Bacon looked around for his next opponent, breathing hard. "I need to do some more cardio," he sighed as a bead of sweat rolled down his forehead and came to a stop in his eyebrow. He spun around, finding nothing. He stood still, trying to lure his unseen foe into attacking. Hearing a sound, he jerked his head around, only to see a very big explosion eminating from a distant simulation.
Bacon stood still for a while, occasionally looking left or right, awaiting the inevitable strike... but it never came. Bacon sighed, checking his watch. It was three minutes at least since the last attack. "I know I programmed in more opponents than that. That was just... let's see... four ninjabots."
Bacon checked his PDA, which he used to send the commands to the computer. Sure, the holodeck was voice-activated, but it was just habit for Bacon to use the microcomputer. "Four? What? I'm sure I told it to spawn seven of those ninjabots. I'll just..."
While he was talking, seven ninjabots appeared at once. They all started hacking at him with their weapons, which passed through Bacon not too painlessly. "Darn voice-activation!" The ninjabots seemed to become aware that Bacon was immune. They bowed before him.
"We bow before your strength, invincible master Clint Jeremy Thunder. We are ready to serve your will, Master Thunder." The holo-bots said in uncanny unison.
"I'm not Cl-..."Bacon started, then stopped. Clint had programmed these himself, this must have been a little pointless easter-egg he embedded in their coding. He addressed the group as a whole, "The ninjabot to your immediate left has betrayed my will. Cut off his head."
The circle of mindless, holographic robots did what they were ordered without question, killing all seven of them. Bacon laughed, then started to walk out of the holodeck. He had performed a full test of the CAW under various situations, and that was mostly what he had wanted to accomplish here. He was proud of the weapon, it held up well and had a good rate of fire.

ZOC shook his head modestly, "Not for the moment. We will discuss specific strategy and tactics when the time comes. I suggest we start preparations immediately, as completing the Fenris Class ship will take some time. Are you in? Or are you not?"
Vedrik was made uneasy by the tone of ZOC's voice as he said this. There was no doubt now in his mind of the Huuji Laketan's ambition. There was a saying in Laketan, that the three deadliest vices are "zioscey, rioscey, cas verioscey". Translated into English, the saying is roughly:
If I were to leave some sort of legacy,
Heaven forbid it's for one of these three:
Being jealous, zealous, or rebellious.
Vaike of Huuji displayed these attributes more than any other Laketan alive. He reminded Vedrik of legendary warlord Catii Sil Zula of the Pre-Expansion Empire, who's lust for power and wealth led to the demise of his entire household. It also seemed comparable to two historic humans he'd heard of, Napolean Bonaparte and Adolphe Hitler.
All of these men left legacies of being jealous, ambitious, and power-thirsty. Vedrik now knew ZOC had those dark seeds embedded deep in his soul. And that frightened him, for the first time in his life. For twenty-three generations, none of his ancestors ever tasted true fear. That startled him most of all, that someone so unassuming could elicit such an emotion from a warrior of his caliber.

Silna Kovruu, as she dropped the "of" in an attempt to further distance herself from the culture that alienated her, walked into the cantina, which seemed more crowded than usual. She was hoping to catch Bacon on his lunch break, but he wasn't here, nor were any others she recognized.
Sighing, she walked to the only table with a free seat. "Excuse me, is anyone sitting here?"
"Not for some time." Andrew Kyve said, more bitter than he had meant for it to sound.
"It's empty, go ahead, sit." Deri said with a weak smile. "Sorry if we're not exactly happy, we lost a friend a while back."
As she sat, Silna returned almost the exact same expression, "I know how that is." Fond thoughts of Soto and the others filled her mind. "My name is Silna."
"Pleased to meet you, I'm Deri and that's Kyve." The half-werewolf said, extending his hand. She shook it, beginning a new friendship that would last for many years.
They started talking about their pasts, then the conversation somehow moved on to species. Next they talked of current events and the local food, and somewhere in the middle of it all, their spirits lifted. They still missed Jord and the I.T.E.O., but as Deri pointed out, there was no way to change what's already happened, and it may be best to embrace the present and aspire for the future.
