Clint looked genuinely surprised at the mention of motor vehicles. He hadn't heard of them before, and hadn't had a reason to go to the basement before. He generally stayed on the ground level, in either the kitchen, living room, or outside, whatever fit his mood. Sleeping in the living room wasn't exactly comfortable, but with the security system often on the fritz he figured somebody with a weapon should.
"We have jeeps? How come I didn't know?" Clint asked. Being among the few war veterans currently in the room, he felt at least a little bit entitled to knowledge of such hardware. "Are they armed or armored?"

Good Timing Twizzlers, we need all the mercs we've got!
When Twizzlers heard that sentence, she jumped. She had never been important before! "Okay," she said slowly.
Twizzlers was so surprized, but she sat down again.

Jernath briefly gave an odd glance to Twizzlers, but otherwise decided to ignore the fact that there was a talking pink koala in the room.
"If they'll hire us, we should pick whichever side pays more," Jernath said in response to the questions of which side they'd join. "That's my opinion, at least."
Jernath, like most of the others, was surprised that they had jeeps in the basement. Why had no one noticed them before? Or maybe no one was looking...
"Who would drive?" Jernath couldn't help but ask. He knew he wouldn't, considering... well, they never did use cars back in his home village, so he wouldn't really know how to drive one. He decided not to mention this, unless someone asked...

"I'll take one," said Elycien, speaking up for the first time. "And given their previous career experience, I'm sure Hades or Alerid will be capable of driving..." She glanced at Scar, shaking her head slightly. Where did he find these things? "How many do we have?" she asked, sounding a little embarrassed that she didn't know already.
"Wait," Alerid said, frowning slightly. "Since when was I coming? I'm your liaison, Elycien, not a soldier. I can't even really get around quickly enough to be a messenger anymore."
"It's up to you," Elycien said. "I was hoping you could help with any undercover work, but if you'd rather not... I'm not going to force you into anything."

Fenrix grinned. "Elycien, I've driven a jeep before, if Alerid wants to stay, I can drive." Granted the last time she drove she had to shoot out the window going ninety in a city zone. It didn't end well for everyone else, but she got to her destination.
Shiloh batted Hades' ear gently and jumped down, coming to sit on Elycien's lap. "Is Blizzard coming?"

Elycien frowned. "I'd assume so, since those two are my familiars." She hadn't seen either in a couple of days, but her senses told her that they were somewhere in the labyrinth of lower levels in the basements. If they broke anything important down there, they would be in real trouble.

"Wait, so we'll be fighting each other, in name at least?" Hades raised an eyebrow at that. It didn't seem quite right. They were on the same team. Even if that team was for the purposes of gaining more money. He shrugged a little, dismissing it. They'd have time to figure out how they'd be dividing themselves up, anway.
"And yes, I think I can drive a jeep. Haven't had any practice recently, though." The last time was probably back before he'd become a cyborg. After that, he'd become a part of the 'fleet, and a merc. And not someone who got the boring job of being a driver on the few ground missions he'd been a part of, either. He'd gotten to shoot things.

"Same here." Clint said after Hades spoke up, "I can drive a jeep fairly well."
Much like Fenrix, he neglected to add that he had only ever driven jeeps and hummvees in war situations requiring high speeds and often a gun pointed out the driver's window. Regardless, he had never so much as scratched the paint of one, so the only danger his driving would pose would probably be a speeding ticket.

"J-j-j-jeeps?"
Vyt's rather repulsive attitude by that time quickly changed to a nervous one. The half-feline had gone through several hardships throughout his life that made him fear more than it made him feared.
"You mean those machines that run on gas? That have big boxes behind?" After that, Vyt was starting to stutter in fear. "That can lock me up and take me away from my Father?! THAT MY SO-CALLED FATHER OF MINE PUT ME IN WHILE HE LEFT HIMSELF OUT?!"
If there was anything obvious about Vyt, he was beginning to lose control of his own mind, and this time, there was no Dum to influence it.

" Vyt, calm down it's ok, we won't do that, we're you're friends." Cyborg said.
" Though sometimes, I do feel like locking Cyborg up, when I found one too many empty rum bottles around him." Midknight said jokingly.

Arista jumped up and sat next to Vyt, putting an arm around him. "If you want, you and I can fly above them while they take the jeeps." She offered calmly.
A memory fluttered into her mind. Her brother and father leaving for a while to go on a hunt. Her father coming home with the kill. Arista had never seen her brother after that. She had only been a little kid so she barely remembered the time. She shook her head to clear it. It wouldn't do to dwell on past memories.

Lou rushed into the room, panting. "Sorry I'm late- wings really mess with running and I hit a corner over there and-" she stopped, blushing.
"Anyway," added the swampgirl, pushing her hair behind iher ears in an attempt to recover what dignity she'd had, "I can drive. Sort of."
How hard could it be?

"Not helping, Darth." Clint said to Midknight concerning his last comment, before turning to the catboy.
"Vyt, calm down. I don't know what's happened in your past, but it's gone now. You need to focus on the present."
Ironically, the words he had just spoken had a great impact on Clint. To let go of the past... maybe he needed to do that. Cliche as it sounded, the truth was that killing Takehiko would not bring Ness back. There was nothing he could do for her now, but remember her fondly. Just like all his other friends who were killed in action, the only thing he could do now is hang on to their memory.

All Vyt could do in response was shiver. He could feel an ethereal kind of coldness surrounding him, forcing him to react as if no one even cared for him. Only by recovering his material sense did he realize this, and started to take control of himself, albeit slowly. "I... I'm s-s-sorry," was all he could utter.
Instinctively, he clung on to Arista, whose arms were available for him to feel some warmth out of. Arista. Now that he thought of it, Arista somehow reminded him of his own past, though her presence only brought back the handful joyful parts of it.

" Hey Indiana it was a joke, you know humor. Where you came from it may have been forbidden, but humor is used to lighten moods, for laughter, which some say is the best medicine, but anyways, to cheer someone up." Midknight stated to Clint. " Now I suggest you shut your mouth or I'll have the honor of shutting it for you."
