Lorraine nodded. "No problem, so long as Liger is willing to cooperate. So, shall we climb onto his back then?"
"I'm all right on my feet," said Gemina. "Unless Liger can take another passenger, since I'll volunteer to carry Divna. It's no problem - I've carried heavier." She bent down and smiled at the elfling. "And you heard her - we should stop for a bite to eat if we don't want to collapse along the way."
~*~*~*~
But Gerard wasn't about to let the doctor escape. Seeing him disappear behind a clump of bushes, the thief pounced, rather catlike, and there was a big thump as he landed on top of his quarry.
"Can't let you running off to tell everyone about us, can we?" said Gerard, standing up, his head and shoulders jutting out from the greenery. He held Ronan in a headlock, and the doctor was groaning loudly in pain. "Shut up!" The thief drew a knife and held it to Ronan's throat.
"You...you look like her..." Ronan gasped and grabbed Gerard's arms, trying to get him to let go. For a while both men struggled. "You look like...like...my Gemina!"
The half-elf, half-human thief nearly dropped his prize, but held. "I don't know what you're talking about," he hissed. "But you won't live to tell your tale!"
With an agitated grunt, Gerard ran the knife through Ronan's throat and let the doctor fall to the ground, where the latter howled in pain as the life slowly began draining out of him, scaring several birds out of the trees overhead. It was so loud and so unnerving that Gerard wanted to clap his hands over his elflike ears.
~*~*~*~
"Wait!" screeched Gemina, straining her ears. There was a yell in the distance, and from experience, she knew that it was a cry for help. Someone was in dire trouble. "That sounded like...like..."
Instinct took over as the nurse ran the opposite way, accidentally shoving Aerisa and Lorraine aside. "That was Ronan! I have to help him!"
"Gemina!" called Lorraine. "Hold on!" She wanted to follow, but she glanced at everyone else. When she looked back, Gemina had already gone as fast as her feet could carry her.

"Wait!" Artemis called, grabbing hold of Lorraine's shoulder. "Don't go that way, that's where I last smelt the people who're chasing us." He glanced anxiously into the undergrowth before turning back to the mage, shaking his head. "Much as I hate to leave Gemina those people smelt dangerous and I'm not about to risk any of you getting caught by them, especially Aerisa and Adeesa."
~*~*~*~
Khestrel drew his sword in a flash and pointed it to the back of the thief's bare neck. "What have you done, you fool?!" he shouted angrily. "I shall not tolerate the blood of the innocent being spilled in my presence! Thak, tie that murderer up. I am going to see to it that he faces justice."
((Edit: Sorry, Khestrel. I'm a horrible role-player for forgetting my character's names xD))

[shadow=purple,left,300](I'm sorry for suddenly barging in when I think it's not my turn, but...I couldn't resist. ^^;
And...since when did Artemis have a sword, eh, Scarrinator? XD)[/shadow]
"Gemina - oh, wait, I don't know your last name."
Lorraine sighed and looked at Artemis. "She seemed...frantic," the mage whispered. "But I can't let her get into trouble. Still, I know that we can't go back there, and I also know that Gemina's not bluffing. I could read her expression and how she acted, and it was all genuine.
"But what can we do?" Lorraine gripped her staff. "We can't let her get hurt."
~*~*~*~
Gerard raised a very cynical eyebrow. He knew that Khestrel could end his life in a second, but of course, the thief wasn't about to die begging on his knees before some haughty knight. He was way too proud for that.
"Consider that a favor," said Gerard swiftly, clenching his hands into fists to keep them from shaking. "I got rid of that vermin before he could escape and yell to the entire world that we're here and we're up to no good. And then you're going to kill me for killing the man who could've gotten us all killed? Oh, Khestrel, Khestrel, Khestrel. I'm very disappointed in you."
"Well - I'm more - disa - disappointed - in you!"
From the corner of his eye, the thief saw a flash of brown, green and tan leap over a bush with amazing speed and swoop down beside Ronan, who was staring up at the sky with wide, wide eyes, waiting unnaturally quietly for death after screaming his lungs out a moment ago. Blood was streaming out of his neck slowly, spilling onto his immaculate uniform and onto the grass.
"Ronan!" screeched the nurse. She looked like a nurse, judging from her uniform, and looked very much like a human, except for several elfish features, like her prominent ears. "RONAN!"
Her hands quickly found his throat and clutched the wound tightly. Emerald sparks shimmered their way into it, sealing it up steadily until the flow of blood stopped. Ronan had lost a lot of blood, but he was still alive, pale and still staring blankly above.
The nurse worked quickly, drawing a length of bandage from her pocket, which she apparently carried everywhere. In a few moments, it was fixed, and Ronan was a little less pale than before, and could sit up shakily.
But when he opened his mouth, nothing came out. His companion turned even more deathly white than he was.
"His voice," she gasped. "His windpipe was only touched a bit, but his voice box is just about beyond repair. He'll be mute for the rest of his life..."
A tear ran down one of Ronan's blank eyes, and he slowly stretched out his arms. He embraced the nurse who saved his life.

(Aeri + Job = Tired T_T )
Aerisa stared for a bit. She couldn't let them leave with Divna. Kids were one of the only thing she hated being wounded, and she knew full well that if she wandered once they reached destination, she WOULD be. And since EVERY kids wandered... On the other hand, there were seemingly persons against them, and she couldn't risk that nurse double crossing her...
She removed her backpack, tying it solidly on her Beast's back, and helping a slightly confused Adeesa climb on top of him.
"Change of Plan... Unless some of you want to stay and help, you all leave NOW. Remember well... DO NOT leave the area Liger will drop you to. I will not be responsible of what happen if you do... Especially make sure SHE stay still..." She said, pointing to the young elf. In the best, it'll be a save... In the worst, simply one more kill to add to my list... She thought to herself, turning her head in dirrection to where Gemina had disappeared...

Divna's eyes distracted her from Aerisa's lecture. For through the brush and trees she saw a greater display of blood than she had ever seen. But she wouldn't have even noticed the other party if the nurse hadn't bolted off in that direction. Her bottom lip trembled fiercely as the red stain spurted continously until Gemina's magic sealed the wound. But instead of a sigh of relief upon her tender heart Divna suddenly burst into tears and ran over and clung to Adeesa's leg. "Wh...what just happened?" the elfling stammered with tears welling in her eyes. ***** Thak was suddenly completed baffled by whatever had just happened. Gerard being ridiculously unreasonable, well, that was expected of course, but not some woman tearing through the woods and miraculously healing the doctor's wounds; which he found quite ironic to be honest. But when he turned to see where the heck she'd came from the orc suddenly shouted "Oi! Khes! Get yer arse over 'ere! The res' o' the Morphos gaggled up over there!" Grabbing his axe Thak thundered through the trees and took aim at Aerisa's pretty little neck.

[shadow=purple,left,300]((I wanted to kill off Ronan - yes, literally - but I decided against it at the last minute due to the lack of male protagonists. ^^;;; Sorry if that was...erm, suddenly really, really miraculous. XD))[/shadow]
Lorraine crouched down and hugged Divna gently. "I don't know, but I'll find out if Gemina's all right." But before she could move and get to the nurse, she saw some movement in the trees out of the corner of her eye.
It was something large...Lorraine could barely tell from the shroud of trees, but she could see a flash of steel with that large creature.
That was all she needed.
The mage raised her staff as high as she could and created a swirling gush of water that whooshed into the trees like a levitating river, headed straight for her target.
~*~*~*~
"Where's he going?" asked Gemina, watching the orc leave with a large axe.
Ronan mouthed something, but unfortunately the nurse wasn't a very good lip reader. He flapped his arms and continued mouthing like a fish out of water before grabbing Gemina's head and turning it around. Then he shoved her shoulders, trying to get her to stand up.
She stood, and squinted through the trees. It was only then she realized that her group wasn't as far as she had expected. In fact, the half-elf could still see her comrades. Her gaze swiveled back onto the orc with the axe.
Gemina screeched a single magic word with all her might, and raised her palm. A blaze of serpentine green lightning shot out of it and headed for the back of the orc.
"Aerisa!" she shouted at the top of her lungs, her voice cracking. "GET OUT OF THE WAY!"
"Magic little girl, as always, are you?"
Gemina didn't turn around to see who the speaker was. She didn't need to.
"So, Gerard," she whispered, her words laced with the deepest loathing. "Gerard Arthur Edthirus. We meet again."

((Forgive me if I winged it badly ^_^ ) "Aerisa go! Get Divna and Adeesa out of here! We'll cover you!" Artemis shouted, pushing Aerisa away as he ran past, and subconsciously pulling his hood over his head. He began muttering under his breath while placing a paw on the trunk of a tree. Please let this spell work, please let this spell work ... Two targets, no three ... you can do this Artemis~*~*~*~ Khestrel whirled around and stared dumbfounded at Thak, before his gaze met that of a familiar cloaked figure. His eyes narrowed to slits and burned with hatred as he began pacing purposefully after Thak in the direction of the Morpho. "You won't get away this time," he growled, tightening his iron grip on the hilt of his blade. "And this time I'm going to cleave you from head to foot."
