Lisha stood silent. What Xaver was doing was working. She didn't want to interupt that. She tryed to telepathicly send him messiges. This is working. Good. Keep going. I'll just stay right here.We can get through this girl. Lisha was incapible of comunicating telipathicly so this was complealy poinless. Lisha did it anyways. She was an elemental. What other incomprehenable things could she do?

He nodded. "Yes... It was five years ago. It was the first time I knew... something was different." He looked at Lisha. "I told you about the time our house burned down when I was nine. I didn't know I'd caused it, but when I was hit by burning debris and inexplicably got out unharmed... well... I could tell..." He turned to Yra. "After I figured out what was going on, I taught myself how to control my powers, so something like that wouldn't happen again. I couldn't risk it." He sighed, and again spoke quietly. "Don't you see?" he said. "With your powers under control, accidents like that won't happen."

Lisha thought to herself, Take deep breaths. It is ok. So what. It wasn't ok and she knews that. With every story that she heard she thought more and more that she had done the wrong thing. I'm old enough to live on my own. Ok maybe not but I can manage. This will be one big adventure. Somehow she failed to convince herself.

Yra bit her lip. Hard. She hated admitting it, but she had powers, and she would have to learn to control them. She thought she didn't like any of these people, but Storm, Xavier and Noel seemed nice. You just don't hate them because they didn't stick a flame right in front of you. a part of her mind commented, but she knew it wasn't true. She liked their way of explaining things to her without being a tad bit aggressive. The man, Chris, didn't like her, so why try to be nice with him, if he would only glare in return? As for Lisha...well, she was extremely sensitive. Yra had no patience for that kind of person.
"If..." she started timidly, looking at Xavier. "If I'm willing to learn to control my powers...will you help me with it? And glaring at me like that won't do anything to help me join your side, yunno." she said, taking a brief glance at Chris.

Xavier smiled. "Sure I will," he said. "You have to trust us." He too glanced briefly at Chris. Ice and fire didn't tend to mix too well. He turned back to Yra and held out his and. "Are you with us?"

"For now, yes." replied Yra. "I might change my mind." She didn't know exactly what to do with his hand, so she shook it and nodded, looking extremely serious. After a while she broke into a smile and shook her head. "I knew I wouldn't get the last word in this argument." she mumbled, then looked at her brother. "Happy, now?" she asked.
Daniel nodded. "Very." he replied.
"Go back home now and tell mom I should be back before nine o'clock tonight...I hope." she told her brother, who nodded and walked off, heading back home.

Xavier smiled, but his face soon grew serious. "Look," he said. "There's someone out there... her name is Mirra. She's powerful, too powerful."
"Yes," added Storm. "She can absorb our powers... make our elements useless against her. And she can turn them against us."
"We had to warn you," Xavier said, meeting her eyes. "Whether you help us or not... you had to know."
