X3 Bacon, my smile is suspicious? Score one! Given the (at least in Sir Bacon's mind) grave circumstances, yes, any joy/mirth/happiness/excess-not-serious-ness is a little fishy.

Hey, Fenrix, out of curiosity, what weapons does your character have on her at the moment? I may have a chance to take note of it/them in a later post.

She's carrying a curved scimitar on her waist, and she was carrying her shield on her back, but now its next to her chair. And she's carrying a dagger and a quarter staff.

Shade and I have been talking about the roleplay, and she thought I should share this with everyone: I want people to be active, I want people to put in their two cents, their dimes and their dollars even, but when things come to a halt and whither, what's there left to do but add direction? And maybe it's just me, but I feel that, as King, a lot of people look to me for permission to act--when no permission is needed at all--and to get things rolling when they stop. I had hoped that, with this roleplay, having a bunch of characters that anybody could control and do with as they want (I seriously have no plans for Alec beyond what words come out when I write for him) would add that element of freedom and interactiveness in which no select few are the "elite," the people who dominate the roleplay, but it has, obviously, not lived up to my hopes for it.Perhaps seeing the direction I've been coming from will help us all to move in the direction we ultimately want to go in, that of being an active and engaging roleplay? In addition, I'd like to say that, although the term "NPC" is usually taken to mean "non- playable character" (originating from RPGs in which NPCs are uncontrollable characters), when I use the term to describe community characters, I use it in the sense of "non-player/non-personal character," in that these characters do not belong to any single individual and are thus open to be played by anyone in the roleplay. And, for the moment being, one last thing— From our roleplay guidelines: 3. Try to have your posts be at least 150 words long. Nothing happens if we post one-liners. A minimum word count will help us in the long run, I think. A hundred and fifty words seems reasonable to me considering the size of our active roleplaying community, but, again, please discuss this and share your thoughts on whether or not this minimum should be higher or, daresay even, lower. In conclusion, I'm being called away for dinner, but I will post again sometime tonight. :)

Fenrix, I know I probably should have checked with you before posting the last paragraph in my post, but it seemed to be a good catalyst to make Sir Bacon truly suspicious of Fenrix. He was getting a bit suspicious of her, but I decided to make her his main suspect for the murders of his fellow knights.
Besides, the dagger doesn't really belong to the dead knight (does it?), it just looks like the dead knight's dagger from a distance.

Let's just say that Zari's backstory is messed up and last time she saw Omivaise he was her cityguard hand-to-hand combat instructor.

..I was trying to avoid writing something like this. I really was. But I can’t help it now.
Look. There’s a reason behind everything. There’s a reason why our roleplay moves so slowly. The reason, as I see it, is the fear people have of doing anything. Even I succumb to it. I could have had Alec attack. But I didn’t. Why not? Well.. two reasons. One. It didn’t seem in character. Two. I couldn’t figure out how to attack in such a way that Alec, Casandra, and their cohort wouldn’t get slaughtered. I admit, I have some attachment to them now. But I can, and have, killed off my characters. I’m willing to do so with NPCs that weren’t even mine to begin with.
But the thing is, I’ve taken control of them enough. Wolf’s taken control of them enough. I’m not going to have Casandra reply to Shade. That’s for someone else to do. But what I want right now is to see this roleplay get off the ground and move. That means doing something. That means having posts that aren’t half-useless filler. Look at it this way. If there’s nothing in your post for another character to respond to, don’t post it. Why not? Because it’s a waste of space, and any character development, thoughts, or such things can be added to a post with an action, a post that moves the roleplay along.
I’m not going to say anything directly about people, much as I’m tempted to, but I want this to be understood. I want it to be understood and I want people to use this understanding to better the roleplay. There’s a reason why I like the 150 word minimum. It makes it harder for you not to do something. A higher limit would make it even harder. And that’s a good thing.
And one last thing. If you read the summaries of past roleplays, you can see something interesting. Though it’s about twice the length of the Intro Roleplay, A New Day accomplishes at most as much as the Intro Roleplay. This, if you know anything, should tell you something. Yes, in War Ascending we’re managing to get things done, but it’s at a rate between those two, I think. We can improve. I know we can.
Um. Yes. And to drive the point home.. NPCs, community characters? Those are exactly what their name suggests. Use them. Please. As fun as Alec and Casandra are, it’s high time that everyone uses the characters to do whatever they want. Use your personal characters to do whatever you want. Right now, if it gets the roleplay moving, I don’t care if it’s completely in character or not. I want things to get done.
..I’m done now. Thanks for reading this, everyone.

Hey, I have had something planned (that's why I asked Fenrix those questions, after all), I just didn't feel like doing it *now*. Let's just say it'd be very out of character for Sir Bacon to interrupt the negotiations. But, if you insist, I admit it will get things moving a bit.
EDIT: I just edited my last post to add an action. A few more thoughts to justify it, as well.

*Shade's wonderful speech* Exactly! ^_^ Thank you for saying it in such a powerful but non-accusatory way. You really are a great envoy!

I find it amusing that Wolf ninja'd my post while I was writing it. Still, I guess it's coherent enough, just assume that Jonathan ran to Alec after Kit had moved on.
One point of amusement is that Wolf posted more than four hours before me, and still managed to ninja me.
Having said all that though, I don't like my post. Too many technical problems.

O_o Sounds painful................ Oh, I think I get it now! ^_^ Well, anyways, I personally think your post is just fine, with no holes whatsoever (at least, that I can see). It's good to finally have you back (though I must admit, when I read this post, I though for a brief second you were actually Shade, though I should've known better, I know xD)) and I love what you've done with Casandra. Even though you've not really done anything at all, simply recognising her adds to her character. She--and almost all of the NPCs, for that matter--is a blank canvas, and every little brush stroke adds color and vividness to whatever portrait she will come to portray. No one person can paint her the best it can be; it needs to be a community effort, with everyone having a hand in adding to her detail, very much like a roleplay itself. :)

I think the fact that it was about roleplay quality added to my confusion.
