Some of you know that I have been planning on having an inter-guild shop competition for some time now. But, for those of you who didn't know: I have been planning on having an inter-guild shop competition for some time now.
*Smack'd*
*Ahem* Anyway. There are currently four shops set up:
Spacefleet shop
Mage shop
Pirate shop
Ninja shop
No one has made a Knight or Merc shop yet; however, if someone in either of those guilds wants to take one up, feel free to do so.
To sign up
Just post your name and the guild you will be representing. (More on this under How GSW works.) You must be part of the guilds to participate. If you aren't part of the guilds but still want to play, then join a guild and sign up!
Also, even if you have multiple characters, please only sign up one character for GSW. I'm looking at you, Cyborg. This just makes things simpler. I'll keep the signups open for several days, so nag all your guild members to join!
How Guild Shop Wars works
Each guild is given some amount of money, probably something like 1000 shinies. This money is distributed among the guild members participating in GSW. How the money is distributed among members is left up to the guild leader or some other authority figure; however, for simplicity's sake, I strongly recommend giving each guild member the same amount of money. Everyone goes out and buys things from the other shops. However, you CANNOT buy something from your own guild's shop. This is to keep people from spending all of their money on their own shops, which wouldn't make the game very fun. At the end of the game, the guild that earns the most money wins. Shops are free to make sales and discounts, pass out coupons, buy back unwanted items, and so forth. Individual participants are free to make deals amongst themselves, buying/selling or trading items between each other. Aside from the one rule against buying from your own shop, this is a completely free market economy.
Theoretically, GSW is in a very informal semi-RP format. See the Spacefleet Gift Shop for an idea of what we're aiming for. You can simply say "I'll take this and this and this" if you want, but it's a bit more fun to do so in character. I'm not saying you have to write a long post about striking a pose in the doorway, slowly walking in and cynically appraising the merchandise, before finally sidling up to the register and slapping some shinies on the counter. You can do that if you want--again, it might be fun--but it isn't necessary.
Note to the shop makers
Since you are the ones who made the shops, you will be in charge of distributing the merchandise and keeping a running shop till. I suggest keeping a till and sales history in the first post. Or you can bully a mod into doing it, since that's what they're there for.
