course. People he knew greeted him politely and went about their business, happy to see their favourite paladin of Selbaden on duty. Or rather off duty. He had requested a month's leave from the Council of Elders earlier on and left with the gold and the rest of his supplies. Now he only had to meet Thak. The Sunsong Tavern soon came into view and Khestrel smiled as he pushed open the door. Soon, there would be three less Morpho scum in the realm.

After a quick breakfast of the last bits of trail mix in her small pouch, Lorraine gently patted her red hair and made sure no stray strands were blown about by the gentle morning breeze. Twirling her staff and enjoying the feel of the magic within, she practiced a simple spell that made the dewdrops on the blades of grass dance.
But something within her told her to go to the city, as if the voice within was speaking in riddles.
The sorceress scratched her head. "Well, if trouble erupts, I can always get back out," she said to herself calmly. Lorraine whirled her staff again, giggling at how light it was and how it gave her a feeling of control. A sparrow flew overhead as she made her way towards the town.
~*~*~*~
"What do you mean, you ran out of eggs?" Gerard stood up, nearly overturning the table where he sat. The other customers at the inn, most of whom were just lounging about or reading, were rather taken aback.
"Sir, early birds get the eggs," explained the innkeeper calmly.
"But - "
But it was too late. Gerard's unpredictable, underestimated temper had risen again to dangerous proportions. Fetching a dagger from his belt, he rammed it through the hapless man's chest. The blood was everywhere, including the floor, as the innkeeper collapsed, dead before he hit the floorboards.
Thankfully, the customers were quick. They jumped out of their seats, yelling at the half-elf rogue and throwing things at him. Gerard sprinted, trying to lose the crowd, but he found himself cornered at a wall, yards away from the door. How could you lose it like that? he scolded himself. Now look what you've done...
He glanced beside him and saw an open window. Gerard leapt out of it and ran far, far away from that inn, pulling up his hood as he went and making a note to steal another cloak for a disguise. A fork sailed over his head, a cook's futile attempt to nab him.

Thak drummed his large obscure fingers on the table in boredom. The sudden sucessful murder attempt had provided a bit of entertainment, and at least everyone paying more attention to the weird little man rather than gawking at his own size. He grunted impatiently and kicked the other chair at his table out a bit when Khestrel finally showed up. Unfortunatly seeming much more cocky than earlier. "Took ya long enough. Now where the 'ell are we gonna start searchin' for these...er...disturbances?" ***** After roughly an hour of napping Divna finally stirred from her sleep stretching and rubbing her eyes groggily. She let out a loud huffy exhale and plopped down on her back in the high grasses, letting them tickle between her toes. "G'morning Artemis! Are you feeling better? You had alot of bad boo boos earlier." She sighed happily. The elves in her village always taught younglings not to boast about their good deeds unless asked. Divna didn't mind, she was just happy giving her new friend a hand. Nini tilted her head curiously staring up at his ears. Using tiny claws he climbed up the back of his shirt and pawed at them with interest.

Khestrel stared aghast at the blood. "This had better not be your handiwork, Thak," he said seriously, taking his seat at the table and ignoring the ruckus around him. "Still, I did not particularly like the innkeeper; never gave me any eggs for breakfast.
As for the 'disturbances' as you so eloquently put it, I heard from some townsfolk that they were heading out into the plains, probably into the forests to hide with those pompous elves." He removed a pouch of gold coins from his belt and placed it on the table before them. "I do hope this is motivation enough to deal with any annoyances we should encounter on the way."
~*~*~*~
Artemis rubbed the back of his neck, careful not to tip over the kitten. "Good morning to you too Divna wasn't it?" he greeted brightly. "I was about to ask you the same thing but, yes I'm feeling fine." He ignored the dull ache in his leg. "Could've been worse but ..." He eyed the elfling inquisitively. "You didn't happen to do something, did you? I was rather expecting more injuries when I was patching myself up."

He was too tired to go on. A rock had been hurled after him as well, and it had ripped his sleeve and grazed his left arm, his dagger-throwing arm. He had nearly slipped and tripped several times, desperate to lose the crowds that might start hunting for him.
Gerard sat down and slumped against the wall of the alley that branched out from his previous hiding place, digging through garbage for something - or some things - that would hopefully successfully disguise him and keep the people at the inn from grabbing him. He kept on glancing around, but thankfully nobody took much notice of him. And if they did, they probably didn't do much. The murder of the innkeeper must have made him a feared man. Gerard found himself grinning crookedly at the thought.
He fished out a large, worn hat and a disgusting dirty sheet that was torn at the edges. Ignoring the smell, the rogue draped it over his own cloak like a cape. It was so long that it extended all the way down to his feet, and he had to be careful not to step and trip over it.
People would probably see Gerard as a beggar instead of a murderer. His only fear was a mage who could see through his makeshift, stinking disguise.
~*~*~*~
It wasn't long until Lorraine stood at the nearer side of the outskirts, where the houses were rather fewer between. She took a deep breath, praying that her magic would guide and protect her, and made her way.

Aerisa streched herself before jumping on Liger's back. "I'm so tired.... G'night." She rolled herself, falling asleep almost immediatly.
"So much for space.." Liger growled before he, too fell asleep...
***
A small moaning woke Aerisa. Adeesa had fallen from against Liger, and on the ground, she certainly didn't seem that well.. She breathed heavilly, moaning, sobbing. She was wet with perspiration. Jumping from Liger, who was still sleeping, Aerisa placed her wet, wolf nose on her sister...
"darn, it's so hot... Could it be an after effect of that green stuff?" She thought. What if it was poison? Adeesa was closer than her from the place where it had exploded, and had lost her cloth when she had fainted, mainbe she had breated enough to endanger her?
"Please by alright..." She licked her face before rolling next to her, her wolf head on her head...
****
"Now stay calm and listen!" A woman with rounded ears and a skinny tail looked under her; A rat Morpho.
Sitting on the bed in front of her were two, identicals little girls. One looked just like a human, the other, had her own Morphos trait well developed, her wolf tail seemed complete, and her ear were well in developement. The hair of the first was brown, while the second was starting to turn red. The room shaked as the cart they were in advanced, lead by an horse who needed obviously no one to lead him.
"You will be quite old soon. I believe it is time for you to learn how our glorious specie came to be, Aerisa... Adeesa." She looked at the second with disdain and little Aerisa grabbed her sister hand, smilling warmly.
"Aren't we just... cousins of humans, elves and orcs?" Aerisa asked, still holding her sister's hand.
"No way!" Her mother growled. "Those worthless little..." She likely would have said rats, but considering she was one herself, didn't. "Have absolutely nothing to do with what make us the great specie we are!" She took a book from a shelve, sitting on a nearby chair.
"Now listen well..."
****
A long time ago, the five mystic animals were much less rare than today... They were the Dragons, the Phoenixes, The Unicorns, the Basillics, and the Kitsunes. In that time, they lived amongs every other races, and were free to decide to follow any of the four elements of that time; Fire, Water, Air, and Earth.
At that time, a great sun from the sky was heading closer to the planet, sent by god's greatest ennemy, the formless one, menacing life itself. God himself, alone, was unable to stop it. It is then, that from nowhere, 5 mysticals appeared.
A fire Phoenix, an air Unicorn, a water Basilic, an earth Kitsune, and a Dragon, their leader, who used the power of each and every elements.
Together, they stopped the huge sun, saving all of the living creature, and god himself. For their good deeds, god gave them a special power; the hability to transform into humans at will, only keeping some traits of their real specie...
((OOC: Decided to go into mythologie a bit, hope you don't mind =3 (and Adeesa's dreaming this(Btw, the huge sun is a meteor if you didn't get it =3)))

Thak scoffed and tossed the pouch about a bit in his palm. "If it were my handiwor' there would be comple'ely severed bodypa's. Takes the guesswor' outta making sure they've snuffed it. Grinning broadly, and showing off some not-so-hygenic oversized teeth, he packed the gold away neatly in skull with a convinient lid and lock on top. "An' yeah, Khes', I would say that's nice compensation for meh services. Now can we please get our arses outta this city? I these people stare a' me any longer the res' o' the floor'll be stained red too" ***** Divna giggled gleafully and hugged him around the waist. "Hee hee yup! I'm gonna be a water mage and one of the first things I learned was health spells! Mine aren't too powerful yet but they're still good! When I get big I'm gonna be a medicine lady and get to where pretty clothes and carry a staff and make people feel better!" The elfling giggled again and scooped Nini off Artemis' shoulder before plopping back down in the grass again. "So where are we anyways Artemis? This doesn't look like the city at all..."

They all were very happy of it, but, unfortunately, some other beings became jalous of them. Humans, mysticals and animals alike. Taking pity on them, they tried to convince God to extend the gift to every other creatures. God didn't want it too much, but after their insistance, he agreed. Animals could now transform into humans, and humans, into the animal that fitted them the most.
Unfortunately, the jalousy did not end. The 5 mysticals were all fair, but other viewed them as favored by god, some even thought them to be incarnations of the shapeless one. It reached a point where, one day, without warning... they attacked them. Using hate as their fuel, they were able to kill the Unicorn, the Phoenix, the Basillic, and the Kitsune.
The Dragon, however, proved to be much too strong, and they had no other choice, but to imprison him in the depth of the Earth. But before he was locked away forever, he used the power of his fallen comrade to curse those who had betrayed them....
Removing the gift to all but a select few, and making the transformations as painful as possible, as a reminder of their bad deeds. Removing the Mythicals, who hadn't protected them, the right to choose over their elements, and decreasing their hability to reproduce themself, so they would grow rarer, and finally, creating all of the calamities; flood, volcanos.....
Soon after, god left the realm, never to come back. Some says the chains that bind and the wall that hold the great Dragons are weakening, and that, one day, he will free himself... But no one can predict what will happen then...
(Woot XD)
